Thank You so much. That was my time and a wonderful time it was too. Hearing that song takes me back to a time when I felt that the world had a good feel to it. Yes times were bad but that! song sung the way it was made me feel like I could do anything.
This 7" Single Disco Mix contains a very poor edit of Parts# 1 and #2. It's abrupt if you listen to it.
When it was re-released in the UK on a 12" Single in 1976, the mix was slightly different - seamless is the best word to describe it.
Seems the label went back to the original tapes for the Disco Version released on the 12". If I'm not mistaken, there is also a slight vocal difference at on point in the song.
@DaManDL....point taken, but I was referring to 57dms ( "this is early house music). Actually, I don't really remember referring to it as "disco" in those days in the clubs (gay) that I went to we were still spinning LPs and 45's and the scene was still "underground". Look at the playlists (DCA in Philly or Loft /Better DAYS/Gallery in NYC) Mostly Black or R+B and it was a beautiful time to be young and out in those legendary clubs..
SHHHHHEEEEEEESSSSS RIGHT!!! Disco's in Bushwick Brooklyn began opening up in early 1973, but they didn't morph into 'Discoteques' fully until 1974, at least where I came from. Disco's were basically 'holes in the wall' kinds of places, whereas Discoteques were much bigger, with heavy duty sound systems and mega lighting.
sure it was called disco then. case in point, look at the label of the 45, dated 1974. This version was called the "Disco Version", which essentially was the long version. They had no 12" singles yet though..not until Ten Percent by Double Exposure.
