Network Rail recently released a document relating to the reopening of South Staffordshire Line between Stourbridge and Walsall (via Dudley). They claim it has a capital cost of £98 million and the entire Bescot curve will have to be relaid. It'll happen in the next few years subject to approval of funding. We really need trains back on this line! It's a waste of our infrastructure.
@SamMitchell90 That sounds promising, I hope it happens. Thanks for the info. I agree it definitely needs using again, it all looks in such a sad state at the moment.
@simoncrnfrth Thats still a very long time ago, anything with iron in it such as rails can rust up in a matter of hours with the right kind of weather. You only have to look at car brake discs, when the car hasn't been used for a couple of days, same kind of thing. Iron + damp / wet humid weather = rust
Yes it certainly is hell of a lot different these days. Saying all that, there was a lot of men in Hi-viz and white hard hats taking a big interest in the tracks last year, so who knows. Im told it's on the cards to re-open...?? Thanks for watching.
Thats brilliant news if it happens,I certainly hope so ! however they certainly have their work cut out bringing those tracks back up to a working condition..... Thanks for the info
So 6 months after this video was taken it was all over. Within the space of 15 years mother nature has taken over the land with trees and weeds, and the tatters have nicked all the electric signaling cables and anything else made from iron and steel. All in all its gone down the pan. Bring back the trains all is forgiven..!!
Ive done similar things down Newton Crossing when i was knee high to a grasshopper. Most kids just smash everything up now or stab or shoot each other .
I was mad in those days, when the trains stopped for the lights on bescot curve we used to hang off the side of a coal truck then as the train moved off towards bescot station we would jump off before it got to fast..... Crazy or what? Its a wonder Im still here to tell the tale. Kids dont do any of this !!!!

The rails look very rusty for a line that was open and in use in 1992?
