i think that Piper is sincere but the the doctrine of hell needs to be studied more. I don't think the doctrine is correct, my current opinion. There are indications that sin and sinful people will perish, burn up and out in hell in the Bible. Remember, Hebrew thinking is cyclical, not linear. Forever and ever isn't what we might think it means. These are just some tidbits to include in our thinking.Our doctrine, Paul says, is what separates TRUE gospel from False gospel.We need to get it right!

@bagospannerz I believe it has to do with how vile sin is vs how holy God is. We have free will, we can choose to follow God or reject him. I do not think any of us truly understand how utterly horrible it is to reject God, the one who made us, to spit in his face by doing the things that he hates, we blaspheme his name. According to your non-hell ideology, why would Satan lie and invent a hell? What does it matter if we believe in hell or not? Why do you care? We're all going to be saved and live eternally in bliss with Jesus. Why would you or anyone else care what someone else believes if belief is completely inconsequential?
You may say that we will receive rewards depending on our faith or actions, but that would similarly be illogical in light of your very interpretation of the Scriptures that declare God always does nothing but wondrous things, will save all, and will do the best for all (otherwise it wouldn't be wondrous).

i think that Piper is sincere but the the doctrine of hell needs to be studied more. I don't think the doctrine is correct, my current opinion. There are indications that sin and sinful people will perish, burn up and out in hell in the Bible. Remember, Hebrew thinking is cyclical, not linear. Forever and ever isn't what we might think it means. These are just some tidbits to include in our thinking.Our doctrine, Paul says, is what separates TRUE gospel from False gospel.We need to get it right!

@bagospannerz I believe it has to do with how vile sin is vs how holy God is. We have free will, we can choose to follow God or reject him. I do not think any of us truly understand how utterly horrible it is to reject God, the one who made us, to spit in his face by doing the things that he hates, we blaspheme his name. We are easy going on sin because we are sinners, he took sin so seriously that he crushed his blameless son under his holy wrath so that we could be reconciled to him.

Sin is like a drug but has a greater hold over you, like the drug addict you refuse its a problem. Once you hit rock bottom due to your sin you will know that what I am saying is true. As far as Biblical illustration of hell as a place of eternal punishment, there's plenty. However, if you don't want to believe it, you can craftily use all the exegetical gymnastics to explain it away. But, since you asked, the story of Lazarus and the rich man is the most clear.

Do you believe that someone who lived a good life and only ever did one thing wrong, such as steeling a lemon from a neighbour's tree, but never knew jesus christ as their personal lord and saviour should be punished for eternity in hell? That is what makes no sense whatsoever.

Most Bible believing churches believe in the same basic doctrines. I will not discount God because there are men that pervert the Bible, or distort what it says. The Bible tells us to be weary of false teachers, why does it surprise you that they are there today preaching a corrupted version of the gospel?

You can't even agree on how to perform baptism or at what age you should be baptized. How anyone can have any faith in the validity of the bible when considering the messed up state of the so called church of the holy god is beyond me. I care not as to when one denomination wants to baptize vs another, these are semantics. The main parts on what one must do to be saved is quite clear and again most Bible believing churches agree as to what constitutes salvation.

Scripture says that God is the God of the Living, not the Dead (Matthew 22:32, Luke 20:38), and so Hell is complete sepparation I think. But then also I'd have to deal with the idea of the wicked being tormented" in the prescence" of God (Revelation 14:10)

I believe that in heaven we still have our power of free will, unlike earth it'll be easier to be good than bad. John 3:36 being one of them. just go to an online bible site and type in keyword search WRATH. youll find hundreds of verses. you cannot understand the gospel until you understand his wrath. Some vessels are made for honorable uses and some for dishonorable uses.
But in the midst of ALL THIS, we are ALL fulfilling the parts that we were meant to play. And in DOING SO, we are helping to TEACH humanity the difference between Good and Evil.
And "THAT" was God's Plan from the BEGINNING!
Adam and Eve did not eat the fruit and catch God off guard!!! God KNEW and PLANNED that they do so. And in DOING SO, they set the wheels in motion, for man to LEARN GOOD AND EVIL!

