  • That is a HUGE grub and one happy crow :3

  • Really amazing!

  • That's really wonderful. How birds can be innovative

  • "Now the pupil has a chance..... but decides to fail at life instead."

  • isn't this a pokemon....?

  • 3:18 is how Bear Grylls learned to get grubs to survive in the wild.

  • from 3:25, Younger bird "HEY MATE!!!......what you doing there...what...what's that.....let me just have a look" (other bird looks up) Younger bird "WHAAAAAATTT!....let me have a look....c'mon show us what you got there...let..me..just..poke...my...head...right in your way" (other bird leaves) "Finally it's my go....erm what's this thing...oh yep right...that WAS necessary....right well YOU'VE FUCKED UP AGAIN WELL DONE!!"

  • 1:08 thats what she said "thrust in really deeply"

  • "Now the pupil has a chance.... It hasnt got all the details exactly right"

  • These crows don't inherit their skills instinctively, they actually have to acquire them by learning. Most animals are born with 90% of their brain weight. Humans are born with 28% leaving a lot more space for learning. I wonder how large the brain of a newborn crow is.

  • i cant even find words to describe this.

  • Hahaha.. Funny how they poke at those grubs

  • poke poke poke poke poke poke

  • nature is smart

  • lol crows kicks ass!!

  • yuck! those grubs are so fat and UGLY!!! disgusting fatties! i think they should be speared instead! thank god for birds like these crows to eat these uglies.

  • @ 2:03 it sounded like he said "this log is clearly a good source of drugs" xP yeah, forest is full of birds smokin maruijana all day long

  • @ProtoType989 So true! When I heard it I cracked up so bad!

  • Never thought I'd see a bird that can fish...smart little buggers

  • Brilliant and creepy. Remember that it's using tools that allowed apes to evolve sentience. Having more time to think, literally.

  • Some researchers (like John Ostrom of Yale, et al) maintain that birds and dinosaurs belong to the same family. If birds use tools, it makes you wonder if some of the smarter dinosaurs also used tools...

  • Crows are possibly my favorite birds. So damn intelligent.

  • now i look at them differently i thougth they would pick up trash and death animal but hey they can use tool

  • SUPER SIZE MY CATERPILLAR

  • I love crows. They are just cool birds!

  • 2:52

That would annoy the shit out of me if I was a grub

  • lol

that would annoy me regardless if i was a grub or not

  • wow crows invented insect fishing

  • fishing? grubbing? not to much of a difference there jigging for them

  • lol!!! does this remind anyone of a certain pokemon!! Farfetch'd

  • yep

  • If you imagine the grubs are pasta, they look kind of yummy.

    To me, anyway.

  • I think they probably learned to use a stick from natives who ate the grubs

  • LOl funny and clever.

  • Did anyone else catch that quick shit at 0:42?

  • @loudereverytime Man, that's hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD

  • @loudereverytime they do that to reduce weight before a sudden take off, I use that trick to know when to take a picture on my camera

  • @loudereverytime

    now i noticed

    thnx..great to c t\dat my frend...

  • Grubs P'wned!

  • Lol. the grub is getting poked in the face before it dies

  • I need several of these experienced crows to eat the grubs from under my lawn. Chemicals just don't seem to work.

  • you know what does work actually works no joke. you get a beer, open it, cut of the top of the can, and shove it in the ground so the can feeds the ground with beer. The grubs will come to drink it and die of alcohol poisoning. you may need more than one can ofcourse and you should really try it, it only cost 4.50 for a 6pack of some cheaper type beer. bush or natty ice

  • Wow, noodling for grubs...

  • 1:08 thats what she said

  • 3:27 "Now ya see here? This is how ya go grubbin"

  • crows are cool

  • First they're poking us with sticks, next it'll be loud music and drunken shenanigans! The crows must go!

  • Hehe the crow ignores the inexperienced one like "I'm busy here...go away!"

