  • It's been 3 years since this accident happened, still fresh in the minds of many.

  • THis person deserves at least A STREET with his name in NY ,i just think that is so stupid of one f.attendant not to b wearing her uniform like the others she is traumatized

  • Hey... calm down people. The dude did his job... Alot of pilots have saved people: by doing their jobs! Always gotta come and make it Hollywoodian.

  • @mikado2 So many awful things happened that decade (the DC shooter, Columbia spacecraft, etc), it was nice to have some great things happen too.

  • @mikado2 Talk is cheap; had it been your life, or the life of someone you loved or cared for, you might have a different attitude. People who seek to marginalize the accomplishments of others are people who have accomplished very little themselves.

  • @mikado2 lol sweet speech but hes just too cool to talk it down like u do he did an outstanding job , if he would have try to go back to airport as many beginners maybe have done he would have prolly crashed and all the ppl on plane plus ppl on ground would have die but he did that quick decision to the river which was fantastic !!!!!!

  • I was aboard this flight. I'll be forever thankful for the movie "Airplane'; that is what made me decide that I wanted to dedicate my life to being a "Jive" translator.

  • this man is who you call a hero, very emotional reunion, it makes a change to see someone trying to save lives rather than killing them

  • Sullenberger talks likes a mother f*cking boss.

  • 3.32, thats special, captain and first officer!!!!

  • GREAT PILOTS!!!! GOD BLES THEM!!!!

  • This is what they mean by "the greatest generation".

  • God bless those poor birds who gave their lives so this could happen.

  • i remember watching this with my aunt when it was first on a couple years ago and trying for all i was worth to not choke up in front of her. but when i ran across it just now by myself i dont care, i was choked up from start to finish.

  • Hey Cpt. Sully... I know your feelings. As an A&P mechanic, we hear about plane accidents of all kinds and we, too, wonder. What happened?, What were the weather conditions? Why did the plane malfunction? What could have happened? Who was responsible? Can anything be done to ensure it doesn't happen again? You know what I mean. Well, sometimes folks make mistakes, no matter how hard they try to be perfect. As a mechanic, I try to make things perfect, if possible, but know that they aren't. itsOK

  • I think he hates birds. He saw them and flew right for them.

    nah not really

  • They should make a movie on what happened, that would be pretty cool.

  • @Extremeteamification Potential title: "The day a plane hit a bunch of birds and then landed in a river."

  • @MrGrevy A better title: "Captain Sullenberger"

    I like that one.

  • @Extremeteamification That works too.

  • How can anyone in their right mind dislike this video showcasing one very brave and noble man.

  • @poloX1220 i cried watching this and im proud i was able to cry for such a heroic man who is alive, not dead, along with all his passengers, god bless, there has got to be a space in heaven for him and his crew.

  • 3 people rides the bus.

  • @azn9874 You mean "Three people ride the LITTLE bus"??

  • It's true....to save a life IS to save a world, someone's world. This crew is to be commended, for the odds of surviving were scant to nil, yet everyone did.

    Thank you Captain and Co-pilot!

  • god bless you caption and flight crew and for what you did and saving those people and their families your a hero and thank you very much and with the heart you all have and I love to fly inside a airplane allot too Sincerly Nadine Dambra

  • Everyone aboard that flight has the right to be thankful to God for allowing them to have a brave, smart and dedicated Pilot. I'm sure Captain Sullenbergers' faith in God will continue to guide him throughout any situation that may come in his life. God Bless you Captain and if I get nerve enough to ride an airplane, I would want to be on your flight!

  • I cried watching this video. I watched from Brasil the amazing landing in the Hudson River. Sorry Captain if my english is not good. But my feelings, are true, to my dear hero, Captain Sullenberger.

  • they should change the name of the chessburger to sullenberger

  • @ELHammadi, oh man thats a good idea

  • Very humble and well spoken guy! You guys are all to be commended that day for your actions,Sully,Flight crew,Stiles,Patrick Harden, and staying calm and professional! Hold your heads high you have nothing to be ashamed of!

  • I still hits me hard that the entire flight was saved. Thank you Capt., First Officer. You have earned your retirement. Thank you.

  • Captain Sullenberger is the man. Now I hope he gets to enjoy retirement.

  • A TRUE HERO, AMAZING

  • I just cried watching that!!!

  • Thank you US Airways for this beautiful gathering to celebrate life. The moment @ 1:21 on this reunion video is absolutely precious. A three year old boy of a passenger says thank you. These are the moments in aviation that we all are proud of and we all will remember. Air travel today is difficult for everyone, including airline employees, passengers & everyone in the professional aviation support industry. I am so thankful for this celebration, for Sully, Jeff, and the excellent crew. " J "

  • Capt. Sullenberger and the crew of U.S. Airways Flight 1549

    simply "HEROES"

  • I must say this man is extremely articulate ! I am so amazed and humbled by his ability to speak.

