  • 9, 10-bis(phenylethynl)anthracene - *oh okay..okay..*

    for a green colour - "oh okay..okay.."

  • Did you break the glass tube?

  • @GrumpyToaster13 That's how you get the peroxide out of it. Same way it's done in commercial glowsticks; that's why they make a cracking sound when you bend them.

  • bro i love ur videos but the voice thing you do just annoys the hell out of my and every one

  • i swear i heard pubes like 2 times in that video! o.O

  • hi where do you buy your glass botles ?

  • hey im 15 nd umm well is there a easier way to do this lmao

  • @MayjLover202020 I'm not sure what age has to do with your ability to use your hands...

  • snork snork anyone know where snooork i can find a snork mue-snooooork-seum

  • Who needs a chemistry teacher when you've get NurdRage?!?!

  • That stuff is only a fraction of what I've done soz I can't wright all but I'm not good a typing and i would be weighting for hours

  • @MrCoolcat300 ... stop spamming the video's comments, please. :)

  • @thepainofirony

    i dont like you

  • @MrCoolcat300 that was sudden... i just meant you had a lot of comments... i was kind of joking, but you're right. that was rude of me.

  • Am I an experienced chemist I've made oh sorry about bad spelling. Iodine, copper sulfate, copper oxide, iron oxide, aluminum powder, nitro, nitric acid, nitroglycerin, trinitrotoluene, I know I'm not supposed to play with fire but hay I'm 13 what do you expect I like chemistry

  • Am I normal

  • Hi im 13 and I make all this stuff I made glow stick I even made the t.c.p.o I also made the sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, I also made white phosphorous and potassium nitrate

  • @MrCoolcat300 good for you

  • is it toxic if you inhale?

  • pretty!!!!

  • 1:19

I can't understand what you say there, it sounds like "Fill the tube with three-oh percent...".

  • that is absolutely amazing!

  • mr nurdrage instead of an ampule couldnt you directly mix the chemicals at the time you wish to glow as not to have to try and flame seal your own ampules or does the glass ampule aid in glow

  • You could totally make a LIVING selling glow sticks !!

  • wow....puberty was real tough on you!! 0.o

  • UUUHHHHH?

    English? Please

  • I dont know what the color is for blue, but if i did do this, it would help for an Isaac Clarke costume (R.I.G. on his back and helmet light).

  • how long does it last?

and how do i dispose of the chemical when i have to refill it, i dont think i should just flush it down the toilet or the sink.

  • @Trancidonia You drink it...

  • I have disassembled today a commercial glow stick and it's made by same way except that they put Hydrogen Peroxide outside for some reason :P

  • Pro

  • @NurdRage Proper disposal?

  • "I want to play a game... no, actually I want you to check out how I made these glow sticks its really neat!"

  • awesome!

  • im also sort of puzzled on the glass breaking concept. when refilling, do you use another ampule?(or ampuel).

  • OMG!!! this sound like SAW movie LOL!!!!!

  • nice) I did it! Very impressive!

  • Dude, you are awesome!!!

  • so you break the glass after all that work?

  • @yankeenick The glass, when broken, releases the hydrogen peroxide, which starts the reaction and makes the glowstick glow.

  • lol

  • does your voice really sound like that?

  • @SlinkyMan457 he may eat you!

  • lol, cool experiments and you remind me of some of my friends. I am subscribed for life

  • very sick

  • What reaction is causing the luminescence?

  • i want like 500 asap

  • There's something about glowing chemicals that's simply mesmerizing... I love these vids.

  • i should put this on my bike lol

  • cool...... not only do you learn how to make your own refillable glow stick, but a glow stick with brass ends on it, which you can use to brain some poor hapless idiot on halloween night so you can take all his candy and leave him for dead. THANK YOU, NurdRage! 8D

  • nice voice. kidnapped somebody lately?

  • where did you get your torch im looking for one

  • 3CPO ? just kiddin..

  • You need to do that in bright red so it would look out of bioshock :D

  • "greetings fellow nerds"

  • wow is amazing

  • stupid question, can you do it with mountain dew, baking soda, and hydrogen peroxide?

  • Man this guy is awsome i love chemistry, this guy is like online chemistry teacher if i could sub more then once i would.

  • SWEET! :p

  • you sound like satan =D

  • Next video idea based on this one: Light Saber sized glow stick! and of course, a light saber battle with them.

  • You gave me a costume idea. Thanks NurdRage :3

  • lol, a blue glow stick...

