The most glorious Tele tones from the heavens above in the hands of the Master! Oh come away from the muddy Gibson dark side and back into the Fender light Joe! Oh I beg you.
Czar could be captain of this ship. Only reason Eric isn't with this guy is because he makes you take your eyes of Bonamassa. And while it might be considered a "smart" play by the corporate brainwashers, Joe has not rocked like this since the new arrangement.
Everytime I hear this song it gets better. Bonamassa's current bass player is great. It must be horrible being comparred to Eric Czar who may be more creative overall than Joe Bonamassa, though Bonamassa is one of the greatest guitarists I've ever seen.
I've been waiting a long time for someone who can do the following:
1. Lay down rock, rock blues and blues tunes that will have you picking your jaw up off the floor. 2. Absolutely rip apart the fretboard by applying multilple techniques and blazing chops (this guy is NOT a one trick pony) from song to song and even within a song. 3. Have a voice that supports his guitar work AND can sing within the framework of multiple styles (rock, blues, rock blues etc..). JOE BONAMASSA is the REAL DEAL!!!
@kugunga I doubt you'd call it a rip off if he went into a more well-known song, like Smoke on the Water. You can probably assume Joe knows King Crimson and assumes his fans do as well.
the intro seemed to me... a improv warmup.... they just start jammin out and create off the cuff ....genius...right .on the spot with feeling!!!!....just awsome.....power!!!!
They need to make 2 dvd versions for every music video made. One like this that looks cool, and one recorded by a guitarist!. Then we could all watch close ups of him playing, instead of a shot of the guys motorcycle boot?!
@mydogspet I would have swore evryone was here listening to Bonamassa? Yet all I see is Clapton, blah blah blah. Clapton, blah blah blah. You want to talk about Clapton music? I don't have problem with that. Just go watch CLAPTON videos, so you make your posts there. Not where people are discussing and watching Bonamassa. I'd go to Claptons page and talk Joe up, but then I would have to listen to his musoic and I dont want to right now. Moron.
This is up their with the best kick ass blues rock now , then, and probably tomorrow! It reminds me of Blues Power, Eric Clapton, and a little bit of The Allman Brothers live at the Fillmore, and a dose of The Cream....I just dig it!
At the start of this video is there some tension between Eric Czar, and Bonamassa. Looks like Czar waved him off. As much as I love JB....one has to wonder if JB and his managers didn't want someone with the talent and chops that Czar has. Where they afraid that someone who may be a better musician than JB could or did cause conflct.
@bluesinduluth It's just what You Wanna See , better Enjoy the performance off both players trying to create something interesting ...................
@bluesinduluth It looked to me like Eric initially leaned over to see where Joe was at. He caught on right away and waved Joe off once, and then when Joe kept looking at him, he waved him off a second time (I know where I'm at.. run along) something like that.

