  • Is this game based upon the book?

  • @TheAngeloLorenzo it takes place before the books

  • some inconsistencies with the books however we must remember that in '99 many of the books with the information we take for granted had not been written, for example we now know the creation of trollocs were from the forsaken merging the taint from the dark one with human and animal stock, not a creation of shai'tan himself.

  • @Narania234 you left wing fascist cocksucker go chomp on a dick in hell. because we all know that's were liberals go fag.

  • @Klayisgay LOL I'm a centralist, but it's funny to see the right wing call the left wing fascist... HAHA Left wing is only fascist when they are extreme left commies+racial/national ideology .. or in other words. National Socialist or like they say in Germany NAZI (which is considered the extreme RIGHT)

Anyway, I don't care. I just found out about these series and I would like to read the books.

Arghhh, you imperial milk drinkers ...

  • exists a site where I can download the game? I started reading the books recently, and in Italy the game doesn't exist ...

  • If I'm hyperventilating this badly over a 12-year-old, highly inaccurate pc game, I can't imagine what will happen if they make the books into movies.

  • @tobaya12 if they make the books into movies youll cry yourself to sleep at night for the next 20 years, each book would require 3-4 movies without them butchering the plot, they wont do that so you would get a far worse movie series the lotr turned out to be in comparison to the books.

  • Lol, i remember this. The intro is kind of an insult to the readers. Aside from the other points i've seen in the comments, Lews Therin was holding Callondor which wasn't even made until after his death.

  • I'm playing this game no matter what. I adore the books.

  • @mikeyatky It is probably true that you need both halves of the True source to seal the bore permanently (seeing as both were used to drill the bore). Apparently they all went mad right away which is why I am asking what happened to the seals (they were indestructable so they could have just been tossed about)

  • @mikeyatky ..."The Dark One's counterstroke, however, killed all but 68 of the Companions and rendered the survivors instantly mad". quoting wot wiki.... This is also what I remembed whilst reading that all of them either died or went mad instantly which bring back the original question ;) ... You do not know if the women participation would have ensured a perfect sealing of the bore... (read the books recently?) (punctuation is also rather appreciated)

  • @mikeyatky You'll need Quicktime to play the videos.

  • Hey!

Here is a question I cant figure out... Lews therin and his merry men used the seals as focal points to keep the bore closed. How did the Aes sedai obtain them? Did they travel to Shayoul ghul and get them or were they given to the aes sedai by someone?

  • Dude, do you know where i can find this game for download?? i used to play it but i installed with a cd, and now i want to play again but i can't find it anywhere for download. Thanks!

  • The trollocs were not created by the dark one, they were at the dark ones command by the forsaken, Aganor.

  • If you're interested in reading all Robert Jordan's "Wheel Of Time" novels you can p.m. me to get the link.

It includes his novels of "Conan The Barbarian" and some extras of WOT.

  • Red Eagle Entertainment holds all the current rights for WoT outside of books and they have been partitioning out pieces to companies who will have limited rights while making the media.

Universal Studios has been pitched and liked the ideas (they have WoT fans) and the idea survived their "terrible movies in pre-production" purge. The idea is only to worry about Eye of the World now and see how it turns out.

Obsidian Entertainment has also been given the rights to make a WoT MMO

  • while others will be brought on to take up the video games that will parallel the movies.

Throughout the whole process though, REE will be overseeing the companies to ensure that the products made are accurate to the WoT universe and storyline.

  • There's no way hollywood could ever do the books any justice. there's just too many intricacies and subtle undertones in the series of novels. with that said, however, i would really like to see a series of movies made. not only would it be interesting to see with my eyes what i've put together in my mind, but (like eragon, harry potter, etc..) the books would drive more people to read the books themselves.

  • Did you know that EA and Visceral(I think its Visceral) bought the rights to Wheel of Time and are probably going to work together to make a Wheel of Time Game to contest with the Elder Scrolls Series.

  • @HatedSovietLion Red Eagle and Obsidian were making it I thought?

  • Gave it a first try today, and it looks really good. Got quite good ratings back in its day, too.

What suprised me the most is the quality of the textures and lighting, and at high resolutions, it still looks really good.

  • So... is this an actual game? what system is it for? =S

  • @natedurai It is. It was released for PC back in '99.

