  • Can you please make one of these for Mozart's symphony no. 25 in G minor or one of Paganini's caprices?

  • @punkr00 My to-do list is already too intimidating, so I'm not taking any new requests.

  • Happy Birthday Mozart!

  • This is awesome! Thanks for creating the musical scroll- I'm pretty sure I understand it, conceptually, even if I'm not sure which instrument stands for what color- low ones are low, high ones are high-Okay- I sound like an idiot- but I fully recongnize the genious of being able to write this score by hand - with just a piano, and hearing the rest of it in your head~ Brilliant! :)

  • My favorite is the Toccata and Fuge in d.

Well this one and Vivaldi are also amazing!

Thank you so much for creating this.

Seeing the patterns really helps to understand music.

  • GENIUS!

  • best one is definitely vivaldi- four seasons

  • did you create this "music animation machine"? If so, what languages/programs dd you use to make it?

  • @doomsday1216 I've written the music animation machine several times over the years, in various languages. The language does not matter.

  • nice

  • did u enter EACH note by yourself or u just scan the whole thing on the machine?

  • @PooStupidPoo Neither. I started with a MIDI file (that I found on the web somewhere), which I entered into a notation program, where I corrected and changed it by comparing it to a paper score.

  • How long did it take you to make this?

  • @dsadwarf I don't remember, but it probably took a few days --- more than one, less than a whole week.

  • Running this and House/Dubstep in the background, somehow really nice.

  • Amazing how this has less views than hat so called entertainer..drake... =[ Long Live AMADEUS!! Music to its fullest extent

  • actually! -when i "read" all the song, my head starts to hurt from the back, it is amazing, as i can feel it always when i concentrate and listen and look at the tones, what you did with this program is just amazing, i can feel my whole brain pulsing, great work mister.

  • Great music to listen to while I study!

  • good god but this helps with gcse work :-)

  • gorgeous!!

  • youtube! you are a beautiful thing.

  • nice to know that mozart was not only pleasing to the ears

  • dislike bar is like a ninja...invisible

  • Awesome video of one of the masterpieces in the history of music, from my humble point of view.

  • I love this song

  • wow...what program is this? an infographic?

  • @memokk Something I wrote.

  • this is like a musical lite brite. i like.

  • Mozart was a sixty years ahead of his time with this symphony. The only things Beethoven had over him was scope and weight.

  • @ajradecki9292 Beethoven completely innovated the way sonata allegro form was written. Both composers were incredible with very different styles, and very innovative compositions.

  • Wonderful!!!

  • Out of Mozart's symphonies, this might just be my favorite.

  • NOOO I CAME BACK TO SEE IF I CHOSE RIGHT SONG ON MY EXAM AND I DIDN'T NOOOO I LOST 3 POINTS!

  • Bravo!! This is such a brilliant tool for someone who's learning music to visualize what they are playing.. excellent..

  • I love this song. I haven't heard this in a long time and it brings lots of good memories back. :)

  • This is a piece you can feel in your bones.

  • You are great.

  • Amazing...

  • This makes me wish I knew how to compose music

  • Gorgeous.

  • my PC will collapse and explode in 5 seconds

  • i can play this on piano :)

  • Kunst!!!

  • Yep, and that's why they called him a prodigy

  • jejejejeje...colors

  • a completely delightful piece.

  • Reminds me of Brahms so much, at times... Certainly, the evolution of Western Classical music can be witnessed in this piece.

  • MUSIC TO MY FUCKING EARS

  • It's like watching a computer version of Mozart's brain.

  • BRILLIANT!!!

  • Omg that is so cool. which program did U use to make this song.

  • @Dempeokami The Music Animation Machine.

  • @Dempeokami he didnt actualy make this song mozart did

  • @13thbraniac Mozzart made it i was talking ab THE PICTURS!!! idiot

  • Thank you so much for putting this on youtube! I don't know what my mornings would me like without this :)

  • Thanks for this amazing vid. The way you have done it, one is able to easily see that this isn't just any piece of music, it is architectural and stunning in every little detail.

