Hello, what wiring have you used, please? Have you made it serial from parallel? A link to a particular wiring scheme would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
now thats what im talking about! the rolling stones!...right? lol...well u did play one of their songs..and do u rec buying this if i want more of a kurt cobain sound on my sg?
@MEequalAWESOMENESS Sure, it was the Rolling Stones! It was also Led Zeppelin etc. Sure, you can purchase a Damage Control if you want Nirvana's sound. But I would argue that the pedal is a bit more retro in their sound, think of it... Peace and love
@Christophee123 ok so...if i already have a pedal/processor for the guitar...and im still not getting the cobain sound..should i purchase it? and do u rec. me getting this installed by a pro...or my dad? lol, im sorry i ask soo many questions...i just wanted 2 knw a couple of things b4 i ebay a push/pull pot =/...nyway THANK YOU. peace, <3, and hippies shall be born again!
@MEequalAWESOMENESS Absolutely no danger! Yes you can always try for sure! If you really want Cobain sound, I can prevail to make new push / pull pot, since he usually played on the fender (single coil). It is the best in your case and you will not be disappointed. Can your dad Electronics me? Otherwise, it costs maybe $ 100 to make. Good luck!
What do you mean by noise? I demonstrate how the sound is when you use push / pull microphones. Then it can be useful if you hear what happened? Do you even know what you talking about? Wake up man!
Dude..... I own a '61 reissue SG...... I play it thru a Mesa Boogie Rectifier amp. I have been giiging constantly since 1992. I watched your vid to see if there was anyone else out there getting a good tone from such a fine instrument. But after seeing wot u had 2 offer I was totally let down. Sorry but you are a 1/2 assed player with a shitty tone. I recomend (4 your own good) that you 1st, learn to play and 2nd, get a 1/2 decent tone before you put yourself on the net. Wake up, my arse.
You are really cool that is so nasty ... how old are you? Born 92? Glad I was writing with a perfect human being. Hope you succeed in life ... You earn nothing of being rude. But thanks for your great ideas on how I should play.
No worries bro' too easy, Answer to question, I am 45 born in'65. I never said I was perfect, I have succeeded in the way that, I know that I can direct my energy towards learning my craft in a way that I can entertain people by plugging in and playing LIVE with my band. Dude, if you want to see how to play an SG with conviction and not just fucking noise I will post something 4 you. AND i never offered ideas on how to play, but if u want them.......
Sure give me your ideas in a video. I'm absolutely ordinary on the guitar. I just want to show how it might sound. Too bad that you choose to be nasty, you win, nothing to be there. Furthermore, I believe it "not" is an "accurate" style of what is good, it lies with the viewer. It knows a good musician and good musicians do not need to show their muscles for it belongs to childhood ... Please feel free to write, but think about how you write. Would have been sad if I had to report to youtube
Sorry brother but "how it might sound" is why I watched your clip. I can't help it if you cannot handle constructive critisism. To me (and thats all I am saying) the tone sucks AND so does the playing. The truth may hurt huh. Report me all you want..... but I have done nothing wrong. All I have stated is the truth. So sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!
Criticism is great to get ... but you act like a teenager and you write nasty things. I'm trying to educate a man who is born in 1965 how to behave. Very funny. Imagine that you do not even have girl ... SHOW ME NOW HOW GOOD AND PERFECT YOU ARE
dude I enjoyed the demo. You CAN play. Ignore this ass hat hineyguitar (assholeguitar more like). He obviously has an inferiority complex. Love the guitar. I have an SG Special I'd love to do the same with. Peace....
That's a great tone! I'm thinking of doing something like this to my SG. I was wondering, what make of pickups are you using? Also, do you know how much it would cost to buy them and have them installed? I wouldn't trust myself to be able to do the wiring. Nice demo by the way :)
Hey buddy. The microphones are original and I think the microphone is called "zebra burstbucker". It is relatively inexpensive to make, maybe $ 100. But it is a good investment. But if you must do it yourself, you just replace "The Potts" to push or pull. Thanks very much and good luck
I think I'm sold on coil tapping my SG Special Faded with a set of Seymour Duncan Hot Rodded Humbuckers. My guitar tech said he had never run across a SG coil tapped before. Well, he's going to see one soon! What pickups are these?
Good luck! Yes it is original to the microphones on the guitar. I think the name "zebra-humbucker". They have a high out put. I would never replace the microphones.
Thank you very much. I really wanted to show the versatility of the guitar. When I tried to split the microphones for the first time I really thought that it sounded like a Stratocaster. fun fun fun. Sure the guitar is very nice in its simplicity. Thank you for the comment.
hi there! 1 question buddy, when you split the pickup, it sounds pretty much like a stratocaster? 'cause i want that in my SG, and in the video i cant listen if sounds like i want :P
Exactly! It's the whole idea of the split microphones, to get a feel versatile instruments. It sounds very like a Stratocaster, you are absolutely right. But it's awfully cool.
i own this guitar too.,, there is no sound like those velvet brick humbuckers, only made in the 79-81 era

I have heard that a gibson sg with stock gibson pickups cannot be coil tapped. Is this true?
Jcale101 1 year ago
@Jcale101 I think that's a fact you'll have to buy new pickups to do the coil splitting.
sxc5rhcp 1 year ago
@Jcale101 thats true and thats on the Gibson web site when you read the pages about pickups...

Very nice job on the video my friend. The guitar is beautiful and sounds great. As mentioned- very Strat like especially with the neck pup tapped.
