  • They are politicians. Interns would be doing the actual work. They would just sign it after legal was done with the review.

  • A declaration of independence should be 2 Megabytes

  • i like very much

  • luv music. PERIOD.

  • I want this file. NAO.

  • Lol, this is adorable.

  • As a history and computer junkie...this is awesome.

  • Nerds.

  • Lol ahahaha

  • This is so awesome. Geniuses!

  • Clippy: i see your trying to Declare independence, i can help click one of these links..

  • Oh the irony, I was working on a Paper involving the Jefferson Bible when i saw him staring at me in the corner of my Word Doc in the advertisment.

  • That's pretty funny.

  • funny

  • I was working on a cover page for a literature paper as well. WORD STARTER and Frugality FTW!

  • Ironically I was working on a Political Science assignment when I saw this ad of the video. lol :p

  • @TawNyandG I was working on a Cover Page for my American Literature paper when i seen the ad in the bottom right hand corner lol!

  • @TawNyandG Same here

  • cc: 10dow@uk.gov

  • 61 people are from England

  • haha this was funny :)

  • Compared to this, Open Office seems like a big joke.

  • can i get 1 copy of this???

  • omggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg i loved it i loved the idea i loved the music ..... its greattttt

  • Wow office 2010 looks great!

  • Should we export this to Libya now?

  • Someone is a Parks And Recreation fan!! Seriously, ever heard of copyright!!

  • Wow this tine doesn't resemble the Parks and Recreation theme song AT ALL.

  • JOHN ADAMS NOT SAM ADAMS

  • such an interesting video, haha. it's just cool to think about them in our time

  • Fun! But you left out Adams and Jefferson's wrangling over unalienable/inalienable.;-)

  • crazy vid man!!!

  • almost sounds like the Parks and recreation theme song lol

  • @myronigus almost??? It's a rip off!! They should be glad they haven't gotten sued!

  • This isn't at all like Google Docs! lol

  • @F1sh9811

    It's not supposed to be.

    This video is featuring Word.

  • I could only imagine that Ben Franklin would mess everything up if he used a computer. Everyone else would have Windows, and he would have a Mac with Pages rather than a real computer.

  • Make sure to change "all men are created equal" to "all people are created equal."

  • And it's weird that Firework is the first suggested video.

  • Fuck Bill Gates that Eugenicist son of a whore

  • @deceiver123m .....and I'm a pc

  • @TheSaber2ooth me too.

  • @TheSaber2ooth pc's offer a simplicity not found in apple products.

  • How about this... I hold this truth to be self-evident. Microsoft has given me the last reason I need to download, use and contribute to the development of Open Office... Why not take it a step further and "reimagine" the writing of the Qur'an? What a disgrace. Sorry that Bill and Co has so little respect for one of the most important moments in our nation's history that they felt it ok to turn it into a farce and a joke. If you wonder what's wrong with the country, look no further.

  • @vt92psyc Is it really necessary to tie everything to politics. Perhaps that is "what's wrong with the country". There is always something wrong with any country. Live and have some fun once in a while!!

  • @speng01 - Well, first, it really wasn't funny, at all. Maybe if you're a MS geek, but other than that, with regards to comedy this was a massive failure regardless of the subject. If you want to see something truly funny with regards to politics, check out Lewis Black... Second, if you don't take some things seriously, you'll wake up wondering one day what happened.

  • @vt92psyc and if you dont have humor, people will think you are an asshole

  • @tallonrk1 Too late for that :) I already think he is one.

  • this is wrong x.x

  • This was kind of hilarious. However, the founding fathers would be sickened on how our country has progressed.

  • I use open office writter

  • Cool, but i like it how there was no buffering back then.

  • Interestingly, I was writing a paper about the Boston Tea Party when I saw "Microsoft Word's Decalration of Independence" on the corner of my screen. Well, that was inspiring :)

  • I tried this, but Windows ran an auto-update while I went to make a coffee and I lost the document. Havedecided to use pen & parchment instead.

  • Hmmh what is the name of the font?

  • @seijuntji It's called Jefferson.

  • what was the point of that?

  • @sunopal1a have u buy microsoft .

