Its so fucked up its halariously good.

  • Sorry kids it's all been done before and these guys were doing it on heroin thinking death form nuclear holocaust was just around the corner, put that in your pathetic EMO pipe and smoke it.

  • @TheMrpoxman1 nice :-) 80s ftw.

  • OUTRAGEOUS! Lots of weirdos thrashing about with stupid costumes on to utterly bizarre music that sounds like someone let their 8 year old loose on a Casio.

  • this soundtrack is excellent

  • lady gagas mum is in this haha

  • Fuq no lady caca isn't original

  • I'm sorry, Dr. Warfield, I did misunderstand. I get carried away, what with the music. It was a toe-tapper, I must admit. It's rare to hear instrumentation these

days, what with folk singers, etc...

  • Just your typical 80s nightclub

  • This song's got Björk written all over it, man :D

  • Yay cocaine and shrooms!!

  • What the hell did i just watch??

  • This sounds similar to Duran Duran's new song.

  • SO THIS IS WERE LADY GAGA GOT HER LOOK???

    I KNEW SHE WASNT 100% ORIGINAL...... =/

  • @statikvision21 - she isn't even 1% original.

  • the Residents- by music?

  • @xymenez good guess but i dont think so

  • the Residenst - by music?

  • taylor swift too

  • Man , gansta was reading my mind .

  • This film is so crazy good!!! The art being presented in this is beyond words. I just bought this soundtrack on vinyl. Cost me a pretty penny, but to have "Me and My Rhythm Box" on vinyl is amazing!!!

  • @otterboi26

Ha I got the LP too. Cost me $40 but totally worth every penny IMO

  • The fashion in the 70's and 80's had alot originally I just wish my generation could have their own style....I love this...

  • this should be the new rick roll

  • 0:35 = Lady Gaga from the past!

  • @rexineffex dat aint mariah carey! LOL

thats the main love interest of the freaky androgynous character

she likes to shoot skag in the movie, whatever the fuck that means

    LOL

  • when art was god, and threw up on junkies.

  • around 1;40 you overwrote the "chicken dance" music under that footage with more music from the fashion show...which isn't the fashion show anymore. It is Margaret trying to interest the guy in some blow. I really like that music select ion too. Lately I just want to hear primitive, 80's synth music.

  • If you want a more elaborated understanding not based upon pop-culture, think this movie as a sort of filmic Post-revolution russian play, in the same vein as an acmeist work from Goumeliev, or something from futurist Maiakovski. It's the art to display scenes by deconstructing abstract concepts to render it absoludicrous. Besides, Slava Tsukerman comes from Russia. Indeed, probably it was probably one of his indirect sources of inspiration, with various artsy '70 flicks.

  • @nozoto From what I've read, the film happened because the Russians wanted to showcase their cheap special effects to the world, and the Americans wanted to tell a story about the New York Punk/Underground (unsigned) scene at the time.

I adore the film so much that I even called the cameraman, Yuri Neyman, in NYC just to chat with somebody about it...later I got into film making in LA, so it wasn'`t

a totally wasted experience I guess.

  • @powergirl901

You got into film making industry ? Wonderful !

Russians masterminds were Tsukerman, his spouse Nina Kerova, and the responsible of FX (I don't remember his name), Anne Carlisle herself represented mostly american interests on this indie project.

As a fellow russophile, as an enthusiast of various uncanny old shows / documentaries and as a hater of world of Fashion in general, I gotta love Liquid sky.

It's definitely a trippy gem of black humour.

  • @nozoto Anne Carlisle ended up righting a novel based on the movie in like 85. It's hard to find and expensive when you do find it.

  • For those who catch the reference, this really makes me remind of an album of Asterix, Asterix & the Cauldron. To recover money from a deprived guest of village, Asterix and Obelix once goes for acting. Their crew performs an avant-garde happening to shock rich Romans for entertainment. This flick has exactly the same exact approach, the same devices.

  • とぅるるるる~ xOx ~るるるるぅと

  • 0:35 = Lady Gaga

  • NEW WAVE, DRUGS, SEX, UNDERGROUND !!! BOWIE-LAND

  • this style....

    so perfect....

  • I wonder how many or what kinda drugs besides coke these people are on

  • o.0 what a bizzare yet creative scene

  • Has any1 actually seen the movie though? Its some pretty fucked up shit

  • The woman at :40 looks like Lady GaGa.

  • so impersonal... I love it..

  • Look! Amy Winehouse at 0:36 !!!

  • THIS IS CRANK

  • goofiest music i've ever heard

  • Even sounds like Lady Gaga's piece of shit music.

  • Lady GaGa tiene en la industria musical desde los 80´s nomas que no era conocida, miren un video de sus inicios...

    hahahahaha LFMAO!!

  • I'd like to see this again. Wasn't crazy about it when it first came out. All I cared about was the plot, and scenes like this one tended not to be related to the plot in a way that made me impatient. Now I realize it's all about the excesses of the 80s, but I didn't think that way back then. I was asking questions like "What was the aliens' agenda" and "How will they be stopped?" and "Will the girl make it with one of them?" Stuff like that.

