  • under a quarter million views? surely thats wrong coz this song is fucking EPIC.

  • simply amazing... words cant express how this song is

  • FUCK YEAH I GREW UP IN SEATTLE! PEARL JAM FOREVER!

  • it took me a long time to enjoy " No Code" album..just nearly as much as it took for "kid A" of Radiohead, or even longer, especially this song

  • PEarl Jam=Awesome= 4ever

  • :-)

  • Dios dejanos verlos en Costa Rica en noviembre!!!

  • @calixto27 si mae! no puedo esperar :) siempre he querido que toquen esta pieza

  • rickenbacker

  • the six ppl who dissliked this have no clue what real music is all about.

  • how does he write such great songs

  • What is Jeff doing during the second chorus? It sounds like another song! Pity. Incredible version of an incredible song though. I envy so much all those lads there, you lucky bastards:)! thanks for uploading mate.

  • Grandi!!!

  • Classic Pearl Jam

  • perfect song

  • yes, they r the best american band ever. there is a lot of greats. this group[i know, ill be 40 next month]is with me for life

  • 6 people think it makes more sense to live in the past, or the future. But why?

  • One of my all time PJ songs. Too bad they're playing it waaaaay too fast =/

  • You can spend your time alone, redigesting past regrets or you can come to terms and realize you're the only one who can't forgive yourself...

Makes much more sense to live in the present tense.

The past will suck you down like quicksand. Keep moving forward.

  • First video I added to my favorites after deleting my other YouTube account. I just quoted to the lyrics to a troubled friend the other day. What a great statement made by a great band. I love you Mike, Eddie. Here's to not wasting any more time alone, with my past or my current regrets.

  • just so beautiful

  • 6 people are living in the past, cannot forgive themselves

  • sarei voluto essere lì....... magico!!! pearl jam rules...!!!

  • I had chills throughout the ENTIRE song. I saw them play this live about eight years ago and I had chills back then, too. This song is SO powerful. Thank god for Pearl Jam.

  • i just came

  • you haven't seen a show until you've seen Pearl Jam... I have 18 years ago and last year....still amazing

  • They played this in Montreal in 2003 when I was there. Words couldn't describe what it was like. I still get a chill running through me when I hear this song.

  • Piss of Royal Marines!

  • I hate 6 people

  • Wow, this has never happened to me before. There are 665 likes, so I don't want to "like" this, and take on the controversial next number.

  • Beautiful...

  • The next time PJ goes and tour go see them!!! Be prepared for a show similar to this one but obviously larger scale. It's all about the music they don't have laser beams all of that unecessary crap. I saw them in St. Louis earlier this year and not counting breaks between sets and encores nearly THREE hours of the best PJ you could ever see. They put on every show like it's there first or last one.

Not many more of these kinds of bands left that are in the mainstream.

  • @maddogwally Yep...totally agree.. Forget how many times I've seen them... I think about 9 or 10 times and they never disappoint... as MADDOGWALLY said...no fancy lasers or whatever...just a rock band rockin out for 3 hours

  • @maddogwally i saw them back in the day and a few years ago.best shows ever and the crowed energy is just great

  • @maddogwally I agree...seen them over 10 times and they always amaze me.... always a 2.5 to 3 hour show...no fancy lights but just rock and roll !

  • @maddogwally

going in June. Cant wait. Havent seent eh boys since 2000. Been a fan from the very start. :D

  • 6 Jotitos pressed the wrong button yo

  • any date on this performance?

  • They did this and a few more after the Letterman Show that day..

    What a luck audience!

  • this song really saved me

  • speechless again!!!! 4min eddie give up the wine!!!!

  • speechless again!!!!

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • omg! ive never ever had goosebumps like this before!!!!!!

  • Unbelievable!!!

