Try the Kimber Pepper Blaster II. It shots a formulation hotter than bear spray at 90MPH in a tenth of a second. I have been hit with both a REAL tazer and pepper spray (OC spray) to be certified to carry them on my job, A real tazer is what has the prongs that go into your body at 50,000 volts and one mili amp. the spray is soooooooo much worse! the tazer sucks dont get me wrong but its only 5 seconds, the spray lasts up to 45 min. I would be tazed again anyday, but fuck OC spray!

This was a great video and gave me some information. The only thing I wonder about is the stun weapon is recommended for 3 secs for full effect. You only got hit very briefly, less than a second. So, it doesn't seem to be a fair comparison. It seems if you pepper spray someone, then zap em for 3 secs that should take them out for sure. Both weapons seem to have their uses. If I have to fight someone I'd like to have both available as weapons.

I have never been sprayed but I used Wildfire 18 % (3.5 million SHU) on someone and it droped him like a rock. I prefer the cone spray to the stream, it's easier to hit your target and it stays in airisol particules around the target's head that they will breath in. Just make sure you walk backwards while spraying. A stream spray is more useful for LE because they have to move in to restrain the target.

You are supposed to taze the torso and hips, not the limbs, and get the smaller stun guns so your attacker doesn't see it coming. It's more effective against kidnappers and muggers, who try to wresle you, not against someone trying to kill you with a knife/stick.

Well this vid is good, but the stun batons are weaker than pistol grip stun guns, 45,000 volts to 1,000,000 volts, but still, pepper spray is better, bot good for its reach,and its CQB.

@HACKER71000 I sort of agree, stun guns.. "electroshock weapons" vary greatly with the amount of kV actually used. But really the only difference is the sustained output of voltage and where you are "hit". That baton advertised 900,000 volts (900 kV). It is just painful. A "Taser" will actually shoot two prongs into you and cause Neuro-muscular Interruption.. more than just pain, this usually causes temporary loss of motor control, those are 50,000 volts. I can get into it, but thats the idea.

If you look at all youtube videos relating to pepper spray testing, it appears that most of it are unefficients. Did you try a lot of pepper spray before doing this video with the best one ?

@mobidhic I just went to the store and asked for a 1-2 shot (about 5 sec worth) pepper spray. There are lots of brands that work great, the higher % of "capsaicin," which is a chemical derived from the fruit of plants in the Capsicum genus, including chilis, the better. As @ssips720 points out it was a direct hit, so you still have to be carefully to spray the person in the face before you run out. Don't spend more than $10 US for a small container.

pepper spray may or may not work some ppl dont feel it when theyre drunk or high... it really depends on the individual... most ppl i see in police videos (that i've watched) begin to blink immediately but i dont see them go down fast. i think its like the guy in the video here says its great for blinding them (i always see them blink).. that cud give u a window of opportunity to haul ass but for u to take them down? i duno.. normally cops follow up with a taze if subject is resistant.

yeah im a security officer :p i haven't had much experience using tasers but in our training we are tuaght (when using OC) to spray from the bottom up in 1 rapid motion (like don't point it strait at the face).Start shooting in a line upward stopping at the head. We are tuaght that way incase they duck. Also beware of ppl with towels, caps, cloths... never tell them or warn them that ur going to OC them becuz caps and other objects can be used to BLOCK OC. BEWARE OF WIND CONDITIONS!

I have seen just about all, and I mean ALL the pepper spray videos on youtube, and just came across this one. It is by FAR the best demo and comparison of stun gun vs pepper spray. Thank GOD it was not Fox 5.3 spray, but at least you get the picture. It is VERY accurate, especially as it demonstrates the shortcomings of stun guns. This guy GABE is the absolute BEST for going thru with this. Wow!!! Oh, and btw, his suggestions for relieving the pepper spray pain are accurate. Non-lethal!

Seems to me that the 10 ft range vs direct contact is the deciding factor.

At close range, some maniacs could shut you down before you could connect with the tazer, especially if you're a smaller person.

Pepper spray keeps you out of range, hopefully until it takes effect.

I have been sprayed with Triple Action Mace Brand Pepper Spray with OC Spray and Tear Gas. It was the most painful experience I have ever had. The Tear Gas keeps vaporising the entire 30 minutes it is on your face making you choke and gag the entire time.

Even when it is legal to carry a concealed firearm, it is not always legal to use lethal force. In nearly every jurisdiction you have to be able to prove that you were acting in defense against your life or serious injury (i.e. rape or maiming). Having pepper spray is an excellent addition to a concealed weapon, allowing you to try to handle the situation in a non-lethal fashion, but still having a lethal option if the situation escalates.

There is a difference between a TASER and a stun gun. The TASER operates using involuntary physical compliance, meaning you don't have a choice to overcome it. The pepper spray operates by pain comliance, meaning it depends on hurting you so much that you stop what you're doing. I'd say the TASER is more effective and better than either the stun gun (which is what you used) or the pepper spray.

When you were waving the person doing the spraying on to spray even more mace on you I thought .....oh man, that's really gonna hurt. That was one hell of a huge dose of pepper spray.

The problem with this video is that you are NOT taking the stun gun's shock properly... Stung guns are only effective if you shock someone in the TORSO (chest, stomach, back, etc). A stun gun will only hurt if you do it to someones limbs. Test the stun baton on your torso for 3-5 seconds and you might even pass out for a few minutes. The pepper spray is also a great tool for self defense though.

I recommend carrying a pepper spray and a stun gun. They work wonders together!

Limbs DO tend to hurt more and are sometimes affected differently than torso/chest etc. I should have explained-when getting attacked most people use it on the attacker's arm OR the attacker grabs it from them (or tries to). The problem is when you use it through clothing the effectiveness is greatly reduced. (Trust me on this one). The pain is the bad part once you get past the fear. I should have explained that aspect in more detail, my bad.

Lol I'm not a Gangsta; and well shocking to the arm or legs will only make someone back off, it will never drop them to the ground. What I meant in the previous comment was that a stun on the limbs will only cause pain, not momentary incapacitation; which is what people look for in stun gun usage.I do agree it looses effectiveness when done through clothing, but if an attacker has a simple t-shirt (NOT a Snow-proof coat) it wont be much of a difference. Spray + Shock for 5 seconds and no get up!