  • @kedian82 I gotta get it now! Why have I never heard of this before =S

  • For the glory of chaos!

  • What system was this for?

  • I'd hate to see this ruined in a movie format. If it is filmed... it should be a tv show. Something long running and epic. Only then would the intricacy of the story emerge.

  • @StonedogTBSV

A book lets you create images in your mind. There's no way any film adaptation can live up to every individuals perception of the writing. Nor are they supposed to. Cinema remakes are supposed to take the meat of the story and add or remove bits to make a story entertaining on-screen.

  • not very accurate, but entertaining.

  • Wheel of time, player killing mud. Kill trollocs, wield the one power, fight the Whitecloak or the Shadow. Assist friends, slay enemies. Level your character to 50, and let the wheel of time weave your destiny. TGHMUD.org

  • what? i thought the forsaken were men AND women. how could he say that the 13 most powerful Aes Sedai who are only women be the forsaken?

  • @ForzaAquila The Aes Sedai were once men too. The only reason there aren't men anymore is because of the taint. So yeah he wasn't inaccurate. There was no Tower but there were men who used the power and they were the Forsaken.

  • @ForzaAquila back then male and female that could channel were called aes sedai

  • @Nebunidos ok thnx i reached that part XD

  • @ForzaAquila and the seals are not made of stone much bullshit in this video

  • morgan freeman for narrator :)

  • here thar be nerds

  • @7amsox and damn happy about it.

  • Yeah there are a lot of differences from the game to the book, but what do you expect. The Books have been going on for years, and have like 500 pages to tell a story. The guys who make the game only have so much they can do and it has to be MUCH less detailed in order to fit content in the game. So they have to cut corners. Any medium aside from the book is going to be changed.

  • And it was not Shai'tan but his servant Aginor and other scientists in the Great Lords service who actually made the shadowspawn

  • Wish they would make a wheel of time movie. also hoping that Ishtaria: Prince of Blades is made into a movie!

  • @steale

I'd say they should instead try to get a miniseries.

  • @steale There's a chance they are making them into a movie. Universal bought the rights ages ago, and they're considering doing 3 movies. Compressing the entire series into 3 movies.

As much as part of me wants to see tWoT become amovie series, I'm smart enough to know it wouldn't do it justice. The politics that are on paper aren't going to be exciting to watch in the movies. A 14 movie long series wouldn't make them much money, I imagine.

  • @BoydTheMilkmanX

3 movies...how much of the story are they going to chop up??damn it..i was so looking forward to it too..

  • @r4vage I'dlook forward to it, too. But I know they could never do tWoT justice on the big screen.

  • @r4vage

I probably won't watch the movies however I am hoping for an anime series.

  • The narration of this is wrong, the White tower was not created until after the breaking. and the seals were not simple stone... they were heartstone!!!

  • @jenkinson123 no the white tower was created long before the breaking dunce

  • @laxplaayaa Tar Valon didnt exist until well after the formation of Dragonmount, which was most definitely after the Breaking.

  • @laxplaayaa Read the prologue again. Ishamael (Betrayer of Hope, Elan Morin Tedronai) stands on the Island that becomes Tar Valon as Lews Therin creates Dragonmount (after the breaking), and it is empty at the time. Therefore, there is no White Tower before the Breaking of the world.

And if you believe there were no men Aes Sedai, you need to read further into the books or get the companion "The world of the Wheel of Time" and learn.

  • @laxplaayaa no it wasnt. the island that tar valon was built on wasnt even there till lews therin broke the world....read the prolouge to the eye of the world again dude.

  • @jenkinson123 There were Aes Sedai before the breaking - go back and read the prologue for the eye of the world - the betrayer of hope spoke of the dragon wearing the ring of the tamrylin etc. This tells us the Aes Sedai predated the breaking as an organization even if tar valon wasn't founded until after. As for the seals being heartstone they had to tell the whole back story of the game in just over 3 1/2 minutes so that detail isn't super important.

  • @jenkinson123 Cuendillar!! though in the old tounge the mean heartstone but cuendillar sounds better :P

  • @jenkinson123 or cuendillar. Whatever :S

  • @jenkinson123 yeah, well, try explaining the full lore of WoT in a three and half minutes long video, see how well you do. ;P

  • @somefuckstolemynick True story. Much to difficult in three and a half minutes.