  • The costumes and make-up are great.

  • maniquies electro-modulares

  • wtf is this?

  • @zagnonian nice

  • probably the best way to acquire a bump of coke I've ever seen. this technique (from 1:45 on) works in the real world too... just sayin.

  • 00:42 - She's really cute! Everybody looks really bored!

  • creepy much?

  • episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark

I could really do without the MIDI horns

  • what the fuck is this shit

  • Blogged - thanks for posting

  • magret is the best

  • shit i must watch this to nite i have this in vhs ...all time favorit movie

  • best movie ever..... mugwump-alarm

  • Incredible movie

  • I' love the weird fashion specially 80's style

  • I now see where lady Gaga got look from!!

  • @TheNaomiengland -- srsly! There she is @ ~ 00:35 !

  • @TheNaomiengland of course lady gaga has no idea she is just copying things in a lower way.... but people are such monkey that they have not enough intelligence to make difference between this genial movie and her holy crap.

  • Margaret's a wasp cunt from Connecticut, aren'tcha Margaret?

  • NASA just discovered a new planet.

It's called The 80's, and they've never seen anything like it.

And I have signed up to be the first to go!

  • @SpringSessionZen, already been there and not sorry to leave (but it was a trip, I must admit).

  • @SpringSessionZen A-MEN! Whatever HAPPENED to the 80's?...we were on the verge of breaking the mold and entering into a new social level and status...then we got drug back down into suits and ties. Gah, stop being so neanderthalic and break out of that outdated MODE - EXPRESS YOURSELF! *ahem* Sorry, just an aging 80's reject talking, I suppose...

  • @SpringSessionZen - I grew up there.

  • thanks for posting this movie. It was ahead of its time. There was gay, str8, drugs, aliens who were heroin addicts then turned into orgasm addicts. No one from this era can compare to this uncult classic.

  • One of the oddest yet most watchable films I have ever seen. Had the video many years ago need this on DVD. Soundtrack is top draw as are the performances by Shephard and Carlisle

  • at 0:36 deffently Lady Gaga

  • Nah, that Dee Snider of Twisted Sister!

And Joanna Lumley (Patsy Stone of Ab Fab) at 0:43

  • Blackadder, Blackadder,

    found on frame 28,

    Blackadder, Blackadder,

You make New Wave look great! ; )

  • Watching this it's easy to understand why there was such a vicious backlash against 80es fashion in the 90es.. What strikes you the most is how unconditionally serious and humourless it all was...

  • The 80s in a nutshell.

  • Mariah Carey at 1:15? Right?

  • @1bklynsaint r u fockin nuts?

  • lady gaga at 0:35?

  • The Electroclash scene of recent years is greatly influenced by the aesthetic of this film.

  • amazing!

  • Produced by IKON

  • all I have to say is this is the weirdest fucking thing in the world when you're on acid

  • i found this on accident. can someone explain it to me? music is awesome though.

  • Early 80s independent film. It takes place in the New York Art/Fashion scene, and the main characters are also heroin addicts. The woman at 0:22 and the man at 0:25 are played by the same woman. The woman at 1:14 is an ill-tempered performance artist who wants to move to Berlin. There are also some space aliens in there who want to suck from people's pleasure centers, which are activated while shooting up or having sex. Not sure what is going on with the Marching Band from Hell music.

  • What's going on is the guys who decided on the music were shooting up while having sex with themselves and sucking from each other's pleasure centres... which is pretty much what was going on in the NY art/fashion scene of the early 80s in general...

  • Fucking hell.

  • Redub this movie with ultravox? Total blasphemy

  • Lady GaGa? HAHAH

  • @CameronDaGangsta ... wathever with lady Caca... she wasn't even born when they shot this movie ! there's nothing original about her !

  • @CameronDaGangsta

    HAHAHAHAHHAHA

  • @CameronDaGangsta She wishes

  • @CameronDaGangsta

    Are you stupid?

    This is before GAGA

    A long long time ago!

ASSHOLE ! do you know something about blitz kids?

    So, i think no!

  • @andppd I was just saying she looks like her. Try and take a joke dumbass.

  • @andppd i think the person was joking and making an obvious reference to the fact that lady gaga has ZERO originality

  • LOL!

  • 2:34 - This chick is cute as hell!!!!

  • 0:47...benjamin lui..!!!

  • Someone should redub this movie with music by visage, ultravox and other new romantics instead of the weird circus beats on glue music they've got.

  • See, for me the music works and have no problem with it. But that's my taste. I love the soundtrack.

  • thing is, ultravox and others are too commercialized, the film represents another time, new wave was underground then.. visage and ultravox are good - no question - but too mainstream.

  • in the states both bands were pretty obscure even when this movie came out. I didn't discover Visage until a year or two ago but I noticed that Steve Strange had very similar style to what was going on this movie. What about Kas Product? I could see them being on the sound track too but I hear what you're saying. The music does match the low budget I don't give an F attitude of the movie.

