Costumes and setting are good but something is missing... Maybe a little less repetition of random walking...

@Jessicle9 the "random walking" is not walking, it is part of traditional Russian dancing. that is what this dance is meant to be, a Russian folk dance.

This was without doubt the most boring Trepak I've seen...and that's kind of sad considering this was the Mariinsky Ballet doing it. I really expected something better...the choreography was kind of humdrum...a little lacking in energy...almost too simplistic, really. Granted, this is one man's opinion, but whatever.

@ballerina483 You are saying a big true. This is one of the better dances including the costumes. This costumes are tipical and traditional. A lot of people here don t Know russian dance, ukranian dance, etc I love this variation. Ballets from Kirov and Bolshoi are the best of the world.

The choreography is different as well as the costumes, but it doesn't mean it sucks. Everybody has their own version. Just shut up and enjoy it.

Just saw the Kirov's version of Nutcracker in Los Angeles last week. The most morose and boring Nutcracker I've ever seen. The Kirov has seen better days. You know there is a problem when the very company that premiered the Nutcracker can't put together an interesting Russian Trepak!

our studio uses kirov's choreography (changed up of course..) and russian is one of the few variations that got changed
