  • P.S. Everybody look for youtube user... "CompleteSurvivalist", that is Ed's youtube username & youtube Channel Name.

  • I just listen to the ED CORCORIN interview on the Prepper podcast january 12th 2012 best of Prepper podcast. Because of the interview, and the youtube video review of the first issue of the magazine, I am going to subscribe to the magazine now, january 2012.

  • Man, I hat it that You Tube doesn't put comments in chronological order...

  • BTW, the article about "True Currency" was also written by me and I took a lot of flak for that one. To answer the question; the only REAL currency after an economic or societal collapse is not gold or silver. True currency in that situation is anything that's useful or in dire need, such as materials, ammunition, medicine, alcohol, fuel, water, and yes, food (among a lot of other things). When TSHTF and nothing's working anymore, precious metals will take a back seat to NECESSITIES.

  • Thanks for the review of our first issue, man. I ust became aware of your video today. (this is Ed Corcoran, BTW - Editor and co-creator of the mag) Just to let you know, after the 1st issue we expanded the mag to 48 pages in order to include a lot more info. Issue 1 was kind of an introduction to what we had in mind. If you would be interested in reviewing further issues (whether they be good or bad) I'd appreciate it. Feedback always keeps me on my toes and lets me know what the people want.

  • Looks good I just subscribed to it. Thanks for the review

  • What was the only true currency? Was it Food?

  • @SustenanceNCovering Yes, it was food, sorry I missed your question yesterday.

  • @americangamefowl That's the answer I was looking for. I may have to look into this magazine.

  • Hello, I am new to YouTube. What is a prepper?

  • @gettinready101 It is something you put on your food with salt

  • @gettinready101 A prepper is someone who is so paranoid that they think the Politicians who run the world don't love us enough to continue to supply us with everything that we want. They also think that our government leaders aren't wise enough to plan for every contingency and ensure that back up plans are in place to deal with any situation that comes up. Silly isn't it?

  • @SustenanceNCovering LOL I was just trying to stir up some comments on here. I like your answer, as dsarti1 says "save your own ass dumb ass" meaning Don't rely on others or the government to do it. I got a question for you. How can I get my chickens to lay in the winter?

  • @gettinready101 I'm not susenancencovering but I'm going to answer you anyway LOL. Chickens need 14 - 16 hours of daylight to lay. The longer days in spring triggers the laying instinct, telling them it's time to make babies. It doesn't have to be sunlight, any light will do, so you can put a light bulb on them. I've been thinking about making some chicken videos, but can't decide what subjects to cover. Help me come up with some subjects.

  • @americangamefowl Does the cold stop them from laying? I don't know any chicken subjects that susenancencovering hasn't allready covered. Maybe a video on brooding chicks?

  • @gettinready101 In my experience they will lay slightly fewer eggs when it's cold, but still lay, instead of getting an egg every day you might get 4 or 5 per week, just because some of the calories in their feed are going toward keeping warm, taking some calories away from egg production. You can offset that by increasing calories a little molasses in the feed is good for that. Daylight hours and nutrition are the biggest factors in egg production.

  • @americangamefowl Good Answer. Since I am all about sustainable survival, and always set myself up to live just as I plan on living after the fall of the system. I just live on less eggs in the winter. However years ago when I was trying to get more eggs in the winter I found out that commercial egg producers do keep their hens under artificial lighting, in heated buildings.

  • @SustenanceNCovering In SHTF when the electricity stops flowing, living on less eggs will be just about the only option, unless someone had a solar or wind power setup. I still don't think it would be a good idea then because it will put a spotlight on your chickens making it easier for chicken thieves, which will be plentiful after SHTF.

  • @americangamefowl In SHTF me and my 9mm may have to move into the chicken house for chicken thief control. That may keep them a little warmer.

  • Survivalist magazine? So this is the first issue right?

  • @SturmKorps yes
