  • I remember the day Caress Of Steel was released. In the group I hung with back then we thought it was the greatest album ever (at lease until 2112 came out). This is all news that it wasn't well received. Interesting.

  • 2:27 Geddy does the samba.

  • I love classic albums because of the commentary from the musicians themself.

  • can you buy this on DVD?

  • Can you buy this on DVD?

  • RIP John Rutsey

  • Caress of Steel was da bomb at least in my eyes...

  • @neinschlomo Glad I have my own eyes.

  • @neinschlomo Nah,its a stoner record,on a downer.imo

  • I didn't know Geddy and Alex already started writing progressive music when rutsey was with them, I thought they started to change when neil entered.

  • Terry Brown is right though. Caress was too much too soon. But, it garners a lot of appreciation knowing how well they've done since that time and deserves a good listen every now and again. Sort of like Floyd fans who only know Dark Side and everything after - takes them a while to warm up to Atom Heart Mother.

  • @jgworkstation There are those who became Floyd fans with Ummagumma and Atom Heart Mother and others who got into them with Meddle. Took them awhile to enjoy the pre-Ummagumma side. 2112 was their Ummagumma, the album that put Rush in the US Top 100 for the first time (like Ummagumma did with Floyd). When Pink Floyd's recording output diminished into the 1990s I got into Rush head-on and didn't look back.

  • THANK YOU!

    Cheers from Brasil [=

  • People don't like Caress of Steel very much, but I think it is a great album.

  • @fhatsumura Yes, Caress never got the attention it should have. I think it's a great album, from Fountain to Lakeside park... it's one of my personal favs. :)

  • @UltimateRushFan I totally agree. It's a shame they don't play those songs anymore. : \

  • @fhatsumura Yeah, my favourite's the necromancer

  • @fhatsumura

Yeah, and "The Fountain Of Lamneth" is a wonderful masterpiece.

  • RUSH's early music was unique at the time, and the only other group that I can think of that was playing music that was sort of similar to RUSH's lighter numbers is the band YES.

  • Funny how I thought all their best music was before 1981 ~ !!

  • @Jan4Solar I do think all of their best music was before 81' although I can appreciate and respect their work on Moving Pictures. I was introduced to RUSH when Permanent Waves came out, and became a die hard fan overnight, buying all of their other albums with my paper route money. I was 10 or 11. My buddy and I even turned down seeing the Stones with his uncles in 81' because we were so into RUSH at the time. That was a mistake because it ended up being the last time to see the Stones young.

  • @Jan4Solar It is, you'll never hear anything like 2112, or Hemeipheres again

  • PS Love this video! I hate the limit on characters with youtube......made my last post come across different than I intended BUT I had to keep cutting it back, which in turn took away from my approach and overall meaning.

Neil is one of my favorites but I hope one day I can make him a little better, if I ever land a Rush Producing Gig.Somewhere alot of u will hopefully hear me discuss drumming etc. atleast :), in a book or Documentary.

  • Glen Grotto: drummer that introduced Neil.Glen is an amazing talent who has the range of AC/DC's meter and feel to any Jazz project needs..He gave Neil a life, yet Neil just says "a friend introduced him".Neil, atleast give his first name + perhaps a skill endorsement. I am a huge Rush fan but Glen could get many Rock gigs where Neil(as unique as he is)could not. I am a musician and producer and Glen is one of the FEW great drummers. Most do not no that style, technique etc. IsNot=ToGreatFeel.

  • why didn't they make this one like the pink floyd one? i feel like they just rushed it. in the pink floyd classic albums they went over EVERY song. but in this one they went over 2112 in like 2 minutes. then they picked the songs that everyone knows from MP. this does a great band INJUSTICE!!!!!!!! but i think they have to do it the way the producers want it. you can tell they like pink floyd alot.

  • Sometimes major record labels can act like a totalitarian priesthood.

  • thank you so much for this upload!!

  • "...you should be able to do what you want to do, ya know? --without hurting anyone." hahaha i love Neil.

  • 1+2=3 1+2=3 2112=33

  • YYZ is the best song ever written to represent a Canadian band. And I don't think a lot of bands make a song that represents their nationality.

  • @jerrythepotato1919 - you must be a young and dumb little fucker

  • @theothertroll Same to you.

  • @jerrythepotato1919 ignore him, he's a troll, you can tell by anything

  • I don't get why 2112 and moving pictures are so praised. yes, they are both spectacualr albums, but Rush acived so much better (examples: Fly by night, A Farewell to kings, hemispheres, Permanent waves, Distant early warning).

  • @FuyuAkiWorld A Farewell to Kings and Hemispheres for me are Rush's perfection. Every time I listen I get chills.

  • @FuyuAkiWorld They seem to be the most well known albums by Rush across the whole music spectrum, but I definitely agree as a huge fan of them I would say practically all of their albums are brilliant in there own right, long live Rush my friend.

  • @RoCk4LiFe90 their*

  • it's like a mini and less detailed beyond the lighted stage

  • donna halper was fit.
