Madison's federalist papers for one promoted strong central govt. jefferson and other anti-federalists promoted limited federal authority, sovereign states' and individual rights (thus- bill of rights) over central government.
these two were both 'founding fathers', diametrically opposed. 'smaller govt is better- fact' is not fact, but political ideology.

The USA has so much corruption and the reason is because government is controlling more than it needs to. So, special interests try to influence public policy in those areas that the government shouldn't be controlling. The reason banks failed in the US was in part by the The Glass Steagall Act forced commercial banks and investment banking to separate. The problem with this is that Commercial Banks make a lot of risky loans an use investment banking to off set the risks. Prior riskier loans started during the Clinton administration, by in acting the Community Reinvestment Act.

Obama didn't win the election because he said he would get the Army out of Iraq, his focus is to push the military to Afghanistan. Anyways, he won because he is black, people wanted to see history instead of electing someone who is qualified and can run this country. Well we have seen history now, I hope everyone is happy. Obama won't change anything, he has no backbone. He bowed to the Saudi Prince. The US is going to be different in 3 years, and not in a good way.