  • @Thedude90000 speak english.

  • @sunopal1a the people who worked on vista obviously got demoted.

  • @randomperson2538 ya, I will never get those two minutes back.

  • Great! Now, if only you could make the same amount of improvements on MS Publisher, things would be perfect. I like Publisher better than Word. Word always messes up my graphics!

  • I love the constitution. The writers where scientists that wanted to see how small Govt. could be without falling apart. The Idea of a Govt. that took almost half you income and started wars all over the world was despicable in their eyes. Good thing they saved us from that! lolz (not)

---- I gave you a Republic.... if you can keep it. - Ben

  • excellent work gents. Good show, good show

  • Gotta love word, but the new one is so slow to start up..

  • @Soullight86 Really? Word 2010 starts up in like 1.5 secs for me.

  • This isn't spam, it's sarcasm. Well deserved sarcasm, at that. Youtube, if you delete this, I will lose whatever little respect I have left for you...

  • This is absolutely brilliant.

  • 42 people were disappointed that this wasn't Parks and Recreation.

  • This is a great video. However, there is [at least] one big problem: the Declaration was not penned in Jefferson's handwriting. Jefferson authored it (with help from others). It was Timothy Matlack's penmanship that you see on the Declaration of Independence. So, Microsoft...I hate to say it, but you might want to redo this video to also include Matlack and his handy work.

  • I wonder how this plays in the UK?

  • I chuckled heartily. The mix of "LOL" and "indubitably!" was just right.

Huh. I liked something Microsoft did. What IS the world coming to?

  • And to think, the Founding Fathers did it without all this stuff!!

  • That is cool.

  • This is pretty insulting to the founding fathers...

  • Gentlemen,

I don't have Word 1776. I have 1773, so I can't read this. Please resubmit in a compatible format, or better yet, as a .pdf.

    Sincerely,

    King George

  • @jub0r I see what you did there. xD

  • @jub0r - PERFECT reply!!!

  • CUTE!

  • John Adams helped write the Declaration, NOT Samuel Adams.

    How startlingly ignorant.

Getting history straight should have trumped lame-ass beer humor.

  • @ejmaffei1 Yup. While Samuel Adams did sign it, John Adams was the one that helped write it.

  • @ejmaffei1 Well said.

  • Since it's Word, they were able to deliver the Stuxnet virus as a document macro.

  • This almost makes me want to buy Word and join the cloud. :D

  • Hotmail accounts are so 235 years ago.

  • I don't have that Jefferson font. What gives?

  • Microsoft is so un-crative.

    Google

  • Cute. I like it.

  • I guess Microsoft has a bit of a different idea of what 'independence' means compared to Webster's. This video is ironic to say the least.

By the way- thanks for letting comments like this actually show up. I like the guys at Microsoft- you're making much better software these days. I hope you're not offended that I won't use it- I guess I value my independence too much to do that. :\

  • Get google chrome and download the office web app an you can use all of Microsoft office for free and the only bad part is you need Internet but it's better than paying $150

  • Pretty imaginative, but such a lengthy imagination. I know a lot can happen due to this type of technology. Can we convince the politicians to get along, to just change a few words here and there to avoid going into further debt or most especially defaulting on the debt we already have? Some people say we have the money. Well, where is it. In the hand of the rich Republicans that got the bailout!

  • Funny, well-done and entertaining. Thank you!! From a few comments below I see that SOME people have nothing better to do than criticize everyone else. Um, what have you guys created today!?

  • Now we gotta do it again, with the Constitution!

  • That has been posted:

    A. Never before

    B. Once before

    C. Way too many fucking times

    D. A couple of times, just so people see it

    Is that your final answer?

  • lol, king@uk.gov xD

  • Twenty redcoats do not approve of this video.

  • can't believe Microsoft didn't know the difference between Samuel Adams and John Adams... JOHN helped draft the declaration of independence, not his cousin Samuel.

But then again, saying wrong things about the history of american independence seems to be the popular thing nowadays...maybe someone will try and edit wikipedia now to cover up microsoft's mistake ;)

  • Aawesome stuff, guys.  :=)

  • so this is good right,,, i m wanting it but no sure

  • This video is pretty clever. I had to laugh.