  • @ryanael I would be more amazed at his skill at flying than his ability to articulate. You need to get your priorities straight.

  • I would like to find the two people that rated this a "thumbs down" and punch them square in the jaw as hard as I possibly can!!! Thinking that a crew of very brave people saving 155 lives and not taking a single in the process is nothing short of a miracle!!! God bless this man and his entire crew and thank God for safely landing this plane!

  • Sullenberger for pope.

  • they dont make guys like him anymore, hes such a guys guy

  • Person:You saved my life.

    Pilot:Well , your welcome.

    Person:Well I got to go.

    Pilot:Ok bye

    Pilot(Mind):She's hot!

  • This is the only plane crash I have seen, that was not any ones's fault, and ended well!

  • omg ! tell me what he has done that makes him a hero alredy !!

  • @purplemonkeymouth He did his Job if you cant understand this maybe you need a wake up call

  • @purplemonkeymouth if you were one of the survivors, you wouldn't say that. what has he done? does successfully ditching an a320 into the hudson saving 155 passengers cut it for you?

  • omg dude. when did i ever say that.

  • @purplemonkeymouth i'm refering to you saying that he isn't a hero. don't get me wrong, i didnt say you were on the flight.lol

  • so saving over 150 lives does NOT make you a hero?

But lighting fireworks of someones head [I REFER YOU TO YOUR Henrik i fyr og flammer UPLOAD] is worthy of praise?

    FUCK OFF TROLL!

  • @The8thDOCTOR srsly ! shut the fuck up! when did i ever say he is not a hero?! i think he is a hero !he saved so many lives ! you have a serious problem dude..:s

  • @purplemonkeymouth Sullenberger heroically mastered a failing airplane, you're still struggling to master a toilet bowl! Can't believe you're such an a-hole.

  • Sully, I'd like to buy ya a beer too, unemployed right so I will have to pay you back later.

  • Still inspirational over a year later.

  • Gotta take your hat off to this guy.

Total professional, as was his crew.

Could i keep my cool when 155 lives rested on my every decision???

    Doubt it very much.

    Respect.....Propper.

  • True American Hero!!!

  • A true aviator

  • Such great men... nobility is not dead.

    I salute you, gentlemen.

  • i'm in tears watching this

  • this guy is a legend! As well as the flight attendants and the rest of the crew of flight 1549. This puts me to tears watching it. Such an incredible story! xx.

  • I hope this story never fades, never goes away.

This is a saga that brought out the best in people.... The courageous and capable flight crew of Cactus 1549, the first responders who were expecting the worst, the boat captains, who's skills were also critical, (think of what the outcome would have been if a miscalculated approach would have bumped the plane, Patrick Hardin , the air traffic controller, and the passengers, who's cooperation was essential.

    Many great lessons, many heroes.

  • Being in aviation most of my life this act of airmanship is incredible. It is a mircale, for so many factors had to be just right for this to turn out this way. Not doubt his skills as an Air Force pilot and the training he received paid a critical role in making this landing. To keep the nose up and maintain the necessary glide path for a safe water landing on the Hudson River no least without engine thrust is simply extraordinary. As we say in the Navy "Bravo Zulu"

  • THEY MAKE FROM A BUG A DOG.. :))

  • January 15th - National Sullenberger Day !!!

  • @Krupa08 I would say "National Crew of Flight 1549 Day."

  • @Krupa08 is that actually a real day

  • "America has never had to look long or hard to find it's heroes".

Ronald Reagan, President of The United States.

Speaking as a liberal Democrat, I look at this magnificent crew, I think about the air traffic controllers and the first responders, as well as the capable, skilled boat Captains, and The Late President's words strike me as being not only true, but also prophetic.

  • u.s airways should quadruple his bonus since they have gotten free good exposure from him.

  • Sadly, where the top level management US Airways is concerned, (NOT Capt. Sully or his crew!!) we have an all too clear exa

Captain Sully has had his pay cut by nearly 40% over the past few years, while the revolving door management engorge themselves with pay raises and fat bonuses, all at the expense of the people like Capt. Sully and his magnificent crew who have earned their pay.

  • LEGEND

  • I believe he is now back on active duty with USAir, hope he is also giving training lessons to other pilots on how to deal with emergencies (for every airline!) Although I know commerical pilots do get such training, now you have a pilot who survived such an accident (very unusual), so lets use the knowledge

  • i had to cry watching this video, and i rly didnt cry for about 7 years

  • 3:30 to 3:40.... so heart felt that two real men can help each other cope and embrace like that, and we all know they're both real men!

  • If I were the Us Airways CEO, I would give the entire crew and their families unlimited free travel anywhere in the world for the rest of their lives!!!!!

  • Amen brother!!!

  • but all pilots gets free travel with the company

  • yeah, but you know what I mean, special treatment, first class, extra cake, maybe a vacation package here or there..... this has been an extraordinary happy ending!!!