EmeiBaguazhang, it is simply not scriptural to say that all men will go to heaven. ''For the gate is small, and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.'' I know you want to believe that everyone is saved, but it's just not true. That is why we are commended to preach the gospel, for it is through Christ that we are saved, ''but if you do not have the Son, you do not have the Father.'' That indicates that there is a possibility to not have the Son/eternal life!

What about the people that Jesus says this to: 21 Not everyone who says to me, Lord, Lord, will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; but he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
23 Then I will tell them, I never knew you. Depart from me, you who work iniquity. If you take mat. 7 in context there is no way you can say that all are saved. God bless you brother

Your working off of the assumption that when God says that certain people will NOT inherit the Kingdom of God or of heaven, that means that they will NOT be ACCEPTED some day!
The people who do NOT enter the Kingdom of Heaven are those who miss the "FIRST CUT", NOT of anything they did or did not do, but because GOD DID NOT CHOOSE them!!

And I'm going to try and emphasize the fact that I'm not doing this out of any anger or hatred but rather out of love, and a love for scripture as well, which is why even if someone replies I probably won't reply just for the sake of getting into an argument on youtube which I've seen so often happen when ti comes to spiritual debate.

According to your non-hell ideology, why would Satan lie and invent a hell? What does it matter if we believe in hell or not? Why do you care? We're all going to be saved and live eternally in bliss with Jesus. Why would you or anyone else care what someone else believes if belief is completely inconsequential?

You may say that we will receive rewards depending on our faith or actions, but that would similarly be illogical in light of your very interpretation of the Scriptures that declare God always does nothing but wondrous things, will save all, and will do the best for all (otherwise it wouldn't be wondrous).

Finally, while it bothers me greatly to entertain your ideology even for the sake of debate, you must see the logic that follows: if you believe what you profess to believe, there is simply no eternal point for Satan to invent lies (not to mention the great variety of other issues that arise when you believe in an insidious and wicked Satan but no hell), nor would there be any point for you yourself to care in the slightest what people believe about hell (or anything else, for that matter).

Satan is the Master of Disinformation. It IS Satan's Job (Via God Himself) to be the Adversary to man.
I do NOT see any reason why, if Satan exists, there HAS to be a fabled pagan hell!
That makes NO sense what so ever.
Satan was created BY GOD to do a job; and that JOB IS to show the DIFFERENCE between Good and Evil and he is doing a heck of a job.
He is doing the Job that God himself, CREATED him to do.

Secondly he says: the wrath of God remains on them,...and I PRESUME, that means FOREVER!
Jesus nor any of the Apostles ever wrote or spoke the word "hell".
So if he wants to resign people to a place of eternal torment, he should name the correct place that God himself has said, with his own lips!!!
Secondly he "PRESUMES" to much!
Since God tells us that his Wrath will NOT remain on men forever. It tells us the EXACT opposite!!
God promises that is wrath is only temporal!

The FIRST thing this man says that is wrong is this: "If you believe, you have Eternal Life"!!
And what is wring with that statement is the way he is saying it. He makes it sound as if Eternal Life is NOT believing!
BUT,.... God says this:
John 17:3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
God DEFINES Eternal Life as Knowing God and Jesus Christ whom he has sent!!!!

Perhaps I'm just going on a rabbit trail...but the thought of eternal punishment or better yet, wrath as Piper said. Don't get me wrong now, I do believe that hell is eternal (so spammers and haters stay away...I have pepper spray).
What my question is though...Why was God's wrath on Jesus seemingly temporary unlike those who do go to hell, who's punishment is eternal? I'm not trying to spit poison or create my own religion but this is just a block that I haven't seem to figure out yet.
