  • The AHS at that time I guess didn't realize that calgary would become a city that large, and right now in calgary we are even in need of hospital beds. No offence to Alberta Provincial Goverment!

  • 12 building imploded at once is the record and it still stands today. i'm from calgary. i swear everyone in the city that day was watching.

  • no it doesnt china did 16 at once but 1 didnt go down so 15 is the new record. I saw this building go down, crazy to watch..

  • 12 building imploded at once is the record and it still stands today.

  • I guess they didn't have a problem with asbestos. Still reminds me of Byberry tho from the look of the bldgs.

English subtitles would have been nice & a English narrator would have been better!

  • this and one in Toronto are tied for the record is that correct?

  • Yes, that is correct.

  • i watched that here in calgary when i was little i didnt know it was a world record thats cool

  • The buildings were demolished October 4, 1998

  • Hi,this video is from the German TV (Channel Pro 7). How old is the Video?

  • somewhere around 8 years, probably more but i'm not sure.

  • Thanks for Info.

    Had you it self recorded?

  • just last week the laundry building's lease expired and was demolished.

I'm quite certain that my grandfather worked on that building...

  • I was born in Calgary, and was very very upset they destroyed this hospital

  • I remember that day like it was yesterday, we woke up early and stood on Scotsman's hill to watch along with hundres of others as the hospital was demonlished, I cryed like a baby.

I have pictures the day before the demolsion.

still to this day I think it was a huge mistake by the government to destroy this hospital. I have a lot of memories that took place there. Calgary has not been the same every since.

  • while it was extremely stupid to demolish a central hospital in favor of fragmenting hospitals into all corners of the city (one of the causes leading to manpower and bed shortages), the area around the general today is amazing.

  • whay was it demolished?

  • probably that was an awesome angle and view itself to watch ;)

  • cool angles

and, i was in the calgary tower when i witnessed the implosion

i was born in that hospital

  • Hi Gary

brings alot of memories back doesn't it?
