While that could be a very good idea (and I think if we had that option, I would audition IN A HEARTBEAT) sadly, I think Child Labor Laws would play a huge part in that.

The characters that are 12 in movies (Peter Pan, Wendy, Alice, etc.) would come out a lot less often because of school. That's why they need young looking 'adults' to become friends with characters in Disney parks.

but then again, you have a lot of children in the acting profession. think about miley cyrus, emily osment etc.. they all started hannah montana at the age of 12...they must have still been in school! and what about daniel radcliffe? i dont think there would be a problem hiring children :)

Absolutely, but they have to do it every day. I guess they could do it the way they have kids on Broadway perform a show: Have a certain kid do it during the day and one at night, and alternate the kids every other day, but it would be so much to handle after a while. Keep in mind that they have those characters in multiple shows as well as having meet and greets internationally. I think having young looking adults is easier. :P

Plus, the kids you listed have on-set tutors for three hours a day.

That's one of the biggest things for Disney Cast Members; be on time to clock in and out, keep track of being out for half an hour at a time, it would be too much (even a few Cast Members get fired for not following those rules.)