  • @jenkinson123 Cuendillar to be precise

  • @MrKingofdahoops Not precise, just a different language. 'Heartstone' is as good.

  • @jenkinson

you cant afford to overcomplicate an intro...nobody would understand it, and it would be like almost playing in the dark

  • Oh, I so have to get this game! I love the Wheel of Time Series.

Now a question, do you actually play as Rand and the others from the Series, or is it a new Character?

  • @Zabuzasgirl1

Watch 'The Wheel of Time Prologue' video here on youtube. You play as an Aes Sedai just prior to the events of 'The Eye of the World'. The Aes Sedai is weak in the power, but an expert in the use of Ter'Angreal. It's an FPS consisting of you using Ter'Angreal to hunt down 'The Hound', a darkfriend who assaults the White Tower and tries to steal two of the Seals.

  • @TrollingIncoming

Oh, that still sounds pretty intresting. Something I have to get!!! Thanks!!! =)

  • Is it just me or does the one power sound a lot like the force?

  • @ozzymetfan It's just u.U could say there r similarities, really only that both drive the universe, but as a whole its completely different. Its not a natural force, it was created, its separated into 2 halves, 1 for males, the other for females. Its been set up as much more complex then the force, its more developed and can be used in a myriad of ways. Its made up of elements( Earth, Wind, Fire,Water, etc.) Its visible when used, all in all its original, unique to the WoT books, R.Jordan's own.

  • Haha... that was a way more detailed response than I expected. Lol

  • Well, it's visible to others capable of channeling the power. Not to mention there are no stupid "midichlorians".

  • @ozzymetfan I always thought of that too.

  • O. M. F. G. There's a frakkin video game? I'm so behind... must have...

  • @VairyTay

Unfortunately for you, it is ten years old and likely greatly expensive now. However, there is a new one in development. I don't know whether to trust it or not, though- it ins't in good hands.

  • @otakuoftheday

Not true at all. I just bought this game for less than $5. =)

Course, I bought it used without the box and off Amazon, but still.

  • @felixvelariusbos

If it works, then that is perrrfect. I digress, it is a good game, and I hope you enjoy it.

  • Brilliant narration.

  • Ah who cares

  • He doesn't say it wright Aes sedai i say it diffrent

  • how do you know it's not the other way round? :P

  • Robert Jordan was a genius, melding ideas from other stories into an original concept.

Whereas Callendor will be used in making the three who are one...is it too far a stretch that this would be the 3 taveren? there is precedent in other similar stories eg books by michael moorcock. possibly not but it may be one way of interpreting it.

  • I read somewhere the 3 who are one was something like saidar/saidin/one power or something like that, forgot, anyway, i never thought it might mean ta'veren, that would mean the other 2 could channel no?

  • Nice ... although the story is not really told as it is in the books (for example, the white tower didn't exist in the Age of Legends but was founded much later ... )

  • i hope they would make this great movie same as lord of the rings

  • I would love to see this as an rpg or mmorpg on a next-gen system, there is so much potential there, being able to choose your own character choosing which side to serve, losing control of your character and having him run wild destroying everything until someone finally kills him, or dedicate yourself to hunting those, even be a damane LOL

  • being a damane would be a little dull gameplay-wise, though ... I mean, you couldn't do anything by yourself.... unless you could control the sul'dam, too, which wouldn't really make much sense xD (the other way 'round, then ... ^^)

  • I didn't mean start as a damane, I meant start as a female who can touch saidar and if it's a mmorpg maybe you could be taken prisoner and made a slave until someone rescues you or sets you free, and the only way to make aes sedai prisoner (besides an oath rod) is to make them damane, starting as a damane would be lame, but being able to capture your enemy and making them damane would be funny, then if they gave up, they would just become another tool, but if rescued, they could take revenge...

  • man you guys debating this is giving away parts of series i havent read yet im on book 6 lol

  • So Rand will have to seal the Dark one's prison with two women and Callandor? or will he just destroy the Dark One as a whole? Cant wait for book 13

  • "... the three must become one."

i think rand wields callandor and links with one ashaman and one aes sedai. the "three" that must be one could be saidin, saidar and the true power channeled thru callandor.

