  • This is a Red-legged Partridge not a Chukar. The Chukar is a native of southern Eurasia, in Israel, Turkey, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan along the inner ranges of the Western Himalayas to Nepal. Further west in south-eastern Europe it is replaced by the Red-legged Partridge, Alectoris rufa. The Chukar was introduced into the United States from Pakistan to be a game bird. It lives in arid, rocky terrain across the western United States and southern Canada

    Went to the RSPB Reserve in Dungeness a couple of weeks ago and saw a pair of them. First time I had ever seen them. Still haven't seen a Grey Partridge (yet!)

  • in cy the partridges we shoot are big hairy and carry a red flag with a semi moon.