  • Obviously sung at david letternams place, Anyway I will carry on. Dont fear dont lie, dont be scared, never fear anything!!!!! it is your life! dony fear or lie about it! no more fear fucking dont be scared about how you feel dont be scared of who you are, why doubt how u feel to upset other people, if you love her tell her, if you hate them tell them dony fear how you feel. dont have regrets. please rate! because i am my words

  • funnest song to sing along to

  • that's why this song and No Code are so underrated!!

  • una de las presentaciones mas hermosas que vi de pj en los ultimos años

  • I read a comment below that says All American Band. What is that?

  • which year was that?

  • COLD CHILLS

  • LOVE this band!!!!

  • great song

  • One of my favourite songs by this band but if it was there worst it would still be great because these guys can't write a bad song to save their lives.

  • Someday I'll se them live...

  • Small but big crowd :'o

  • Eddie doesn't sound like he feels good, but yet the performance is still good. Great lyrics

  • one of my fav PJ songs and this one gav me chills. this band is the best ever.

  • and I cry.

  • Don`t need anything more than this! Keeps me believing in GOOD!

  • i would go to a show even if he just babbled on the whole time

  • why did he mention only mccready??

  • @pmxf27 because he was giving the other guys time to tune for this song

  • @pmxf27 coz mike wrote this song

  • @thecosmicstring magic.....

  • Best band on the planet......

  • Pearl Jam is one of the greatest bands of all time. Their new album really has put them back into the mainstream. I love them so much because of moments like this, live shows. I have seen them 7 times, and they get better and better every time. ROCK ON!

  • Awesome performance

  • When will people realize how great No Code actually was????? God Bless Pearl Jam!!! The Greatest Rock-N-Roll Band of our lifetime!!!

  • @bgdaddykul I totally agree No Code was so underrated I love a lot of songs of that album :)

  • @bgdaddykul i agree 100 percent

  • @bgdaddykul Agreed... agreed.

I think it was disliked so much when it was released because it was such a drastic break from the first three albums. By that I mean, the sound, the song structure, lyrics, mood, and overall style. I find it to be such a rich, personal album and you can hear Ed's influence, if not complete "permeance" as a song writer.

  • @bgdaddykul yeah dude.. i'm just reading the newly released Pearl Jam Twenty book that is a crazy detailed bio of like day by day the last 20 yrs... and during the 'No Code' retrospective everyone (besides Eddie) including producer Brendan OBrian is kinda like talkin shit about "No Code". And I'm like "Dude WTF? It's At least in their top 3 albums in total. Hail,Hail--Who You Are--In my Tree--Smile--Off He Goes ain't a bad first half..lol, then Red Mosquito and Present Tense are great too" w/e

  • @JeffOxBig Don't forget Lukin lol, even Mankind and Sometimes are cool songs.

  • @JeffOxBig

no code is their best album as of today.

    and a milestone in music.

one of few records i am honestly "proud" of having it my shelf.

  • look at this audience.. gosh, im in my late 20s & grew up listening to p.jam, kind of lost them in the way.. but i mean this crowd represents 2-3 generations..!

that really says something about p.jam, specialy nowadays, when most of the music made is ''removable'' and easily forgotten.

  • 3:28 blinkin' Eddie

  • I think that this audience mistaken lady gaga's concert with PJ's, man i wish i was there.

  • What album is this off of ?

  • No Code

  • i love pj but boy is this a gay audience...

  • @janellsis No, the thing is that women are mostly dumb and do not listen quality music like Pearl Jam.

  • @andydufresne87 dont agree.. if u dare to say something like that.. lol.. u cant see at all what they are about ^^ ..

    great song jeez!

  • @RoxieRoxBanana Do you really think i care what you think, yeah right...

  • @janellsis how so?

  • Just love the lyrics, how they render Christian faith madness in a nice uplifting way w/o being a bit hateful or condescending.

'Have you the belief that the road ahead ascends off into the light?' Instead of praying for God's forgiveness 'you can come to terms and realize you're the only one who can forgive yourself', and

instead of living for afterlife 'Makes much more sense to live in a present tense.'