  • Callandor is flawed. It has no buffer. To be used safely, Rand would have to link with two women and allow one of them to direct the flows.

  • "... the three must become one."

I've always thought that refers to the three parts of his own mind... the child he was, the stone-hard man he became and the voice in his head.

  • I friggin love twot

  • makes sense, the three powers becoming one throgh callandor...remember the seanchean girl tho, who Min said would help him die...

  • Well done on this,

A few things I think were muddled up and have been said earlier:

The Aes Sedai who drilled the bore thought that they were discovering a new power that males AND females could tap together, however, the power that they were sensing was the dark ones essence.

lol'd at the Choedan Kal's quick construction! by 2 people i might add.

a few other things but I won't point them out!

    Well done though!

  • Is there anyway to get a hold of this game? What is it for, PC?

  • It's a pc game. might be able to find it on amazon or ebay.

  • Im pretty sure Rand will die at last battle...actually his body...but who knows :D

  • okay is morridin Ishamaell reincarnnated????? and who is cydane, osangar and aranger ?? excuse my spelling

  • cyndin is lanfear, moridin is ishmael, osangar is aginor, and asanger is bel'al

  • you were right that cyndane, moridin and osan'gar were lanfear, ishamael and aginor respectively, but asan'gar is not be'lal, as he was destroyed with balefire and cannot be resurrected, asan'gar is balthamel

  • Bro Be'lal gets his ass blown off the book, cant reincarnate from bale fire

  • I love love love this series so bad, I want this game.

  • I wonder that if rand can hear Lews Therins's voice, was Lews Therin hearing Rand's voice when he went mad? Since they all are threads of the pattern, being reborn in a cycle. It's also kinda wierd to know that Rands ancestor served Merin Sedai (Lanfear)

  • No he didn't, that makes no sense.

  • No i mean the guy who was hanged was the son of rands ancestor-

  • meaning he was rand's ancestor

  • He sure did. PRIOR to the opening of the bore...

  • exactly

  • I really love these books. They are my favorite and I wish that they would make them into movies (not animated). And no, Moiraine is not dead but she is trapped somewhere and Matt has to find her. We sill havent gotten to that part.

  • Many people that theorize about the ending forget about two, powerful ta'vern. Perrin and Mat. It is upon them that the success of Tarmon'Gaidon will lay. What is their role though? And what is with some of Min's prophecies.

    For example:

The pouring of water onto sand, could have been the creation of life from death.

And the beggars stick? I have no clue.

  • They really do need to make another one or maybe more wheel of time games, and make it like oblivion, except with better voice acting.

  • if they make a movie, it better be for every book, no crappy book mergings. And it better be over 3 hours long or in 2 parts, or else automatic suckage.

  • acroboomslayer:

As much as I look forward to seeing Wot in live action, there is a part of me that dreads it as well.

Here's why: if they turn the books into films and release one movie every 3 yrs (the average for a film series) we are looking at 42 yrs for all the films to be produced and released. We as fans would be better off if Red Eagle and Universal release it as a t.v. series. (aprox 25 eps per season= entire series in 6 or 7 years.) If they stick with film route, never be finished.

  • I love this cutscene. Whenever I try to explain the WOT series to people I just show them this. Also as a side note, I don't know if anyone knows a lot about the age of legends but does anyone else suspect that the people had advanced technology like jets/rockets and power armor as well as the one power? That's the image I got from the books, like the sho-wings and the seanchan/age of legend military armour, shock-staffs, glow bulbs, and lanfear saying they had been to other worlds.

  • ya I thoguht that too. But Bel'aal said to Rand : "remember when we used swords Lews Therin?"

so obviosuly they weren't too too advanced in techonlogy- the sho-wings just utilzed the one power (could fly in the age of legends)

btw I know its 1999 but this trailer maeks WoT look really gay cuz Lews Therin looks like and Trollocs look really lame. its not as intense as say warcraft 3 where archimonde levels and entire city or anything like that.

  • Yeah I'm pretty sure it said somewhere that Lews Therin & Bel'aal just thought swordplay was some sort of interesting archaic hobby; like fencing I guess(like how people dont use swords in wars today & some people still use them for sports.) I'm pretty sure at least it was mentioned that no one else used them back then cause the army had shock-staffs & the one power & maybe guns. technologically advanced was when Lanfear said they had visited the stars&asked if Rand even knew what they were.

