If you are going to say that the European Union is a good example of why Socialism is a failure then you must also say that the USA and Canada are examples of why Capitalism is a failure. The truth is that we are all in a very terrible economic state right now and for pretty much the same reasons. Reasons are incompetence, corruption, and/or stupidity.
1) The vast majority of people in Canada/USA are not self employed. We work for corporations, chain businesses, et cetera.
2) Many jobs are taken away from people simply because it is cheaper to employ somebody who doesn't even live in the same country.
3) Expensive educations are required for the simplest of professions. In Canada, for example, it costs $400 and a week long course to become a security guard for 1 year.
All of my guys are white, educated, clean cut people and I never have any issues.
I do not support illegals, I do not appreciat Church and Missionaires sponsoring people from differnt countries useing my tax money for travel,room and board,clotheing,stipens and education. They make millions off these people through stimulus and fed grants.
3)This is why you need a trade first, work a apprenticship and a job while going to school. Not my fault again.
