They were Madchester then Britpop then they had a more experimental stage with "Us and Us Only" and since they have been bringing out just solid good rock music - LONG LIVE THE CHARLATANS!!!!
Someone posted that the bass on this track sounds like Peter Hook,,that's because this song is basically Sunrise by New Order (Lowlife track 4) with new lyrics
quite ironic that a Charlatan steals a tune off a record called Low Life
yeah Charlatans are awesome loved them since 1996, they promised to tour Oz ever since, finally they came Nov 2008 and was fantastic!! tho the organ had sound issues half the night but fantastic all the same!!
Get Loaded in the Dark hits the Coronet on Easter Thursday April 1st 2010 and is set to be another sell-out event!!

Just seen the Charlies this weekend and hadn't really sussed how good they really are...only taken me 15 years to catch on ha!! Don't know his name but the drummer is absolutely the dogs bollox...compare that with Nowaysis they haven't even got a fkin drummer!!!!
I saw them in Belfast yesterday. That was one of the best gigs at the Spring and Airbrake and a lot of cool bands played there. Lovely crowd and support band too.
Thank you, The Charlatans for giving this awesome song as a present online.
To everyone who is going to see them on tour, you will have a good time. xxx
Am going to see tehm on saturday at the london astoria. Really cannot wait. They are all such amazing musicians. To anyone who has commented on this saying they are shit... why are you watching this video then? I dont care that you have an opinion on them its called a difference in music taste but why waste your time watching 'shit' music videos!!
Are these from Northwhich or Middlewhich, i know theere local to me.. My dad knows a dude who let them use a studio in Middlewhich. Orsomething like that. Someone comment me back, Thanks
you cant compare metal with rock and roll son. In my opinion the Charlatans are the only band from the last towo decades that can compete with the classic rock and roll, i.e. Beatles, stones etc... and I'm from the U.S.!
Although Iron maiden and judas priest do kick ass.
1) the charlatans are one of the most successful groups of the Uk from 1990 to 2008 so by calling them shit, you're calling the English "shite" as well.
2) if you are going to make an insult do it with proper English. what you mean is "they're shit" not "there shite"
3) europe and america are at war with Iraq so if pease refrain from using the name of the Shiite group so they'll stop fucking us up.
The guys have never been away, check out the last couple of albums, Simpatico and Up at the lake for some great tracks. gigging at the moment, try and catch them live if any tickets left. awesome in newcastle last week.
The charlatans are a British institution of quality music that represents years of quality individual music that still sound fresh today with talented music and lyrics
Meant to be played loud. Yes, this album is saturated in New Orderness..but it is still The Charlatans...and they sure sound like they are having fun with it. They were never one to be afraid to wear their influences on their sleeve so proudly.
New Order Rip-Off? Huh? the instrument part would fit in any old stereolab tune... hehehe... The Charlatans is truly a great band... i've been a fan since "indian rope" and they haven't disappointed me yet, very adventurous specially the last 3 albums... sadly under appreciated...
maybe a stupid question 'cause i love everything they do. but that album really helped me BELIEVE after everything that happened when Rob had to go to prison
This song is ace. I've the boys at T in the Park, just after the release of Telling Stories. "does anyone, want a piece of the pie?" hahaha - your some boy Tim!
fuck me Tintheparks 97 i remember that mate its a highlight! "piece of the pie" tim wa off his rockinchair!! happydayzz! cant wait for newstuff. LIVE IT LIKE YOU LOVE IT!
The Charlies are back to their best if you ask me. Oh Vanity, Blank Heart Blank Mind and now this.... A band that just keeps on growing. Welcome back boys.
Another great Charlies track IMO, pity most UK radio stations seem to be blatently refusing to add it to their play lists, shame on you all - ignorance is not bliss sort it out !
Not bad .Love them but get Steve Lillywhite in there and sort them out .Been following them for years and always feel they are just step away from mega stardom .
I love this fabulous new single. Better than anything they had in the last 5 years or so. The video is good too. Looks like they are ready to rockn roll in the states!