  • whats more annoying.. being poked with a stick by a bird or having another bird watch while your being poked with a stick by a bird

  • the latter, indubitably. But even more annoying is watching a bird being poked by another bird with a stick, joining in, and then being poked back by both birds, who are of course armed with sticks.

  • But if you were to poke back a bird who is poking you, they'll just annoy you and thats not fun at all.

  • that's why you bring a monkey along.

  • Simply amazing!! These videos are so good..

  • crows again. :D

  • That is extremely cool.

  • The most interesting thing, that shows intelligence. Is that any other animal would give up and look for easier food. However, these crows do not give up. They keep using there tools to finish the job.

For itelligent animals getting the food is only apart of feeding. Sometimes the satisfaction of getting the job done is better than the reward.

  • No, I think not starving is more important.

  • crows are gonna evolve because they're passing their knowledge to other generations that makes evolution possible.

  • search for crows in japan.

  • such a cool video, i can see why DA has such a passion for studying life

  • Farfetch'd the pokemon!

  • poke poke poke bother bother bother annoy annoy annoy!

  • We used to have a pet crow. Long time ago.

  • holy shit.

ive never seen crows working like that before.

    i love dave attenborough.

  • the younger bird is a "tool" as always

  • haha "poke! your it!' XD

  • This is my favorite scene in all of Attenborough's "Life of Birds". The crows here are so intelligent and clever! Very engaging birds.

  • Lol I am a crow and I approved of this highly educational film for my coming generation caw caw~

But anyway woot go crows. I swear these birds can talk to magpies and squirrles...

  • man id be so pissed if i was that grub getting poked with a stick

  • Am I the only one who finds this hilarious?! Crows rock! LMAO at the part where the crow pisses the grub off by poking it. We can all learn from crows. The next time anyone annoys me, i shall poke them with a (sharp) stick. I might bypass the whole eating them alive thing though...

  • This is hilarious and funny . i love crows now.

  • The camera work is amazing. How did they place a camera inside the tree with the grub?

  • that's what I want to know

  • He uses an endoscope, an optical fibre tool for surgeries. One end is put in cavity you want to observe and the other end is attached to camera, which can be hold in hand.

  • Another beautiful example of intelligence being a great survival method in the process of natural selection. Obviously, being able to bite things that poke you isn't working out too well for the grubs there though.

  • These birds will kill us all one day.

    Mark my words.

  • Alfred Hitchcock gave us the warning

  • Crows are so intelligent, you should check other crow videos on youtube.

  • I am a grub and I have flagged this video as excessively violent!

  • Bite the stick, bite the stick.

  • Amazing what nature can come up with.

  • y'all are the "tools" being used here- watch the video and you might learn something. why do y'all need your computer to tell you who your crush is?

  • no fookin way dood. 1:0 for the crows ha ha :)

  • Damn.

  • i dont see any hammer or drills anywhere

  • Crows rule.

  • Absolutely amazing!

  • Evolution? I'd rather believe in the Creator of this beautiful example of "intelligent design"!!

  • Troll baiting? I'd rather see comments that have some relevance to the "crows"!!

  • 'Evolution? i'd rather waste my life believing in something that doesn't exist!!' If you don't believe in evolution then you are an ignorant cunt! plain and simple. This shows intellegence created through evolving, like us. not some invisible being zapping down crows from the clouds!

  • great comment! what is wrong with these people? watch greydonsquares videos 'atheist nation'

  • I didn't find it all that funny.

  • cleaver little bugger..

  • Wow amazing -just like Darwin's finches

Love David Attenborough & all his nature films

  • lol at the n00b bird at the end!

  • Amanzing.

  • Amazing, Thanks BBC, Great video

  • Yeah - thanks a lot for the clips, keep them coming!

    MaD pRoPs 2 AtTeNbOrOuGh ahaha

  • thank you for uploading this and the other Attenborough clips

  • cool

  • Some where there is a bird that gets some food from a pier then takes it down to the water and drops it in. A fish takes the bait and the bird gets a fish dinner instead of crumbs.

  • Wow, I can see this being the start of a beautiful relationship
