Galveston Revised: A tribute to those who served in Vietnam

My dear brother George 101st airborne died fighting in those jungles for 14 months. He was always my hero. It's been 44 years now and I still cry over him.

I pray he is with the Lord rejoicing.

I love each of you who served so bravely and I salute you with allo my heart and soul.

I'd watched your initial video of this many times & was moved. Your revision, with Webb's emotional version of the song, tears at my heart. It wasn't just the soldiers who felt this anguish; many of us, who waited at home, for their safe return, felt the loss and wondered what was to come. My soldier came home, but he was so changed. We married, but parted to remain friends. I lost him to cancer in 2002, but I lost my first love to the war in 1969. Thank you for this tribute to love. :)

I am truly moved by your comment and I thank you for what you have written. I did put young ladies in this video to hopefully express what you said and felt about those waiting at home.

And BTW, I love your name because Music does indeed Make Sunshine. I try to spend as much time at the seashore listening to the music and reflecting upon the many thoughts & images that enter my mind as I listen to the lyrics. And Music also Makes the Moon and the Stars shine on the water at night.

You did express my feelings, with your beautiful video. That is why I felt compelled to write. :) about the name! It just came out of my fingertips without thinking. I truely love music and get caught up in the lyrics, as well. I wish I lived near the seashore. I'm in the Mid-West and have the Great Lakes to visit and reflect. One of my favorite places is on the shore of Lake Superior, especially this time of year. It is Mother Nature, in all her splendor. A bit of Heaven, right here on earth.

Thank you for this video.. It brings home how my Dad must have felt when he was sent to Viet Nam. He still won't talk about how he felt or what happened. This video makes me want to hug him and tell him I love him even more. Thank You

I hope your father gets to see this video and says I caught the horror of war and the pain & suffering both physically and emotionally felt by those sent to fight their. The opening & closing scenes I hoped would capture how those served in Vietnam felt. Everyone I know who went their came back changed. I hope I caught that in this video with the pictures and with Webb's rendition.

I finally got my dad to talk about his experience in Vietnam. A friend of his that was in the same outfit as he was .. something called a lurp group. His friend was wounded bad in the shoulder and lost part of his leg too. He told my dad that he should tell us what he did and what happened. Dad finally did. It sounded so frightening and dangerous! I have always admired my dad.. but now that I know what he went through he is a real hero and I love him more! He watched the video and cried.

In fact, so great a tribute it is I would extend it as well to all present day Service Men and Women who have their own Galveston to long for, not knowing if they'll ever see it again... with your permission, that is. This is one of the finest posts I've ever seen. Thank you very, very much.

Thank you for your comment. In a way I did intend this to be a tribute, regardless of the conflict, to all service men & women who long to be home rather than where lives are taken in the name of Country or God.