  • you love sience i love sience and i like steal all those chemicals and use them for glowsticks!!!

  • good video but i really wish u would have shown how to put the tube and brass things together not every1 is that smart u know

  • I love u mistery guy!

  • This is very cool and informative.

  • awesome! :D

one question! can I make this thing just adding liquids in 2 syringes and then mixing them together in some kind of hose?;o and will it work with air?

  • nurdrage could you please make a vid on making a homemade glowstick but with checmicals easily found in stores or at home p.s. nice refillable glowstick

  • how long will it glow???

  • That's easy Im sure everyone has a torch at home...... Just buy a glow stick.... Much much cheaper safer and easier to get!!!!

  • Didnt he use a green dye? (why is it glowing blue) xD

  • @n00bM0nKeY camera white balance.

  • @n00bM0nKeY if ur trying to get thumbs up its not working..

  • @cantbeatjoey Why on earth would i want thumbs up? :\

  • pure awesome! your vids are like popcorn ! 1 or 2 are not enough!!

  • Obviously it is dangerous to get on your skin, since he is wearing gloves.

  • im not being offensive but are you using a voice changer btw cool video

  • @lonelykatana Oh wait, my bad. If you're just saying that for the hell of saying it then you're absolutely right.

Before i thought you said that because you thought i actually said my way was/cheaper... which i never did.

i never said it was cheaper or easier.

I don't see why you would say that though. Kinda like going to a person on the street and saying "my house is bigger than you."

.... yeah that's true... but... why bother stating that?

    ah well.

  • @lonelykatana i think you missed the point of learning stuff.

  • @NurdRage Some people just say crap to talk to you lol

  • @LighterMan98 hehe, strange people eh?

  • @NurdRage Yep! I love using hydro peroxide for stuff like this, its just amazing how science is actually all around us.

  • theryre like the sticks when glow and when u break the inside it glows

  • The most scientifically amazing video i've ever seen. REALLY!!!!

  • nice torch

  • why do you do the voice over

  • I can't make these, but your videos are very interesting.

  • ugh...ive never heard of these chemicals except for Hydrogen peroxide and the plastic Polypropolyne

  • Damn, wish I could make one at home. :/

  • awesomeeee

  • Can you put a fluorescent tube in liquid nitrogen? Would it work? Can you retrieve the mercury if freeze just one end of the tube and then break the tube?

  • haha i wanna swuing that and make some1 noise bleed

  • hello fellow nerds :D

    *pushes up glasses*

    xD

but that was awsome too bad i dont have the stuff to make it

  • aww man too bad i dont have all that stuff i'd really want that glowstick!!.......unless you're willing to sell some on ebay!

  • oh man that voice is sooo anoying

  • Sorry about that, you can turn off the sound and turn on the subtitles if the voice annoys you.

  • I like the voice, please carry on.

  • @IA161 just pitch up the sound by 3 then listen to his real voice. I know how it sound.

Personally I dont like my own voice, so I might pitch down the voice if I need to talk on my recorded clips

  • dude ur so awesome :D

  • yall are awesome

  • That is the most coolest thing i had ever seen.... :D

  • where I get such a pencil torch and how much does it costs?

  • ill tell you what - He is the fucking man ! love his vids ! All badass and usefull .

wish he was my brother , lol

  • why does he alter his voice?

  • so the police don't find him in real life in case they think it's illegal to give out this vids or if he has done something against the law. better be carefull when you learn people how to make stuff out of things that is dangerous.

  • Probably because he/she steals chemicals from their job to use for youtube. also probaby a liability thing in case someone does something stupid and tries to blame Dr. C4H9Li

  • can captioning all esque video please I really like but do not know much because I'm Mexican and wanted sabersi because I would do this favor

  • this is marvellous

  • lol you guys are fuckin insane if u dont like this, this shit is nuts and bloody amazing, id love to see you guys do that!!!

  • I'd like to have a better list of the chemicals needed to recreate this.

  • That's so cool.

  • i like the voice

  • THATS NOT GREEN!!!

  • oh cry me a river then build a bridge and get over it, who cares if its green or not, you missed the whole point of the video if you're fussing about that o.O lol

  • it would be easy to just buy a glow stick but cool

  • lol did he say that it was going to be green earlyer??? thought i hear that

  • Could I use 9,10-Diphenylanthracene as a substitute for the mixture?

  • LOL!!! lets test this BABY out!!!

