I had a neighbor who bred guinea fowl. They were really funny, but god are they thick! When I'd walk my dog by that place they'd all stick their heads out of the fence to get a better look at the large hungry predator who would have eaten them if I wasn't there!
you can tell by the sounds they make. females make a two-syllable sound("buck-wheat,buck-wheat". ) where as a male makes a one-syllable sound("CHI-CHi-Chi-chi...". ) females can also immitate the one-syllable sound as well. also, males generally have larger wattles than the female, and a somewhat larger helmet. :)
i believe these are the pauline variety of fowler. My mate has two... i love to see them roosting in his trees. They get on very well with ducks as well as pea cock.
Theyre a beautifully coloured bird, but god they make the MOST annoying sound on the planet lol
