That is because the Earth is much larger than the Moon, so it's shadow also is a lot larger. In this animation the shadow from the Moon on the Earth is shown far too big: it's actually a tiny shadow (because the Sun's rays are not really parallel). The Earth has more than 3.5 times the diameter of the Moon, so it's shadow is much bigger.

This means that for a solar eclipse the Moon has to be on a node very precisely, while for a lunar eclipse being near a node is enough.

1) There should probably be a facility on youtube for moderators to delete meaningless or otherwise "junk" comments (clearly a form of comment influence which should probably not be misused).

@Bird3977 number 2 is correct. Between the sun and Earth and after the Earth.

And if there is one with scale, you wouldn't be able to locate the moon and earth would look like a dot. OR you can see the earth and moon but not the sun.