  • As a metal fan, people would not concider it normal for someone like me to listen to this kind of music. However, I enjoy these two themes equally. This is nothing less than a masterpiece!

  • Is there anything cooler than this? I THINK NOT!!!!! WOW!!!!! You my friend have hit my "tickle" bone, just Thanks!!! :0)

  • if i die hearing this, ill die happy

  • awesome video.. since this is tonal music? all of the notes played in the midi file never wentout of the g minor scale? G A A# C D D# F????

    thanks in advance

  • @felipescalador No, it modulates; I haven't checked, but I'd bet that all 12 pitch classes appear somewhere.

  • @felipescalador

    watch?v=g0ZE38BQmvQ

its a small part of one of the lectures mr. Bernstein gave at

Hardvard concerning the analogy between music and linguistics.

Here he tries to explain the beautiful modulations (changes of key) of this piece, how mozart manages to keep tonal and chromatic elements in a stunning balance

and consistence; pointing toward the more general aesthetic

conclusion of having contradictory forces can make a kind of delightful ambiguity.

  • @smortep3 this is actually really fascinating thank you :)

  • @felipescalador Felipe, its just a small technical point but the G minor scale is spelled G A Bb C D Eb F….. A# / Bb and D# / Eb are enharmonic (same pitch) but you don’t repeat letters in a scale. And I think it does modulate to other keys too. Anyway, it’s a fantastic piece of music!

  • @felipescalador it modulates to B flat, check this video of Bernstein is you would like to learn more

    /watch?v=g0ZE38BQmvQ

  • @lvbwagyfm thanks!!

  • @felipescalador "Tonal music" refers to music that has a key. Pretty much all music you hear from rock to classical is tonal. It uses the G harmonic minor scale in the first 16 mm quite a bit, which is common G A Bb C D Eb F#. The first modulation is a :22...using a C#, an "Italian 6" chord to modulate to the Dominant, D. But if you want to jam on it you can just use the G pentatonic scale lol

  • @felipescalador By the way.... You should always write your scales with notes in order, then modify the individual ones. in this case, G A Bb C D Eb F G.

  • @felipescalador I'm fairly certain that this is sonata allegro form which typically starts in the tonic key, then it typically modulates to the dominant key (or relative major) in the exposition. Then the development's (especially of Beethoven) modulate constantly. Beethoven was really amazing at modulating to distant keys. And then the recapitulation is the restatement of the intro theme. This is a basic overview. Look it up on wikipedia if you want more information.

  • @felipescalador well, its still considered tonal music. but obviously in the symphony he is going to use chords out of the original key. and also technically the g minor scale is G,A,Bb,C,D,Eb,F. Overall, the piece as a whole is in g minor but to add interest the composer will modulate to temporary different keys.

  • That looks so cool. How it has all the square things on it and.......you know what I mean. I hope. lol. love this song though. I am listening to this while doing homework. lol

  • I'm sure you're tired of requests but pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee do his 25th. I think more than myself would appreciate it.

    thanks

  • Damn fantastic!!

  • Mozart and Bach tie for my favorite classical artists. I absolutely love them.

  • @akira50000 i'd probably take debussy's "Clair de Lune" over this (piano version).

  • Mozart, I thank you.

  • música que nunca se extinguira

  • ok i have now watched like 5 of these videos in a row and i think i'm starting to get dizzy *holds head waiting for it to clear* i think it's partly because one of the songs was 16 minutes long lol

  • This is real music.

  • This is amazing~ It's such a true shame 16 people missed the like button. Or perhaps they just have no respect for classics.

    Shame~

  • I'm watching this because of the 39 Clues...

  • @123Junkins what about it?

  • @smalin does that mean you`re not going to make the video of 25th or 41st anymore?