  • but would they want to go on a plane? Maybe train tickets!

  • This guy is a true class act. I am a aspiring first responder and I can only hope I can have the same dimenor if put into a similar situation. He is truly an inspiration

  • Parents of children take note. Sports stars that make millions are not the icons you want your children to grow up and be like, and admire as heroes. This story emulates what a real hero is. God bless all involved.

  • this video made me cry

  • Excellent pilot, articulate and a good man..

  • This is so amazing, im crying as i watch it, I work as a flight attendant for pacific blue in new zealand and it hits home to think how bad this could of been. God bless the crew of US Airways xx

  • not enough ppl like him around

  • for samuraiKevin2 quest...

=bcoz he was an air force pilot..

  • Hell of a pilot! Incredible landing!

  • and now his family just got bigger...

  • thanks captain Sullenberger...and crew...

  • He's so within himself, and so well-spoken, and he's got such a beautiful family...it almost doesn't seem real. But it is! How about that?

  • Captain....Yes, you have given billions of people HOPE....hope that we can be safe in the air...hope that anything can go RIGHT. I was not in your plane, but I feel like the world is a better place because there's someone like you in this planet. I hope there's more like you.

  • Amazing words, thank you

  • i;'m terrified of flying, but if i ever were to fly again, i'd be happy to fly with him

  • When he flies again I'd be proud to be a passenger on his first flight.

  • sully is a natural leader. make people the feeling that he can control anything, i mean anything. great man

  • 5:45 he looks a little misty eyed. Even stone-cold badasses can cry. Sully is a real man.

  • The miracle took:

    1) extraordinarily special pilot such as Sully,

    2) a special plane a320.

    3) very special wheather on that winter day,

And God who has chosen all 3 !

  • What a reunion and interview, very emotional, Thanks to Sully and All the Crew on a great job, given the right circumstance and doing the right thing with that circumstance made them all hero's. Job well done!

  • What an extraordinary event, and what an extraordinary crew. These are people we can all celebrate, and we need that right now.

  • A couple of comments:

1.- A true thing about the US people is that at any event that touches its people -good or bad -the entire country surrenders to their souls and unites. God Bless you for this

2 .- Malcolm Gladwell has proven his 10.000 plus hour thesis with this landing

  • I've watched this video four times in the past month. and it still excites me. I think there were a lot of factors that haven't been told about how he made the landing with no engine power. ONE HELL OF A PILOT, SERIOUSLY

  • Well, living in Israel, some things take time to arrive (LOL) . I finally saw the whole interview on 60 Minutes. I haven't cried from pride and happiness in a long time. I was literally 'choked'. What an amazing 'miracle'. Not only Sully, but his whole crew acted in a professional and caring way that saved all those folks. Cheers!!

  • wonderful !

  • Im not from USA but only one thing what i can say ! Sully GOOD JOB !

  • How did he do it? training, training, training

  • This has to be one of the most moving Utubes I've seen in a while. Especially heart warming was the comment by the Holocaust survivor explaining the old Jewish Proverb, 'He who saves one person, is like he who saves the world" Sully and all his crew saved a lot of worlds that day.

  • Amen.

  • Amen to that!

  • Captain, you deserve all the respect in the world.

    God bless You!

  • the more i listen to this guy, the more of a complete role model type he seems to be. Man this guy just makes so much sense and says all the right things. Truly admirable.

  • @writofmandamus Great comment!

  • Not if we as Americans have anything to say about that. We'll send their @$#es straight to hell if they even tried it.

  • Hats off for you sir....

    Captain Sully=Superman

  • this is crazy! these people are awesome! they deserve some sort of award. screw the bailout give them some money!

  • let's make this guy our president after obama...lol

  • That pilot is Badass.

  • What do you mean badass?

  • Sullenberger for president!

  • He's got my vote! Yeah!

  • Praise God from whom all blessings flow.....

  • so if we replace him with bush and the 150 people with iraqi shoe-thrower,what we got is....

  • As an airline pilot , I can't help watch stories like this and it always brings an emotional tear to my I. He did a great job.

  • for some reason I first read "emotional fear"

  • Comment removed

  • He had to forgive himself for not doing something better???!!! Just what the hell was he supposed to do, telepathically order the geese not to fly into his engine?

I understand trauma is irrational in many respects, but I think it's obvious there is nothing he could have done better. He brought a massive plane with no engines down with no casualties and virtually no injuries. That's about as close to perfect as it gets.

  • Good man, Sullly and crew.

    <3

  • In a world where we over use the word "HERO" --- we have truly finally found one. Embrace it Captain for all of us who truly need one today.

  • Well done. Well done.

  • Praise the Lord that he and his crew were on that plane on that day. Praise the Lord.

  • I had no problem with her interview. What was your problem with it?

  • Awesome.
