what a great rig everything in the rf seems to be single bipoler transistors and fets which would make repairs easy so many modern commercial rigs are almost impossible to repair by the home brewer I bet that little rig will still be around in another 25 years time good dx on it and best 72/73s gowmj
@12presspart The rig is about 25 years old now and it worked when I used it for this video and it had not been used for perhaps 15 years. It was built by a very good ham engineer in USSR - The workmanship is really impressive. I see you have no videos ? and also signed 72/73 what does the 72? mean - maybe I should no but do not. I see no bio - looks like you are in UK ? Are you willing to give a little more info about yourself? Have a nice day and good year - Dave
@lcfgroup 72 is like 73, but used mostly by QRPers (or low power operators- less than 5 watts for CW and 10 watts I think for SSB). I am a CW QRP op, those who use less than one watt or QRPp, use 72 or even 71 as best regards.
@mts0628 Hi well this shows we are never to old to learn new things - I have been ham for almost 59 years and did not know about 72 or 71 - I do a little QRP and now will use these. -- Have the Ten Ted 507 505 & 405 . Dave KK4WW & N4USA 72
@mts0628 Just remembered I also have the little Ten Tec Tuner AC-5 and it will be in my next videos about tuners - working on first one now and should post it in few days. Dave KK4WW & N4USA
@wd23st Yes it is a real great job at engineering and construction. My wife and I purchased this from UA4LM Serge on a visit to Ulyanovsk in about 1992. We still get a Christmas greeting from him. Dave KK4WW Historical Computer Collector , Floyd Virginia 73
We are in the Appalachian Music community of Floyd Virginia - I am also making a small museum display of some of my computers available to the public in the Village Green. We are on the "Blue Ridge Parkway" & " The Crooked Road - Virginia's Heritage Music Trail" . A lot of good things here - drop in and see us sometime. Also if you are biker this is a big stop over for riders on the Blue Ridge Parkway - Dave
Hamvention in Dayton coming this month - hope you can make it -- visit FAIRS with KK4WWW, KK4WW, KG4RGY, W4VZH, 8R1AK, KG4MAV, SM0XBI & VE3VDX at booth 412 see you their 73 Dave KK4WW @ N4USA
Hi All you ham folks - hope to see you at Hamvention 2011 come by the FAIRS N4USA booth 412 and say hi. Also keep up with N4USA and ham info at twitter-com/n4usa 73 Dave KK4WW at N4USA
@RIDDICKorigional Hi You are sure correct this is a really nice design and construction - I like it and it still works after all these years -- by the way we still have contact with the ham that built this radio -- 73 Dave KK4WW
My wife Gaynell KK4WWW & I have visited former Soviet Countries many times - 1990 was the first to Lviv Ukraine with Victor US5WE & Helen UR5WA . We carried a computer for them and set up an AMTOR digital station- perhaps the first in Soviet Union. We also taught a course for engineers about Computers " Automated Instrumentation" . We still have contact weekly with Victor and Helen. We also operated with Ukrainian amateur radio licenses and had great time.