  • @JeOfFShAdOwSeEkEr07 No, it just means that if someone is curious and impatient, they can use my free software to make a movie for themselves.

  • @smalin

    indeed : )

  • At 3:52-4:00 Wolfie drank half of his sweet vine and continued

  • liked and faved

  • This is why people still remember Mozart.. People like lady gaga and the other pop ikons of today will never even come close to understanding this art...

  • @skatermoellerskov Believe it or not, Lady Gaga really didn't want to become a "pop idol" so she's probably the closest to understanding this music.

  • Fantastic job!

By the way, it would great if you tried Mozart's 25th or the 4th movement of his 41st. I'd love to see what the 41st would look like with this program.

  • @HerlockSholmes123 You can download my freeware MIDI player (from my web site), download a MIDI file (from someplace like Classical Archives), and see for yourself ...

  • i like the trill at 3:14

  • it's like, he is running away and scared from something and in some parts comforted

  • brilliant visualization......what program are you using with which addon for the orchestral sounds?......

  • @saintgerty In this video, I combined the animation with the graphics in Adobe Premiere Pro.

  • any chance for some early 40's russian?

  • @whatthefuck386 No, probably not, not from me, not in this lifetime.

  • @whatthefuck386 An early 40's russian? Hm- Maybe better than this snotty austrian. Can you give me some examples of some composers you have in mind?

  • @captainbackflash well a lot of it was written by poeple working for stalins propaganda department, im not entirely sure the names but its definatly in the symphony catagory

  • As a composition major at a conservatory.....all I can really say is....this is fucking magnificent. Seriously.

  • 5:30-6:18 is just so incredible. Just blows my mind. The man was just so F'ing brilliant.

  • c'est juste magnifique vraiment superbe

  • Your Honor, Benevolent @smalin, you hadst make me cry. I give thou, Benevolent smalin, my honor and a distinct pleasure to convey my warmest thank you for thy beautiful song. I come unto this, I hath cried till joy come once more

  • @345bomberman vive la france

  • Great work on this. I am using it to show my daughter the structure of music. She plays clarinet and is always asking why her part doesn't sound like the melody of the song. Great visual aid to show what all the different sections are playing. Kudos to you for this work.

  • @CR3W1SH03S Thanks!

  • AND MY PIANO TEACHER WANTS ME TO LEARN THIS.

    YA, SURE!

  • I'M MAKING MYSELF AS MAD AS MOZART REVISING FOR THIS SODDING EXAM!

  • fml, exam tomorrow

  • like if you're doing gcse!!

  • @listhopper56 we cant like but YEH AM SO GONNA FAIL :( loll

  • Guitar Hero : Symphony Edition

    good luck

  • I let my bady daughter listen to this its great for brain development in children

  • @brownbeautie92 That's been scientifically disproved...

  • @0XxSasukexX0

    Well it certainly doesn't hurt.

  • Ah, it's been a while since I studied for my Music appreciation class. Nice to to be greeted once more by these very well done videos that are entertaining as well as enlightening. Good work, smalin.

  • @Edlihtamable Parfaitement dit.

  • This symphony is played in my class at school.

  • So you say you are creating this things?.. if yes then you are very good

  • Omg this is incredible! Considering the fact that the conductor's a fish! :O

  • Fabuleux !!!

  • i like the scrolling score!

makes it easy to follow each instrument!

if only they had this in the gcse music exam!

  • I can't even hear the little notes in the beginning. I feel like I'm missing out on something :(

  • @kourosh89 You are. Turn up your volume or use headphones.

  • Word of warning: don't ever use this song to wake you up. I had this piece as my alarm in the morning for years, and have come to hate it. I still wince whenever I hear the beginning.

  • Mozart symphony is nice...I love this music...hope there will be an orchestra playing this music....this is also my piano piece.....

  • Can you do the fist mvt. of Lalo, Syphony Espagnole....I'm playing that right now and it isn't on ur todo list.

