Hi salukispeed, The DC motor was chosen because it was small and had the best power to weight ratio. Regenerative braking can easily be achieved with this motor by using a Kelly controller with regen. The current generated by regen needs to be regulated so that the batteries are not damaged. On this build I am using an Alltrax controller so no regen!
Ha ha! So let's see some more videos man! That might slow ya down a little! >:) There is a lead time of about 3 weeks for batteries so I am looking at about 1 month before testing. The main thing that is slowing me right now is the decision about how to position the batteries. Once this is sorted then it's just a case of placing the order. :)
great job, sorry for my english....i want have the same job in my gilera R1...but in italy you can t use on the road! just in privat area, and i can t spend money for use in my garden or wood!
why you don t use kokam batteries or a123 or altairnano o tunder sky?
I look your job, i want to see your honda on the road! i stay in irlanda in winter 2007...2000km in 9 day in all country!!
So if you cannot drive an Electric motorcycle on the road in Italy then the Vectrix Maxi Scooter is illegal in Italy? Surely you can register a Gilera R1 with an electric motor? Perhaps you should contact the department of transport to make sure this is the case. There are many EVMOTORCYCLES running on European roads now! For the batteries I am looking for the cleanest option with BMS and Charging. At the moment the most complete solution is with Lifebatt in the UK. They are LifeP04.
Very Interesting vid. Look forward to test ride vid Hopfully .
