damn alexis looks great she's like in her 50-s and she doenst look plastic, there was no botox or facial fillers back then..how does she look so great? did she have a face lift? but she doenst look like someone who had aface lift like joan rivers for example
@Steviebabe555, You asked,"What does being gay have to do with a soap opera?"
- I think for "Dynasty" there are two reasons. First, "Dynasty" had the first gay character in a dramatic role (Billy Crystal in "Soap" was the first in a comedy).
Second, lots of gay men are into clothes and fashion, and "Dynasty" excelled in that.
I always liked "Dynasty" over "Dallas" because it was just pure fun. But, you're right. If it weren't for "Dallas", there would be no "Dynasty".
What is with that hideous oversized silkworm cocoon on Alexis' head?, LOL...Krystle should've thrown Alexis down those stairs, it would've been far more dramatic.
fuck the ratings, dynasty was campy and fun all over the 9 years run. Dallas was more succesful in the ratings in the long run but STILL dynasty is the best remembered show of the 80's , the shoulder pads nightmare will ever go away.
I always thought Alexis looked like an airline stewardess in this scene....I also love how she jerks her jacket back into place after being dragged to the stairs landing before delivering her piercing line, "..YOUR HOUSE? This was MY HOUSE - while you were living in a SHACK somewhere ..." !!!!! LOVE IT!
@LBraunhaus those huge shoulder pads were used for damage controls. they could roll down the stairs with dem high heels and the make up would be intact.even I noticed how weird it was and I was about 6 at the time lol!
Is it just me, or did Blake seem to get off on Kryslte and Alexis' fights? It's like he enjoyed it when the 2 of them were throwing down, whether trading verbal insults or bitch-slaps...especially when it was over him!
sorry, but krystal was a low class common street fighting secretary. alexis was a lady (in the parlor & a ho in the bedroom. as it should be) who always ended up getting dragged into catfights with that blonde skank.
@flenif2247 nothing "old world" about it ... it's American to the core... why do people always say "Old World-this" and "Euro-that" when they don't know what they're talking about?
Alexis' most elegant yet powerful dress, her walking, the way she looks down in disgust at Krystle - ".. while you were living in a shack somewhere" -, how she then calls her "my dear", leaves and after a dramatic pause says "- but I shall return." Not to speak of her most blasé way of saying "thank you".
LOL John Forsythe really took the part to heart and I think he really believed he was Blake Carrington LMAO. I liked Linda Evans, but the shoulder pads and the hairstyle really had to go. Alexis looked like she applied her makeup with a pallet knife ha ha. All in all, it was 80's glam excess and I'd like to see more reruns and enjoy that decadent decade...
@GeminiNightOwl XD Haha, yeah... although I do agree that she should've worn her hair back more often, and wore the shoulderless outfits more often too.
Krystle should have hit that bitch in the head with those flowers. and when that servant picked them up off the floor I would have yelled "put those flowers back on the floor you Mother fucker!" lol
I will admit that Dallas was a better written sopa opera, Dynasty was much better overall. What it lacked in plot development , it more than made up for with its glamour, flash, elegance and charisma.
The characters were much more interesting. Outside of JR Ewing, none the Dallas characters were all that interesting or memorable.
. The moldavian massacre, while a brilliant clifffhnanger, should have been concluded at that point.
As a gay guy this was the ultimate primetime soap opera. All the rest were left in the dust while "Dynasty" was a class act both in story and its camp value. After 1985, though, the serial went downhill due to bad writing and the show was never the same.
@GayUOPXBoy10 I was also, and still am, a huge "Dallas" fan, but the bitchiness and Joan Collin's campy performance is what makes "Dynasty" my favorite of all primetime serials! Thanks for your comment!
@GayUOPXBoy10 I actually have an autographed photo of Joan's that graces my wall...I have been lucky in obtaining many autogrpahs over the years but the one from Joan Collins is my favorite! She is indeed a gay icon!
@GayUOPXBoy10 Me too. I just can't get enough DALLAS (save the last 2 or 3 seasons). Although Dynasty was a guy mans wet dream, DALLAS was it for me and always will be. Believe it or not DALLAS was the show that got me through a very rough time as a young man - escapism - but strangley addictive and believable as well (well to me any way). I hope the New DALLAS live up to the old.
Blake came running out to see if there was going to be a catfight..guess he was feeling much better lol And I love how a butler just popped up out of nowhere to pick up the bouqet Krystle threw. The Carringtons, they have the best staff ;)
For some reason I always found Alexis wigs so unbelievably cheap looking--and she was one of the richest women in the world, yet wore wigs that must have been about $25. But it was all great fun.
"Most of the people you love happen to be my children....Take your hands off my Kyrstal...This happened to be my house while you were living in a shack somehwere"
I find it interesting that Blake never dyes his hair. All these 60-year-old Hollywood sex symbols like Robert Redford, Al Pacino, and Robert DeNiro seem ashamed of their gray hair, but when they color it, you can tell it's dyed.
And then there's the facelifts. You can tell when a guy has no wrinkles on his face and the hands of an old man.
i get tired of blake letting alexis flow in and out of the house like that reading people at will...course i guess there would be no show without that lol
You'd be surprised, I've seen this happen in real life. A rich old geezer moves his new (and younger) wife into the house, and his ex wife won't stay away. Some of his grown kids are stil living with him, and they can't move on.
Is that a giant marshmallow cookie sitting on top of her head? Yum, I want some! It'd be hilarious if Krystle took a bite as Alexis decended the stairs.
You might be able to thow me out now Krystle, but just you wait...I am going to see to it that you hitchhike yourself back to Ohio...just you wait....
Oh..once again Medavog..you couldn't be more wrong...I was Blake's first and ONLY true love...Do you really think he is in love with that redneck from Ohio? I think not!
Collins is a great actress. She creates the ultimate evil bitch, right out of Agatha Christie. She's the kind of bitch who'd poison her children to get them out of a will.
Alexis should have reminded Blake of how he "SOLD" Fallon to the Colby's back in the first season. He's such a hypocrite... Then again, they both are.
It would have added to the scene had Amanda been the one walking up the stairs with the flowers when Krystle grabbed them. Logical considering she walked away with them in the begining.
Amanda understood that Alexis was getting rid of her by handing the flowers to her. They live in a mansion with "servants"(as Alexis liked to call them), why wouldn't Amanda have the maid find a vase instead, as she did.
Its weird seeing dynasty. I haven't seen it since the 80's. When I look back on it, I see the terrible overacting, the fairytale storylines and I used to lap it all up and come back for more everyweek. Truth is, I'd do the same today. Why? Because shows like Dynasty provides escape, you forget about what is going on around you- unless you have a searing toothache, and you can just emerse yourself into it.
Boy Linda Evans never did learn how to act angry...she's laughable. Joan Collins' line delivery is delicious, especially as she descends the stairs "But I shall return!" AbFab!
Linda didnt need to learn to act angry and isnt laughable she has a classic line of all time when she beats alexis in the studio catfight "if u want a rematch, just whistle, if u can"
Thanks for uploading this! Interesting that Krystle felt confident enough tossing Alexis out, when as you can see in the other part of this clip, her marriage to Blake at that time was temporarily on the rocks. During the season 6 cliffhanger Alexis assumes ownership of the mansion and promptly tosses the Carringtons out (possible payback for this scene), provoking Blake to attack Alexis.
I only watched this because of the Nanny's parody of Dynasty lol