  • this video and music make me need to poop

  • They played the 'brown noise'. Hahaha!

  • pożegnanie jesieni, anyone? hmm

  • one of the strangest films i ever saw - i like to think that somewhere in the 80s, there would be people who would see this and think it to be perfectly normal.

  • i love this movie. those lines they do are epic.

  • "I kill with my cunt!"

  • Is the rest of the film this good?

  • Wow! That's so AMAZING! I really love 80's, especially new wave's and new romantic's era!

This movie still one of the best movies showing life in those times (not documentially)!

Those times were really so independent, audacious and outstanding!

    Love It!

  • LOL at 1:20 - the blonde girl dancing ...

  • This movie looks dimented! I must see it!!

  • Fucking Flawless!!!!

  • so love this moive... and i can keep repeating this video thousand times..!!!

  • This looks amazing!

  • super les looks love it

  • A bit different from these days when everyone needs a either a cue or prompting to be reckless, odd, strange, etc.

  • this movie had some hot girls. Anne was a hot piece of ass.

  • Not a "hot piece of ass," a human being.

  • you know what I mean, quit being a fag

  • I know exactly what you mean, and the fact that you insult me by calling me what I am - queer - just shows how off-base you are. Stop looking at women as meat.

  • Heh. I've lost my virginity in more ways than just the one you're thinking of, and I've done it with people who actually respect me.

Look, there's nothing wrong with liking someone's body, but calling them a "hot piece of ass" denies everything else about them - their personality, their intelligence, etc. - and sort of sneakingly insinuates that the body's all that matters. It wouldn't be a big deal if it wasn't part of a much larger pattern of mistreatment of women and immaturity around sex.

  • this is a cult movie. says so on the box!

  • LOL 0:30 SEC

  • lady?

  • Hell no!

  • Comment removed

  • acid or pills?

  • cocaine and heroine

  • These Characters are so off, there dancing, It's excellent, I love how all the music is probably play off an electric keyboard.

  • I like dis' movie.

  • I trully love this movie ...one of my very favorites thanx for posting

  • Nightmarish... yet thoroughly enjoyable.

  • i cant remember where but i did.

  • you can download the soundtrack online.

  • WHAT? WHERE?!?!! I NEED IT!

  • modernist movements in popular culture during the 80s were a hell of a lot more *modern* than 99% of the ersatz retroist schlock peddled today.

  • I love this movie. Everytime I see it I feel like I'm on drugs.

This movie saved me lots and lots of money !

  • @djlgr1 hahaha amen

  • it's so fucking beautiful. this is a brilliant film. anyone who hates this movie just doesn't really get it.

  • brillant! one of the best scenes is when the neighbor invites the ufo chaser over and in an effort to seduce him, calls for chinese takeout and orders shrimp fried rice, sauteed shrimp, shrimp with broccoli, skewered shrimp, and noodles with shrimp sauce.

  • man i wish this sound track was easier to find.

  • one of my all time fav movies

  • that's why i love the 80's. so cool and modern

  • I am always amazed at peoples inability to "get" this film. It's stupidity is totally intentional, a hilarious send up of pretentious underground club culture and excess (read drug abuse). The aliens are the most obvious metaphor for H.I.V. ( you die from sex...get it?)and some of the lines are beyond hilarious..."I am androgynous not less than David Bowie himself." Really a great film if you understand the context. It is in so many ways a comedy,..an all time classic.

  • people are dumb nowadays, don't expect them to get metaphors correct.

  • This is one of my favorite movies of all time and i cant aree with you more. The line about Bowie is classic as well as "i baptise you in the name of the farther etc..." that scene kills me. and dont get me started on the ckicken woman CLUCK CLUCK. lol.

  • OH HOW BORING.

  • yeah, this is in my top 3 favorite movies of all time. people forget that films maybe dont need to have obvious morals or happy endings. film is art. not only are the fashion and music outstanding in this film, but anne carlisles monologues about "underground culture" are phenomenal. as someone who spends most of their time dressing very outlandishly, i found everything she says throughout the film really inspiring. she says everything that i never have the nerve to.

  • nice comment. agreed about the brilliance of this film. i've seen it about 5 times but it actually never struck me to think of the aliens as a metaphor for HIV -- do you think this film could have been conceived, made, and released in the amount of time for this to have been the idea? AIDS outbreak started mid-1981, and this liquid sky was released mid-1983. i guess it's quite possible.

  • @14jwh This film was made before AIDS was even around

  • @metronomic1 you are quite simply wrong. the film was made in 1982 or 84 and plenty of us were well aware of AIDS at that time, especially within the kind of sub cultures depicted in the film.

  • The film was released in 82 and while the medical community was aware of A.I.D.S. the media blitz surrounding the virus hadn't even begun to materialize, certainly not enough to use as a metaphor in this film. The film was shot in 80-81. Not to mention the director and actors have never once mentioned in interviews and A.I.D.S. connection. It just isn't so. Nice theory though. Like so many things.