  • I can't wait to forge my passport in this! =D

  • I loved how you could see the edits they all were making in real time. Oh wait -- you can't do that in MSFT Word. But you can in Google Docs.

  • @bbordelon You obviously haven't used Office 2010 to collaborate.

  • LOOOL "TJ"

  • samuel adams status, "Beer Anyone"

  • LOL at the e-mail address of Ben Franklin xD 1:34

  • The music sounds very similar to the Parks & Recreation theme.

  • Does anybody know what that music is, it is wonderful ?

  • the emoticon use by Jefferson just flat out made me laugh.

  • Why does all the US president have @hotmail address. I'm gonna email to one of em ;)

  • It's very entertaining, but it also gave me tons of ideas on how I can maximize my use of MS Word 2010.Styles and effects are cool ways to make your papers look more compelling!

  • i cant talk to pple on msn on mines :S

  • LOL, this is great.

  • fake

  • @sezuor Fail

  • Hey what a creativity.....well thought

  • hey lovely video.... Hilarious

  • THIS IS THE PARKS A ND RECREATION THEME SONG!!

  • que tiene de nuevo esto???

  • que tiene de nuevo esto???

  • LoLz.. crazy old farts ey

  • Great Stuff !!!

  • What was the song? :D

  • This is the exact imitation of a Google's "Declaration of Independance" Wave made in november 2009 !!!

    I can't believe MS is so un-creative !

  • @realsupercopter Exact? Google's version is a boring demo without music: watch?v=M7wGMgf0opU

  • @VCat2006 : the video you linked is NOT from Google...

Google's version is not a video but a wave (a dynamic doc/mail that you can playback).

The idea IS exactly the same : collaborative doc + chat + funny comments

  • @realsupercopter Isn't that a video of the Wave, though? Did he leave out nice music?

  • @VCat2006 that's indeed a video of the Wave. But you can't honestly compare a MS video with a user-generated screen capture. Note how MS video is zoomed on the active part of the screen: a view of the whole screen would have looked awful (too small to read at least). If Google had made a video of their wave it would certainly have been zoomed, with live-typing and with music - but then MS wouldn't have made such an obvious copy !

  • @realsupercopter Probably, but Google dropped the ball on this oppertunity. It's called competition, suck it up.

  • @VCat2006 Yeah... Anyway, I'm not fan of schoolyard argument, have the last word if you want!

  • 11 people are Tories.

  • Hahaha, awesome!

  • this was awesome

  • They should have saved this commercial for the Superbowl.

  • Totally awesome! I had to share it with Facebook! Where was this video for July 4th?

  • So many positive comments on Youtube for a video linked to by an ad? I guess the bots are in full swing today.

  • Couldn't they have sent this on 2003? I don't have the compatibility pack :|.

  • Haha. This is cute.

  • xD is very funny, i like song for this video

  • i liked this(: our founding fathers via modern day XD

  • EPIC :D

  • ( Ahhw! All just wording... )> -.-

  • @ListenToMcMuck

    ([°)ئ(.])<( Yeah! & there4 it has 2 B true. )

  • Nice.......

  • @CleverClothe Ummm... Here's what wikipedia...Sam did sign as one of the MA colony reps but it was cousin John that helped draft it along with Jefferson, Franklin and Sherman.

  • John Adams, not Samuel Adams helped write the Declaration of Independance.

  • @rogeresmith Perhaps you should go back to school. Even wikipedia knows better.

  • how do you go on navigation

  • @CrazyEskimo1212 Dumbass. I'm using a Mac, but I'm not so conceited.

  • That was fun....

  • Wow! This music indeed sounds just like the Parks and Recreation theme song!! Quite a rip off if you ask me...

  • hahaha I'm watching this ad over and over! I always knew Ben was such a cool guy ... LOL

  • AMAAAAAAAAAAAAZING. i want it :DDD

  • lol: king@uk.gov!

  • Awesome!

  • Fantastic! I've never seen anything like this before!

  • LOL, very funny. Now I need a slow motion version to learn some the tricks.

  • Good