  • I love !!!!!!!!!!

  • If you stare intently for all 8 minutes and then you look up at the wall or your surroundings or this screen all of it will appear to be in motion floating or flying to the right for the next few minutes.

  • @Skaldi3 lol :)

  • @Skaldi3 try it with the sun :) jk don't try it with the sun. it will make you blind :)

  • Beautiful!

  • This is a great piece for budding composers to learn about it...it can teach you about interesting ways to manipulate chromaticism, the circle of 5ths, interesting accompaniment figures, etc. I am studying the score for this right now and it is the most enlightening thing I have ever done.

  • @colourfulwithaU Yep, they don't call him "Mozart" for nothing.

  • @smalin correct sir, they refer to him as Mozart cuz that's HIS NAME!

  • @smalin so y do they call him "Mozart" ?

  • @galtzur21 Why do they call you by your name?

  • @smalin Brilliant! (Where do you _find_ them?!)

  • @Arch5280 Find them? I make them myself.

  • @colourfulwitha------ you are absolutely right! however this is also great music to calm any beast, unsettled emotions, lower blood pressure or even ones racing mind. this is overall the kind of music society need to play over the radio station every now and then and perhaps while driving at the moment of explosion from road rage will soothe the inner beast.

  • i could play that i just dont wanna right now

  • @beautifulbutterflyem

    This makes me happy.

  • beautiful music.

  • i think mozart went death so i kinda feel bad for him

  • @Roseimo21 Beethoven went deaf not mozart

  • @bigkeith999 LOL some people are stupid rofl not you the guy who thought mozart went deaf i kinda pissed myself luaghing XD plus he spelt deaf wrong XD

  • @Roseimo21 first you probably mean deaf, and second that was beethoven

  • do you know which one is violin 1, as im doing this for gcse music and i find this better than using the score sheet

  • @countdownisdabest

violin 1 is the very highest green line, it has the melody.

  • @byzajdel thanks, i appreciate it

  • Glenn Gould once said the first 8 measures of this piece is splendid but everything else is the epitome of banality.

  • @NimbleTurtle13

Glenn Gould was referring to the measures in the development section of the last movement. Not that people take this criticism seriously, as he had to market himself some way after giving up public performances--in his case, it was making puckish/hyperbolic statements akin to a 50s stand-up comedian.

  • WOOHOO!!THIZ ROCKZ!!!

  • I love this graphical score, fantastic !

  • The animation is art in itself

  • This program is awesome. Makes it really interesting following the movement and harmony of the parts :)

  • I never heard classical music this way untill I saw some of your videos.

  • it gave me an optical illusion.

now all the thumbnails are shifting to the left...

  • Wonderful videos!! I especially love the symphonies, because it's really great to see the whole corpus of symphonic orchestra "building" the piece instrument by instrument ( beethoven's 7th is magnificent, the structure is pure beauty)... It's like watching and hearing the piece as the conductor does. May I suggest Ravel's Bolero?

  • @Maja1102 I agree. Bolero would be great.

  • It tells a story.

  • what is the name of the program ?

  • @catosp Music Animation Machine.

  • Best at: 5:41 !

  • Whoever made these videos is a genius. Thank you so much for letting us better understand these incredible pieces.

  • @tubista44 DITTO

  • Beautiful I always wanted to see a video like this...helps me understand better the sincronization of everything in this song!.

I became suddenly more interested in reading about this and reading notes...

  • even after like what 200 or 300 or more years ago i wonder how much money the creator made even after being dead lol

anyway great music list you got even though i am a big fan of electro, trance type music

  • Dang it!!!! This is awesome!! I like the way every note is captured. Makes you appreciate even more the great masters of music. Compare it with today's "music" which is more than chaotic trash and kids go wild at the great "music". It would be great to see Tchaikovsky's Capriccio Italien Op 45 set up this way. Thanks and I enjoy all your posts.

  • wait is this a midi file itself?
