  • Thank you for posting. The kanga is a rectangle, and it is amazing that so much can be done with it.

Maybe the water carrying thing should be promoted here in America. It would improve our posture.

  • @SailorBarsoom Yes. I definitely agree. Us Americans need to learn this water carrying thing. Please teach us. How does one practice such a feat?

  • You have made me proud girls, hongereni sana!

I am from Tanzania and i just love the khanga. They are so so convenient, and you can never have one too many. I wear them around the house, the market, farm, you name it. I even make dresses out of them which i will be selling on line in the near future.

    God bless!

  • you girls are great and is wonderful that you showed us some of your traditions. god bless you girls and thank you for your work

  • This is wonderful. Thanks for posting, but the floor would have been soaking wet. LOL

  • wonderful - the kanga is the most useful thing you can have - i will never travel without one -- and tying your baby on your back is essential! My babies loved it and the knowledge of this is the greatest gift i had from my stay in Kenya.

  • Thank you very much. I spent 3 weeks this summer volunteering at a school in Arusha. I bought some kangas but only knew how to wear them as a skirt.