  • woops I deleted part of the last sentence. I meant to say the one thing that convinces me that they were technologically advanced...

  • it's sad that the author passed away. but he left 300 pages of detailed notes for his final book. can't wait for that to come out.

  • I just got my roomie hooked on WoT. I was so sad when Jordan passed away, he created the best series ever written. I am a huge Whhetl of Time nerd, and I didn't even know about the video game. I've played the paper and pencil RP, but jeez, a video game. When did it come out and for what? Im thinking PC, but I can't find it. How do I get it. I need it, bad.

  • interesting pronunciations he uses. different from what i use for some of the words. like i pronounce "aes" as two syllables.

  • the guy who read for the books on tape versions made "aes" one sylable too so i think thats probaly the right way to say it.

  • at the end of every WOT book there's a glossary with pronunciation guides and other interesting little tid bits.

  • Sorry but this trailer contains some untreu things. The folowings things are not treu:

    * Mierin Sedai, the later Forsaken Lanfear, diddn't know she drilled the Bore into the Dark One's prison in the Collam Daan.

    * Trollocs and Myrdraal are not created by the Dark One from nightmares, but by the Forsaken Aginor.

  • No one knows if she knew she was drilling into the dark ones prison it was inferred that she may have

  • The author chosen to finish this series is as big a WoT geek as any of us. And, in his own series, he recently made the NYT best seller list. He's an amazing person. He has all people and resources behind him. This final book will be finished, and I truly feel it will be finished in the best way we could hope to see it.

  • What the... I don't get it... can you buy a game about The Wheel of Time?!?! Omfg! I'd never thought that would happen! And for like... 9 years ago? Holy shit! I love you RJ

  • I still can't believe that RJ himself -- in 17 years or more of writing the WOT -- did not finish it. I mean, what the f was he doing? 17 YEARS! And no end! He spent time writing New Spring; and before his death in 2007, book 11, A Knife of Dreams, his last, left RJ at least two years to finish the it. I have my theories on this, why he, by choice, did not finish the WOT. I have my theories. But we'll never know.

  • Don't worry. RJ left behind notes so the last book in the series, that he had begun to write, would be finished as he intended.

  • Brandon Sanderson is finishing the 12th book right now. His own guess is that it will be released during 2009.

It is already the biggest WoT book in the series with 408k words, and he think it might even reach 750k! =D

  • The ending of the series was one of the first things RJ finished.. so in a way he did finish it.

You act like 17 years is a big deal? Hell, J.K Rowling started writing Harry Potter in 1990, and the last book was published in 2007. That's 17 years. LotR was written over 12 years, but took 37 years from when it started to when it was published. Shannara series has been around since 1977 and still going.

He didn't finish it because he was not done and these great stories take time no mystery there.

  • very cool trailer! If they were to stick to the tavieren threads without going too much into the aes seddai aspect of the story, it could work (in theory..) in a 4 movie block, we could get to tarman gaiden and find out if this is the end, or just a memory of light. Pardon my spelling, but it COULD work!

  • it is actually an good movie for 1999

  • The problem is that you would have to skip two-third of the series if you just made a story about them.

And since everything is linked in the serie, no-one would understand it (except for those who read the books)

  • I don't think making a movie would be that hard, if they just stuck to the main plot. (Rand, Mat, Perrin and their travels and fights.) My main thing about he books is that he overwrites himself, from book 6-11 nothing really major happens, still love the series, but most of the plot in those books is people sitting in town talking, then at the end he forces in a battle of some sort with minor losses or something very cliche. Why did you sell out Robert Jordan? The first books were so great!

  • Well, that's true, but the things they talk about are very im portant to the plot of the entire sieres.

  • ROFL nothing major? I suppose if we ignore: - Founding of the Black Tower - Rand's Kidnapping and Dumai Wells - Fixing the Weather - Sammael's Death and capture of Illian - Siege of the White Tower - Seanchan invasion of the mainland and being pushed back into Ebou Dar - Faile's Kidnapping - Mat finding the daughter of the nine moons - THE CLENSING OF SAIDIN ANYONE?!?! - Moiraine not actually dead And yet a few more obviously but i'm running out of character space in this reply.
  • FUCK FUCK FUCK SPOILER ALERT!