  • you suck

  • aaaah...chills down my spine.

  • I want mike's flying V

  • i was listening to this for the first time and when the chorus hit in i was like "Holy Fucking Shit.....Did I Just Shit Myself"

  • This is a great song but it sounds so much more powerful live

  • just...GREAT !!!!!

  • meglio l'originale

  • how can you say they arent an all american band? go fuck yourself dude

  • wow...I never saw this performance, but it's an really amazing version of present tense! the audience is great, too :)

  • PJ is amazing

  • amazing riff.....

  • Best All American Band Ever!

  • @slickcross theyre not american, theyre Seattlen

  • @cameronza24 Not to be a prick, but actually Stone is the only one from Seattle. Eddie = Illinois, Mike = Florida, Jeff = Montana, and Matt = California. But yes, they did all move to Seattle and become a major part of the Seattle Sound.

  • @slickcross skip the american part bro, just the best band EVER

  • I just love how Eddie stumbles on his words at the beginning. He's such a great guy... one of my idols.

  • I've spent the best 6 minutes and 50 seconds of my life right now...

  • @andydufresne87 So right.. cant be better described..

  • @andydufresne87 I couldn't agree more =)

  • Great to see the audience singing.

  • chills.

  • I dont usually comment on YouTube, but I feel I have to.

Thanks for uploading this. This is simply one of the best versions of one of the greatest Pearl Jam tracks of all time.

I thank you. You have certainly made an man very happy.

  • sounds like he had a bit of a sore throat...Poor Eddie. I love this song... Getting a Tattoo to represent this song very soon.

  • What kinda tattoo then?

  • a tree... most likely a tree of life, and sneaking in a "PJ" somewhere with in ...with a red bird flying out of the tree to represent my daughter, and the time my life changed for the better. And then script around it all with the lyrics "Makes much more sense, to live in the present tense"

  • EDDIE VEDDER 4 PRESIDENT

  • no code in my opinion is after ten and 5vs1 the best album of pearl jam, but i love vitalogy and yield too.

  • the part the crowd sings is incredible...you know everyone there was die hard jamily

  • The Foundation all the way cant wait for August, Molson amphitheater should be unreal.........!

  • probably the best pj song ever!!

  • any songs from new album yet?

  • One of the best songs of the 90s!!

    UNDERRATED!!!

  • So now I have next PJ night...

  • shame about the dumbass crowd

  • I absolutely adore this .. best song ever after Black

  • Haven't heard this song in years and have missed it but as usual, MC just sped it up TOO MUCH in the middle section. C'mon guy, what's the hurry??!? This is supposed to be slow burner of a tune and sounds better (to me) when it's slower. Jack / Dave please come back, all is forgiven....

    Just my 2 cents.

  • You must remember though that Pearl Jam as a band has gotten tamer since around the Yield album. Yes the Yield,Binaural and Riot Act albums had a couple faster more rocking songs but there weren't as many on those

albums as there was on Ten,Versus,Vitolagy and No Code. Also Pearl Jam just doesn't play with the same young rage they first had obviously but yo

u cant hold that against them given the fact those days are over. They still my fave band all time!

  • I prefer Matt, you prefer Dave .. tastes are

  • luicanodutto is right

    compare a song like blood

abruzezze is the best drummer they had, for the old songs

    then Jack

    then Matt

But Cameron rips at the new songs, the best (probably)

  • Very weak statement about Matt Cameron by Lucianodutto. If you can drum for Soundgarden then you can drum for anyone. I question not his drumming but i do question your knowledge of Rock.

  • In that youre right, he must be a very good drummer for playing with pearl jam and in early years with soundgarden. Maybe pearl jam asked him to simplify the songs, but i dont know I listed to the songs play by Dave Abbruzzese and they are much better!

  • 2:19 - 2:47- fucking beautiful..

  • THAT DRUMMER IS THE WORST THEY HAD!

  • fuck you!!!matt is great drummer ...