  • oh you so gotta bring that to a rave

  • @Moshejetz haha accidently smack somebody in the head with the end part

  • props ,, all these videos are awesome

  • Great Videos! I just subscribed, I wanna see all of them!!

  • Would you be able to use plastic for a cap?

  • wht r the ingrediants?

  • So that's how they get liquid in those fucking glass ampoules.

    Very cool thing to learn!

I have always been curious about that..

The 007 movies always seemed to have them

  • do you have any kooleo "how to" videos that dont involve fire or chemicals you have to buy online

  • Probably not. But he does a great job at what he does as it is. Allow teh Nerd to educate you. Instead of being a girl who likes kooleo things, learn.:)

  • can you buy norm glow sticks and would the chemicals b the same as the ones you use? and if you baught enough could you make that 2 l bottle glow stick with them?

  • v nice :) i cba :P to do that much work :\ lol but ye nice work nerdrage :D

  • sweet i think im gona make a caseing like this...

  • nurdrage where u get the chemicals and hot to get the chemicals in singapore and can i do it too if i bcause i am only 11

  • i dont think he is gonna tel u that XD check ebay xD

  • hay how long does the stick glow? please respond

  • That's really cool. Thanks for posting

  • how can u make "ultra's" ultra bright glowsticks??

  • kool interesting 5/5

  • niice..

  • How long does the glow last?

  • nice! hey , how do you get your chemicals??

  • i did what he did but I was lazy and baught a normal glowstick and cut it open and put the stuff into the re useable tube

  • sounds like him of saw lol

  • he sounds liike the guy from scary movie if u ask me lol

  • kinda

  • glowsticks are cool :)

  • Very cool. How big could you make it? Also how long does it glow?

  • im guess ing he could make it maybe to the size of a 2L soda bottle but its a bit unpractical and more expensive

  • so thats wat the cracking sound is when you activate a new glow stick. nice thanks

  • Question. How long does the glow last?

  • Did you break the flame-sealed pipette to activate the glow?

  • Yes.

  • That's what he did, just like glow sticks you buy in stores that you have to crack to activate. He broke the little glass pipe to activate his homemade glowstick. Quitei nteresting however.

  • yes. and i also think this guy plays on gi joe as cobra

  • LOL! I didn't know that Jigsaw was a raver! xD

  • Oh man, I would so make this for use in a steampunk gun. That would be so awesome. Thanls Darth Vader!

  • i can't believe i'm the only 1 that really recreated ur voice with only a DSI... oh well... this is a pretty awesome video! 5/5!

  • Extremely cool! Thanks, Nurdrage!

  • I made it but it was different the glass shattered...and...well.........I was not wearing eye protection.....I guess you catch my drift.......

  • Even though I wouldn't trust myself with any of that stuff...it's still awesome.

  • yeah how can i get those chemicals?

It be awesome to go raving with that huge glow stick

  • if you do you should make a foot long glow stick lol

  • how can i get the chemicals??

  • you, my good sir have become my chemistry hero. Like watching how its made but with more SCIENCE!!

  • do you make these things for your job? or just in spare time?

  • These are great videos. The serial-killer voice kinda creeps me out though.

  • lol i don't find it serial killery. It's just deep.

  • probably cheaper and easier to just buy ready made glowsticks, but still a cool video.

  • its hard to get all those materials

well most of them especially the chemicals

  • i thought it was going to be green

  • it is green

  • maby it is the camera or my monitor but that looks light blueish

  • Its the camera, but rest assured, it is painfully green in real life.

  • what is the name of the torch? it's a Air Plasma Cutting Torch? isn't it?

  • thats cool but those chemicals are hard to get so you cant make one

  • you'd be surprised at how resourceful people are.

If people can make drugs, they can certainly make glow sticks.

  • Awesome !

  • no money

  • To purchase those chemicals do you need a license??

  • Depends on the country you're in. I can't really say for all countries.

  • I will ask the chemist. Australia can get uptight regarding chemicals. Great vid's :-)

  • these videos have got to be the most amazing thing i have seen on youtube in a long long time.. well, this coming from someone who had a chemistry set when i was like 8 or 9.. the experiments there were never this awesome, alas i got into IT instead and chemistry went by the wayside.. BUT this is seriously making me want to change career paths now :)

  • hehehe, cool :)

But at least in IT you can "potentially" make millions if you hit a big idea, chemistry is kinda exhausted and almost no one hits big anymore.

Also computers don't usually explode and/or gas you to death or give you permanent scars. ;)

But chemistry... is awesomely cool. :)

  • very cool
