To be able to copy "su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed" file on the SD card, you have to be in clockworkmod recovery menu, from there you have to go to mout usb mass storage device and DO NOT GET OUT, STAY THERE AND CONNECT CABLE TO PC !!! your sd will be detected then copy the file from above.
okkk!!! so after several hours of people all having the same isses with the google loader looping....there is a very simple solution...in Clockwork Recovery there is an option to "mount" click it and mount usb storage...then copy your custom rom to the folder that pops up on your computer automatically...then unmount and then in clockwork go to "install zip from sd" then "choose zip from sd" then click on your rom and flash! reboot and you should be good to

Thanks man!it took awhile but i finally did it. oh btw u dont HAVE to put the SU zip in the SD, just download it from the app market lol, just 1 less of a step.
@mike216ism man im scared after reading all the people who are getting bricked.i watched it about 20 times to build up some confidents.i really appreciate the reply.did you follow this tutorial for root
@mike216ism i dont see my nexus s in device manager after installing everything but i do see it when i go to control panel and select devices and printers.its there saying nexus s.i did a adb check i seen on youtube to make sure adb is seeing my phone and it said devices attached with my serial number next to it.im a little confused because i dont see nexus s in device manager.what do you think.also if you want to make some money ill donate or pay you to guide me through it.
-Before you can unlock your phone, you need a usb driver on your PC for your phone, and after trying half a dozen the only one that I found to work for mine (GT-i9020T) was included with PdaNet when I installed it. People with other Nexus S models may need a different driver.
-Secondly, the recovery file you flash can be specific to certain Nexus S models.
-3rd, You should not be flashing boot.img, period. That's what causes the stuck Google screen.
@delicieuxz Those who get stuck on the Google loading should follow the instructions listed here:
Wow, no posting links, ok, then Google: "[GUIDE] 2.3.4 OTA - Variants and their links - Korean Release!"
Should be the first result that links to the forum post with the stock ROMS.
Be sure to download the correct original ROM for your phone version. Look under the Nexus S battery to find out what version of the phone you have: i9020T, i9023, i9020A, etc...
@delicieuxz Also, to copy the stock ROM to the SD card when you can't boot your OS, you need to mount the internal USB from the recovery menu. Once in the recovery menu, you should be able to follow the menu options to do this, and then unmount it once the ROM is copied to the phone, and then install the zip from the SD card via the recovery menu options.
It means that you don't have the proper driver for your Nexus S model installed on your computer. Look under your phone's battery to see what model you have (for example, mine is GT-i9020T) and see what works for others with the same model. The only driver that worked for me came with a program called PdaNet, which I installed.
ok for all of those who are stuck on the google logo you will type in cmd cd\nexussroot and then "fastboot flash recovery xxxxxx" where xxxxx is the name of the recovery file you have then reboot in bootloader and go into recovery and you will be in the clockwork menu then mount your usb storage from mounts and storage and place any zip file to your sd card i have placed cyanogen but you can place any rom you want then intall it from clockwork and you are done your phone is saved
@lukasbersuitero in the nexussroot file there should be 2 ISO files the one is rootboot and the other is the recovery one i cant remember its name though as i changed it cause it was too long it should be like recovery clockwork something hope i helped
are there other types of "recovery" roms? Are there other version of 'su'? Is this the sort of "standard community" method of rooting Nexus S? I'm just preparing a head of time before the arrival of my Nexus S. thanks
Also will this work with 2.3.4 grj22 (just to unlock bootloader and flash clockwork mod and install cm7, not to flash rootboot as it seems like it's bricking phones)??
Hey someone help me please. You know after unlocking the bootloader, and flashing the clockwork mod recovery, can I just use clockwork recovery to wipe data and cache, mount it as storage, copy the cyanogenmod 7 and google apps zips, mount as system, install them both and reboot and will I be finished, or do I need to install superuser zip aswell or is this order wrong?? Thank you !!
yea if anyone has a solution to get it off the goolge icon please help..cause i can't get it out of it either...this will really suck if i can't get it out of it..please help if anyone can?..thanks
yea dude so.....i went through the entire process and got to the clockworkmod recovery i hit the reboot botton like you said in the vid and now my phone is stock in google screen with the little opened lock.....i have tried almost everything gone almost everywhere to try and fix it and nothing works....i really really really need some help man....this is the only phone i got =(

@64505752 No, you haven't bricked the phone, and I'm doubtful that it's possible to brick a phone by installing incorrect software.

I use google nexus s and win7 64bit and get the "waiting for device" after entering the oem unlock - what should I do, doesn't it work on 64bit?
maboxdata 11 months ago
@maboxdata It does work on 64bit win7 thats what I use all the time, perhaps check ur device manager and make sure ur win7 can see adb.

Your rootboot.img would not let my Nexus s boot. I guess it was because my NS is a newer version. Anyways. I found another one. Thanks for the video.

@SaFaO Make sure USB debugging is turned on
It helps to uncheck it then check it again so it can connect to the computer
type adb devices after your in the androidsdk tools directors
U should see a serial # if u do then u can use adb and fastboot