  • LOL OWNED!

  • moraine not dead? WHEN DID THIS HAPPPEN? i need to read that one more carefully, or is she the woman in red that Moridin drags around with moghedian?

  • the second woman, is Lanfear reincarnated. Moraine was actually trapped the the tower of ghengi.

  • Is there any way I could get that starting sound from the video? Wheel of Time is my fav book series ever.

  • Wow!! Good Job. Forst well done trailer ive seen of this although this will and shoudnt be made into a movie

  • is there actually a movie? pls pls post if there is cuz i would buy it

  • i think its animated

  • Universal Studios is making a movie based on The Eye of the World, if it does well, they'll do the rest of the series. And by god they better do a fucking good job.

  • if they don't, that'd suck ass.

and they better have awsome music and awsome actors. No crappy actors.

  • A fun fact; In Sweden, they splitted the 12 books to 24. So i got twice as much too read! :D

  • Nah not really they split the books in half :P but i like it better that way, feels like I have more to read xD i love this books ^^

  • 0mg I have the books at home and I started reading it a week ago.......Hey guys can you explain me who is the dark one and who is the dragon cuz' I didn't understand when I read it....

  • Don't worry...you've got twelve books and a prequel to get the hang of it.

  • Ummm.....I didn't understand the prologue "The dragon mountain" :[ :[ :[

  • Of course you didn't. No one does at first...you'll come to understand it.

  • 0k...Thanks...

  • Ya, I didn't understand it the first time reading it. I'm on the Fourth book now, started 2 months back, and now re-reading the prologue makes a lot more sense.

  • Yeah I'm in the middle of the first book right now =D but I've allready understand the prolouge cuz' the last few pages are a dictionary and it has almost everything like Who is "Luz terrin telamon",What is "the one power" and Who is "SHAITAN" >D If I was in Emond field right now,I'l be getting my ass kicked by Nynaeve for saying this name...haha >D>D>D By the way I'm imagining the murdraal just like the nazguls in the lord of the rings....I think they are the same...

  • This great epic deserves another game or better, a movie or series.

  • i agree they need a actual good game. i really want a movie to but it would be imposible to make a movie as long as this series needs one to be

  • They said The Lord of the Rings would be impossible to make a film adaptation. And yet they succeeded with a masterpiece, although they had to take a shitload out. And the same would have to be done The Wheel of Time, and probably even more. Also, since the series is so long it would be even more difficult, because if there was an Eye of the World, there would have to be its sequel, and so forth.

  • Dude, LOTR was 3 books only and it could be done and they did it extremely even taking a bunch out. WoT is 12 books they would fuk the story if theyy tried

  • yea its best if they make it a tv series (a hige cost tv series that is)

  • It could be made into a bunch of movies if they got a dedicated director that really cared about the plot. Plus this series has a pretty huge following so they should be jumping at the chance to make a dozen or so awesome movies that would make them millions of dollars in the long run.

  • No, they really couldn't. It gets REALLY hard to make more than 3 movies without having to change many of the actors because a good movie takes on average about 1 1/2, 2 years to make so really 2 years x 12 = 24 lol. Too Long!

  • They don't have to make ALL of it into a movie, they could make half of a book into a movie, go "We've made a wheel of time movie" and leave it at that. That way they don't kill the story and the can concentrate on making it awesome.

  • there was a video game?!?!?!

  • ya it sucks. :(

  • They should make this into an MMO. I mean, who wouldn't want to try and become an Aes Sedai/Asha'man? There a lot of specialties - i.e. classes - that people can play within being a user of either half of the one power.

I wonder if there is one already being made...

    Hmmm...

  • I would play a Gleeman!

  • Bethesda or Bioware (or why not both?) should remake it. With all the lore and side-plots... It would be fantastic.

I'll always prefer the books though. :)

Thanks for posting this. Like many others I had no idea the game even existed. xD

  • i`m reading Eye of the World but skiped the prolouge.so,many things i dont know.

  • yea the hundred companions were supposed to have all been male, hence the taint being on saidin

  • wheel of time by robert jordan (RIP). 12 books out right now 1 prologue book and 1 more more book to finish the series.

  • 11 books out, and a prequel.

  • is there a movie of the book to?
