  • why does it have so many dislikes?

  • @Makinnoz13 because the video's fake.

  • @sylver369 but u did it for fun xD right?

  • Well the last part just made the whole thing STUPID. The transistor was invented same year I was, 1947. 1 of the 3 guys was Willian Shockley, who also invented the idea of a sperm bank, I still don't know if that was a good idea.

What this video fails to mention, there were two types of transistors, PNP and NPN, also the first were designed to be amplifiers, then later the 'switching' type, the basis of most solid state computers.

Amplifiers can give a variable outpit, switchers only on-off

  • uhm.. wrong schematics..?

  • thats not the first made ever, buy a model of the first one ever.

  • Another name added to my never click again list.

  • the end is so funny I watch it three times already

  • Actually, the original transistor still works, sort off.

It absorbs moisture, and so one needs to rub off the surface layer with a bit of dustless cloth prior to use.

But like a germanium crystal diode, once this is done and a new "sweet spot" is found, it will indeed amplify.

  • I just wasted 3 minutes of my life.

  • This first transistor was a "point-contact" junction device that was very primitive and fragile. The junction was like a cat-whisker detector in a 1920s crystal radio but with three leads instead of only two. It took a while to make this a real transistor like we know today. It was more a "parlor trick" than anything of real utility.

  • Is that a picture of Elvis and Nixon on the wall?

  • Schema is so wrong. What an idiot!

  • You JUST lost a good chance to show something really interesting!!!

  • is that Mark Hamill ? lol

  • try billions LOL

  • So did it work???

  • "your not an engineer unless you make something smoke"

  • @drummingdude84 LOL, so true, i've gone through probably a dozen power inverters / supplies. Smoke was involved in every case.

  • Is my mp3 player still going to work in the ear 3000? Ofourse, because the law of physics won't change. Allthough actually building one is like finding Jesus' dvd collection.

  • its a replica

  • no komm3nt

  • The circuit drawn @ 1:50 will not work; large battery + should be on C; small battery + on B and E connected to GND. Besides that, the germanium transistor is a PNP type.....

  • Watching this was a waste of my time. Misleading description.

  • stupi

  • So what's up with the CGI anyway? It doesn't even look real.

  • -_-

  • I forgot you still owe us the answer.

  • Hi

You forgot that they had to probe the surface to make it work.

You to touch the semiconductor with the germanium and search(probe) the surface to find a spot where the amplification works

  • A pity he got the amplifier circuit A about F. He had it as common base, but emitter and collector were reversed.

  • Where does the second glove come from?

  • very stupid way of educating fellow humans. or is it for cats

  • But will it blend?

  • How did you get this transistor

  • you forgot the load resistor!!!

  • Lets use the transisor that we sow use :)

  • that was the cheesiest video i have ever seen

  • common base configuration... (",)

  • @halldor89 Ye sure. the "normal" engineerguy clips are way better in presentation.

But the actual information is fairly good represented.

  • Хуйня .

  • Nice vid but misleading title

  • How did i even end up here.

  • Never gave a good look at the transistor!

  • Bill Hammack looks like Tom Dickson, so for a moment I have a flash where Bill saying "Will it blend?". :P

  • dont lett me play with that transistor because i tend to kill them a lot

  • Does it work? PLEASE

  • i've done that to a few transistors in my day

  • @fighterlegend Yeah!!! It will blend!!! But, please stop it!!!

  • @fighterlegend OMG, It's a virus!!!

  • it s a perfect copy

  • @smikules Stop the "will it blend" posts, please!!!

  • When did he put one his right glove?

  • The positive terminal of his small battery needs to be connected to the BASE of the transistor if it is NPN, not to the collector! this wouldnt fry anything, in fact it wouldnt do anything. What did the first transistor resemble, a bipolar npn or pnp or neither?

  • the part that they left out of this story is this: one year earlier in 1947 an interesting thing happened in roswell new mexico.

  • @andywalkerplumber Somebody's been reading montauk books.

  • @Billionaireben hahaha, you're on to me! I did some research and found that the fet was actually invented back in the 20s, but was never built. It was a theoretical patent. Even if there were aliens and advanced civilizations out there, I am confident that the human race on its own could find ways very quickly of achieving lightspeed space travel, unlimited free energy, and indestructible bodies. There are some amazing people out there!

  • a single 6970 graphics card has over 2 billion transistors

  • ohhhh i really wanted to see it work! not some trick! still i love your videos engineering guy!

  • it was good but talks to us as fools, stupid video

  • Me: Out there, to the left, and down the hall.

    Him: Oh, Thank you.

    ME: Mwahahaha...

    :3

  • Pooh. I was actually hoping to watch the first transistor actually function.

  • That's cool and all, but will it blend?

  • Open source information <3

  • bow ties are cool

  • Срань , а не видео ...

  • This comment brought to you by Transistors.

They're in ur computer playing with all ur megahertz!

  • If he was serious it would probably work as i see it.

  • At 2:39 Hi, do you have another transistor? Stupid question.

  • hey that diagram is rong. it is a NPN transistor not a pnp

  • Photoshop. But still, pretty cool.

  • @HedgehogStudios1

More After Effects than PS ;)

  • @HedgehogStudios1 After Effects, but nice try at sounding smart :)

  • semejante caja para eso ???????????

  • transistor for the win!!

  • @SpicyHam Electron Tubes For the Win!

  • I'm curious if it still works or not. Or at least how well it would work.

Maybe you could make a replica so there wont be any risk of hurting the original.

  • @wweeaaawwee Yeah. Every single transistor ever made is one... Apart from the other type (PNP?) Correct me if I am wrong.

  • Is the talking and sound in general added after the video is shot? There was something bugging me about the syncing of sound/video in the first 40 seconds.

  • @kami7125 I was having the exact same thought. The first shot feels redubbed.

  • @kami7125 he has redubbed the voices over afterwards

  • @kami7125 It's a common practice to redub the sound if you have a problem with background noise. Many video makers fail to take into account this.

  • @kami7125 you must be, normal or something

  • meh:/ bad humor.

  • was it replica or real

  • @karandex LOL it was special effect

  • @karandex Duh

  • what a terrible ending. Try actually doing what the title says you will do.

  • Ha. My first thought when watching this video was, "hey, that's Allan Tuchman!"
