  • you forgot Yim Yames. idiot.

  • The Roots sent me here

  • KID CUDI SAMPLED THIS :)))))))!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @MrCamAdams in what song?

  • words cannot express the love i have for this song

  • Monsters indeed.. so much talent! almost too good when you listen to it, you are not sure if you should like it but you can't help loving it!

  • Damn, this is beautiful music.

  • Damn, this song is beautiful, good lookin out "The Roots", cause they made me check these guys out!

  • @metacafetones And Yames/James!

  • is that oberst's voice? it's so hard to tell

  • the roots lead me to lots of music. havent been disappointed yet.

  • cool tune

  • The roots led me to this group....THAT'S how music works!

  • @static1in21 Same for me, Dear God 2.0 is a great song. And I love this one

  • @static1in21 lol...me too...im reading the liner notes now!!

This is why digital downloads will NEVER replace tangible discs...you cannot get the jackets!

  • These are the same idiots who say theyr tired of being compared to Blind Faith and that Eric Clapton has only done one good song in his career??? When you cant give props to giants such as Clapton its no wonder i only knew about em when i read thru a year and a half old Rolling Stone magazine

  • @vatobravo Why is giving props to older artists so vital in a modern artists career, and why does that need to be used as some sort of judging device for how good they are?

  • I think this is one of the most enchanting beautiful songs I've ever heard, weird that I stumble upon this song while reading a book called "God's Problem" with the subtitle "How the Bible fails to answer our Most Important Question-Why We Suffer" and shortly after watching the Bob Dylan movie where Jim James covers "goin to acapulco" if u dont think this song is amazing, you have no taste.

  • This song is amazing! yep, i gotta thank the roots for reminding me to check these guys out, heard this song somewhere but couldn't catch the name of it or the group

  • @aaronisblack1 Ah, it was the jimmy fallon show i believe

  • Who sings each verse?

  • @AnnaNeemus 1st Jim James, 2nd M. Ward, 3th Conor Oberst.

  • @JurgDu Thanks!

  • @JurgDu 3th, got it.

  • Yeah...this song is the shyt

  • IM OFFICALLY A FAN!

  • roots crew did this song pretty good

  • gospel hymnal drum rip....

  • gospel hymnal drum rip....

  • beautiful

  • I love MMJ and Jim James! But I could swear this song was channeling Sade. Anyways I haven't seen MoF live, but MMJ shows are F'in amazing!

  • @sflx9 what do you mean? Channeling Sade? ..

  • This track would fit great on some next MMJ album. you can smell jim James' s scent all over it.

  • samples Trevor Dandy's 1970 gospel song "Is There Any Love."

  • at first, Officer Jim Chee felt foolish sitting on the roof of the house of some total stranger. But that uneasiness had soon faded. Now this vantage point on the roof had come to seem one of Cowboy Dashee's rare good ideas. Chee could see almost everywhere from here. The drummers directly beneath the tips of his freshly shined boots, the column of masked dancers just entering the plaza to his left, the crowd of spectators jammed along the walls of the buildings,

  • heard this on the radio today , pretty awesome. kinda trippy sounding like an old 70's song but the drums are like a hip hop beat crazy stuff,.

  • I like how just about every song on this album is somewhat different from the others.

  • absolutely ADORE THIS SONG!

  • that backround drum is sampled from a rap song i believe.... i know ive heard it somewhere before... if anyone else notices that, big ups to ya...

  • it's also from an older song..the rap song sampled it too. I just can't remember what the original was called.

  • i appreciate each of the singers, but for me, there is no MoF without jim james.what is so great is the contrast of verses and songs. m.ward is really great as well. i love conor and all (and his songwriting is amazing) but he was the least influential for me when i saw live and in interviews and stuff. he said numerous times how humbled he was to be playing with these guys because JJ is the superior vocalist and m.ward the superior guitar player.

  • The greatness of man is the power within the soul-to outdo, overcome and rectify-whatever struggles and sorrow life brings-through helping others that need help-whether the impoverished in Africa or Haiti or whatever the problems are.

We have the power within us to make life a better place for not only ourselves, but others especially. THAT is what God gave us and for Him to solve all our problems for us would be taking away our personal freedom and opportunity.

  • Brilliant

  • chillllinnn

  • was even better on the jimmy fallon show .... great song

  • When they performed this on Fallon, it sounded SO different, but this is the 1st song I heard from M.o.F.. Can honestly say this is one of the few bands that go ABOVE the hype the received.

