kinda late but heres how it goes PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!
i turned it on and it had no visual or audio but when i set the volume on the tv to loud i could hear a staitc sound meaning that it was connected so i ordered another av cord but this time it had the same issue. changing the av cords did not fix the problem, i looked online only to find out that their must be somthing inside the dreamcast that i can fix.
Is it possible to upgrade the DC laser assembly to a front feeding disc drive, for a Dreamcast-mod DIY project? Or is the DC limited to only this disc drive because of it being GD-rom? Any help and info is appreciated...
I didn't even have to turn the mechanism, all I did was take it apart, take the top of the disk reader off, and then it magically started working again. Why is the dreamcaast such a broken system?
Last night, I was playing Sonic Adventure, and at about 1 AM, I decided to turn it off, and go to sleep. The next day, I decided that I wanted to play again, and it didn't work, so I tried to see what I could do with it. I tried this method, moving the screw both ways. It still didn't work. I turning about a tenth of a turn both ways, and eventually screwed it in as far as I could get it without breaking my hand, both ways. It still never worked. Any ideas?
I did the laser calibration but unfortunately the laser ribbon cable broke off and i am unable to reconnect it. What do i do. Greetings from Australia.
explain to me how, when I did exactly what you explained in the instructional video, my dreamcast won't even read games anymore (the lazer doesn't even move).
i bought a brand new controller and memory card a couple weeks ago. now the games load but when i try to press the buttons on the controller. nothing happens. what can be wrong with it? is it the laser? do i need a new one or would i be better buying another console?
i tried this, i heard the same trick from somewhere else and i didnt have a screwdriver that fit in that tiny screw, so i used a small pliers but i broke off that whole piece where the screw i needed to turn is, its not completely off but it moves, i fiddled with it and almost got it to work but then it didnt and I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO, any advice?
@stpierreorama Haha, I broke mine too! It should still work, just twist the piece that is still hanging on. Or, the piece that still moves. I actually eventually had to replace my entire laser assembly, unfortunately.
@EliteEditor i played around with it so much and still nothing, i wanted to play around with it more so i took out that orange ribbon so i can have more room and its so hard getting the orange strip back into place, i pushed it in as hard as possible and i still dont think its all the way in there. the part that broke off isnt just the screw part though, i also broke off the green material behind it that connects things together, i think at this point i need a new laser assembly too,
@stpierreorama Sorry to hear that. You can probably find a cheap one on eBay. I don't have any other ideas. It might just be damaged enough to be irreparable.
@EliteEditor its cool now cause i found another dreamcast for sale and now i use that as a spare parts one, i put the laser from the new one into my old one, cause my old one ran better and it works perfect, but the two dreamcasts are kinda differenct on the inside, i thought they were all the same. one is from japan and the other from china, some parts are completely different. and playing games again reminded me how much kickass time i had on the dreamcast back in the day.
