I had mine rev to just above 7000 rpm don't ask me how. Pretty sure comp was stock. It might have something to do with going to manual. But these motors are safe for those kind of revs. I've heard ppl getting away with 10,000rpm stock motor (for short time only).

Mine's stupid auto box once jumped into first while gunning it in second and it revved to 7500rpm, the result was 2 slipped teeth on the one cam and one tooth on the other cam, that caused an instant 50% power loss. Must have been an old belt and tensioner. That said, I've heard of guys who rev it to about 9500rpm in drag cars.