  • beautiful it' brings me a rush

  • this song just puts me into a relax mood. ( :

  • mmmm the harp

  • Just listen to the music. Relax...

  • @Famoussas1 You´re totally right...

  • perfect, conor:)

  • i just respect every artist in this group individually, so the fact that this is what they came up with i think, is awesome. great song, wish more of the album sounded like this. sounds almost like it could be used for a hip-hop song, has a nice groove to it.

  • My girlfriend bought tickets to go see these guys, and I must admit that at first I saw skeptical these guys had any ability to play, being that all I listen to is Pink Floyd, and nothing compares, but GAH DAMN! The concert here in Chicago 2 weeks ago was FUCKING AMAZING

  • Only Pink Floyd has any ability to play? I mean, Pink Floyd is great but this comment is nonsensical.

  • @ThaChavez are you kidding me? these are some the the best musicians alive and u were skeptical? anyways if u like them, u should dl every Bright Eyes song ever b/c they are incredible

  • @ThaChavez That's good to hear because I like Pink Floyd. Roots brought me here.

  • Compare & contrast please XTCs Dear God with this Dear God. Well, this is a kinder, gentler rebuke to the Maker.

  • I feel bad for people who don't at least appreciate this music. Maybe you don't have to like it, like it, but hey, this is some good music. Groovy, smooth, melodic, funky... rare mix. Love it! XD

  • That really is a stupid statement. If someone does not like it. There is no reason to appreciate it. I love Kafka, but i know plenty of people who hate his work. It's all about opinions and my opinion is that this song is okay. "Say Please" is better. But if you like it than good for you.

  • WOW, your an idiot. I didn't see this comment coming from another... fan? But uh, ok?... *leaves confused*

  • You amaze me sir/mam. Ha, youtubers.

  • .....-2

  • Get off your high horse bud. This isn't even the best music the band has produced seperatly.

I've actually been dissapointed with Monsters of Folk, I expected something incredible from a supergroup like this. I donno I find this is decent music, but not special.

Fans don't have to like everything unconditionally. We can have negative opinions on bands we like. GASP.

  • The only person in the band I really liked before was Jim James. Even then, the first couple of songs I heard I thought were just mediocre. However, there are some complete jewels on the album. Also, go see a live show. Wow...

I agree that you don't have to be a complete fanboy, but in this case you at least have to admit that the songs performed by MoF are full of talent and required skill musicians and lyricists to write them. That alone deserves credit even if you don't like it.

  • "your an idiot" . . . classic . . . u r dum

  • HA, at least you trolls are getting down ranked, for your stupidity. Stop with your quest to "be right all the time" and enjoy the music. Cheers.

  • Daniel, I so wanna share this song and album with you because I know you would love it as much as me but I can't. I miss the times we discovered new music on youtube together.

  • very nice, glad I can across this

  • Okay, yeah, I'm feelin' this

  • man this songs fuckin awesome. cept im not really diggin the whole "god" part so ill just replace "god" w/something else lol.

  • This is Amazing!!!!!

  • paige, this makes me think of you

  • I find it really hard to find great music coming out these days, then I found this, wonderful song!

  • You really find it hard to find great music these days? Man, you must live in a box... this is the best time for music like this!

  • If you like this, listen to the band Paper Route

  • @ronniegowens second that

  • I really like this - very chilled out - suits me right now. The rest of you need to just get over yourselves and chill the fuck out peeps. Why is everyone so pissed off with each other? And no I ain't smoking the funny stuff - if I was I wouldn't be able to write.

  • just chill and listen it to it

who cares how its labeled, the beat is sick and the song is good

  • INDIE folk people. These guys work can be categorized as indie rock/folk.

  • what is indie rock? you piece of shit

  • these guys never said that their music is folk music

  • Smooooooooooooth

  • well folk songs are usually public domain and have been covered and recreated a many a time for example "go tell aunt rhody" or "this land is your land' pretty obvious examples. usually it takes a fair amount of time and people to accept a song as a folk song, and personally, i don't think this'll be sung around too many campfires in america

  • Are you just picking on the name of the band? Just wondered why you posted this?

  • fuck you

  • I think the point that everybody misses is the fact that the name has nothing to do with the type of music they are actually playing. They desired that misconception, and everyone like you just got duped.

  • how pretentious !! just gud music shag ! get a grip X

  • @StCloudStateU

have you listened to any other songs off the album? they're exploring... they should be honored for this.

