@sszorin oops. just saw the entry above where it was explained. as I said, I don't talk like that but others do. Lighten up. You don't have to like modern culture but it would be nice if you could understand it. (and you are using names such as subhuman, inferiority, and pouring gasoline in someone's house??? I think I'd rather hear the word that was originally used than YOUR ugly terms & hate. Check my channel. It is full of peace & fantastic music of many genres.)
@sszorin I have the feeling that that phrase was a big compliment. I don't talk like that but I feel it is like she's the "BOMB" which I hear overused...and other phrases. Lighten up & don't think Emmylou would like anyone gasoline bombing anyone for anything. Think YOU are missing the point of her music!
@eleven1189 Anytime I can hear a Townes tune played is OK by me, especially by the queen of the silver dollar! ELH has written a few great albums of her own over the past few years starting with Red Dirt Girl>Hard Bargain (latest creation)
Response to -eleven1189- Part 3. Those in power over the culture were not much interested in her, she did not fit into their agenda of promoting ugliness, lies and filth. She has been, as she once said,"fighting [for the music] in the trenches". I would advise you to have a serious "look" into her work, start with the first 5 albums. And please abandon listening to and promoting annoying nonsense like AC/DC. Their noise is ugly and causes a brain to degenerate. Aim for beauty. God bless Emmylou.
Response to- eleven1189 -Part 2- God watches over Emmylou, she is His gift to us. Her role on the US and the world music scene is very undervalued even though she has done [and some other musicians too] an enormous amount of work to basically save the american popular music from the degenerate sounds and styles of the [primarily] 80s and beyond, when the acoustic sound and roots, folk and country music were dismissed as passe. She has been a helper, a tutor and a music mother to many musicians.
Response to - eleven1189 - Part 1 - Try to be sane and do not post malicious comments, especially regarding Emmylou Harris, otherwise you might come to harm. Since you seem to be an ignoramus I will explain something to you. Ever since there was music and singing, people sang each other's songs. It is called "doing a cover" and it is a universal practice. If you do not like it then stop listening and start reading books instead. Emmylou can write her own songs, and beautiful they are too.
I remember first hearing Emmylou sing with Linda Ronstadt on Heart Like a Wheel way back when. Her voice still gives me goose bumps, and has never been equaled. This is so beautiful.
@sszorin oh my Jesus, nobody understands this phrase. People lately use "the shit" to mean "awesome"
i don't understand why that phrase exists, either, but if you google it,you'll know I'm not lying. I'm actually the biggest Emmylou fan. That's, you know, why everything else in my comment indicates that.
@WhoaThereMama ..on Earth there are "heads" and there are "sh.theads". Please do not count yourself as one of those who cannot master skills of discourse and constantly use words like sh.t and other profanities because their brain cannot handle the use of more than a few dozen words or because they have the inferiority complex and think that speech spiced with profanities will grant them a greater attention and respect. The opposite is true. Please clean up your language and join the human race.
@sszorin I'm not replying after this. I have two points to make:
-you used a run-on sentence
-cursing doesn't mean I'm illiterate. It means I curse.
Taking cursing as a sign of low class is your prerogative, but I guarantee you I'm very human and reasonably intelligent. For the record, I think calling people subhuman because of what you perceive is their musical taste is low-class behavior. Class is about respect, not refraining from saying the word shit.
@WhoaThereMama ..O.K to your good reply. I can live with what you said aside from a detail. You got somewhat upset and in the emotion of the moment you missed that I did not comment on your musical taste. I aimed at the expression "She's the sh.t". Understand that not everybody knows the intricacies of degraded language and the word 'sh.t' can mean exactly what it spells out. How could anybody know what exactly you meant ? I think we cleared up a point. Have a nice rest of your life. I mean it.
unbelievabel, a treasure, there is so few things known about Emmylou in that time, way back before she met Gram, and who knew Townes in that time, what kind of show was that by David Bromberg?
This is a lovely song. This is a good version of it, too. Another good cover of it was done in the late 90's by Paul K. from Lexington, KY.

Emmy Lou has already made it to my personal Country Music Hall Of Fame.
She has that special beauty that comes from inside and makes a home in her life

An excellent version of this song, by a beautiful and talented lady! I love Emmylou, and I love Townes Van Zandt's music.

I hope Emmylou doesn't mind my impertinance, but she is probably the most naturally beautiful woman America has produced.

@TheBobelcnu Just looking at google images and I'm amazed, she got better looking as she got older in a very natural looking way.