  • how is this folk music?!? not one folk song....

  • define folk for me will you?

  • I love you so much Jim James, Id have your babies, and Im a dude

  • random question alert: does anyone know the time signature of this song?

  • 4 4 lol

  • its easier if you cant to 8 though

  • its 4/4 dawg

  • actually, it's nate wolcott, mike and conor that comprises Bright eyes...

  • I don't think Nate works with them on every album, does he? I'm not being a smartass, by the way, I just didn't think he did, and now I'm curious, lol.

  • concert on halloween baby...listen to my beat though people...it's better than this

  • they remind me of a bit of radiohead

  • This is the coldest song ever! I had to by it off of limewire! Oooh Thee Irony!

  • Dear M.o.F. -- we suffer so that folks like you can write beautiful songs to warm us.. thanks for the sweet smooth jazz. on this one.. love it!

  • sick harmonies

  • ba la ba beeeeee la la ba

ba la ba beeeeee la la ba

ba la la ba baaaaaa ohhhhOOHHhhh

  • for one its not bright eyes his name is conor oberst and if u knew any better u would know he is one of the best song writers of our time. therefore he has ever FRIGGIN right to be in this band.

  • I have to agree. Conor Oberst is a wonderful musician and songwriter. He completely deserves to be involved in this project. I doubt the other musicians would collaborate with him if they didn't feel the same.

  • well i agree he is phenomenal and deserves to be in the band, but technically it is bright eyes because mike molgis is in the group too (the two only constant members of bright eyes)

  • this song is SICK. fantastic beat, vocals, and lyrics.

  • its good. but I think they are all better by themselves.

  • Jim Jame's voice is so. Heavenly. Wow.

  • If you want it to sound like Bright Eyes, go listen to Bright Eyes.

  • Fantastic tune when I am working Mo-Fri

  • Music doesn't get much better than this.

  • this is sick..

  • Amazing song! Simply beautiful! ^_^

  • Dope!!

  • I love the diversity of all their songs, it's pure musical magic

  • incredible!

  • band rules

  • this band rules. song reminds me of flaming lips, especially the way jim sings can't wait to see them live

  • amazing band amazing song amazing album!!

  • Absolutely love it, the lyrical prowess of Bright Eyes blended perfectly with the instrumental sounds of My Morning Jacket. The vocals are wonderful, the beat and bassline are fantastic and make the track funky and sleek, but also the use of the harp and of course the soul-searching lyrics keeps it a fundamentally beautiful song. I look forward to hearing more from MOF.

  • SICK!

  • conor's third; they all rock; this song is perfect.

  • who's the third to sing?

  • jesus, that drum pattern outrageous! seriously kewl stuff coming from this group! Is this an "Impressions" tune?

  • Up. Nevermind. Found the context of the npr comment. Sorry.

  • I tried to like it.

Sorry, just can't get into it.

  • Yeah, I agree ... its a good song, i'm not saying they aren't all incredible musicians... but I am saying that it doesent move me like some Bright Eyes/Connor Oberst songs...

  • shit.

    monster of folk is badass.

    end of story.

  • Watching them on Conan O'Brian right now. This is the shiznit!

  • good music the backround music sounds like a radiohead tune =D

    GREAT!

  • dude! i totally thought the same the first time i heard this...

  • yea cudi got them drums LOL

  • GOD I LOVE GREAT MUSIC!!!!!!

  • haha, is that good or bad!

  • this song is incredible. the combination of the different toned voices, harp, spanish guitar.

  • MELLOTRON :D

  • my god these guys rock ! or do they folk ? who knows, heard on Radio 2 tonight, had to rush home and listen again, CLASS !!

  • nah nah thant's undoubtedly jim james

  • I didn't really like this when I first heard it.

Now I can't stop listening to it.. hah <3

  • Yeah, M. Ward definitely sings in this song. The "dear god, I see you move a mountain" verse, that's him (:

  • wow great song!!!

  • this song live would be sick

  • this song is pretty damn awesome.

  • I sware, I got goosebumps when M. Ward started singing. He has such a great voice, it makes you want to listen. Conor Oberst has always been one of my very favorites. I was never really into My Morning Jacket, but from what I've heard, I like Jim James quite a bit. This song is amazing.

  • I don't think M. Ward sings in this song, it's mostly Jim James.

  • Another sign of the apocolypse. No one makes music this amazing.