Joe, you are the talk of Tel Ivev, Israel. Your name and genius has been well established in the holy land . Anyone thinking on booking you better build on to the size of their edifice because the crouds in the future may just be woodstock festival size to come out and hear you. I watched people in the Israel croud just put their hands on their head with awe-struck-unbelief as they heard you sing and play. After hearing you, the croud puts everyone else on the shelf, you are the blues king.
Joe baby, you are the man. You don't have to worry about anyone coming upon the scene anytime soon that will every take your place. You are just to get-down-with-your-bad-self. After hearing this, I'm thinking, this boy is holding back yet on so much more that he is going to blow our minds away with in the future. How do you remember all these licks? You are just infused with the majestical genius to do so. I'm not over-zealous, just calling it as it is. You are the man Joe.
This is just unbelievable. Just when I thought I had heard all of his licks, now this. The boy is just unbelievable. Fantastic showmanship. Cool as ice on stage, and lightening fast with furious drive, and yet not missing even one lick on the frets, with a voice that just is second to none on every song he sings and plays. His whole decorum is calm, collectively cool, in the midst of all that bombastic drive. He knows where he is going at all times with his runs, and performs them so well.
The wierdest thing about this clip is the fact that it doesn't sound overplayed. With such a complicated lead and a busy bass line it should sound overplayed and messy, but it doesn't. Guess they're good enough to make it work.
This was his original band...but damn these guys with their current keys player would be AMAZING. And how about the RAH performance with Clapton.....out of this world!!!
@timboech i rarely reply to comments but feel i must, and not to be an arsehole or anything, but i think his band now are more TYPICALY bluesy (with the hammond and everything) but i think this band was more commerical as it was more rock based.
@timboech Totally agree. This tune "Taking the hit" is F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C and incredible how three people can make so much sound. Power trio !!! Joe's playing and rhytm is second to none.
@pinkfloydmania Not ready for Royal Albert Hall? You're kidding, right? He sold the place out months in advance of the concert. And what did he get during the show... four standing ovations?
I love this Rockpalast sound and band, but Joe is trying new things and by doing so has taken his skills as a performer to a new level. In the process, he has broadened his audience.
@imarunnergirl Don't misunderstand what I said (In my language I could explain it to you in a better way)... Simply I said that for me Joe is still "too young" (I know that he's 33 now) for this kind of things...
In my opinion he is still "too dynamic" for the "old blues" he's doing...
Sure you didn't understand beacuse I can't speak english very well, anyway you're right just like me....
@imarunnergirl I think you hit the nail on the head. Clapton went back and forth in styles, and I think great guitarists tend to get bored doing only one things- well, those very rare guitarists who can consitantly do a multitude of styles. Can you imagine any other guitarist who would walk away from Cream or Blind Faith? Gasp. But then we would never have had Derrick and the Dominos, or Layla.
@spudgun05 LOL- Maybe Joe Bonamassa was holding them back? Just kidding. I didn't realize until recently that Eric is a World Class talent like Joe. He has his own solo albums with incredible work. He's not just a bassist. He's like Stanley Clark, and has a custom designed instrument that doubles as a guitar. It's on Youtube. You can't highlight both Joe and Eric on the stage. Believe it or not, Eric is holding back here.
@timboech Couldn't have said it better myself. I love watching these Rockpalast vids. Dust Bowl was a real disappointment to me. Eric Czar is the man... if Joe isn't utilizing you anymore, please move to Tennessee so we can get somethin going on.
@timboech Could not agree more. He has been record corporation cloned into one of their puppets.I don't care for the new album much either. No energy in the tunes or the playing.
@Bradenh83 Joe's fans should take a look at Eric Czar's solo album material is on Youtube. He has a custom made bass that also allows him to play both bass and guitar parts at the same time. He's a great guitarist in his own right.
mhh... I think one of the worlds best new guitar talents... and a hope for all the people who fight for the rise blues... i` eighteen and I fight for it.... this is brilliant music guys.... not the fucking stuff who is showed at the TV today... ( not the hole but really the most)

Totally agree.

This was his original band...but damn these guys with their current keys player would be AMAZING. And how about the RAH performance with Clapton.....out of this world!!!

reminds me of the "Band of Gypsies"
with billy cox,buddy miles, and.......
bonermassa should have stayed with these guys!

HELL yes, this was the magic band, I'm not sure what happened there, but he needs these guys, ESPECIALLY Eric Czar back.
I for one also liked the more rockin' nature of So It's Like That better than his newer stuff.

@timboech i agree this band was tight

@timboech I agree in everything you said, even if for me Joe thinks that the way he's walking is the best.
I think that for concerts like that at the Royal Albert Hall Joe isn't ready, for me he's still young...
pinkfloydmania 1 year ago

Sure you didn't understand beacuse I can't speak english very well, anyway you're right just like me....
pinkfloydmania 1 year ago
@imarunnergirl I think you hit the nail on the head. Clapton went back and forth in styles, and I think great guitarists tend to get bored doing only one things- well, those very rare guitarists who can consitantly do a multitude of styles. Can you imagine any other guitarist who would walk away from Cream or Blind Faith? Gasp. But then we would never have had Derrick and the Dominos, or Layla.

@timboech glad i'm not the only one who thinks that!! these guys are amazing together.

@timboech could'nt agree more ,why did kenny and eric leave??
spudgun05 1 year ago
@spudgun05 LOL- Maybe Joe Bonamassa was holding them back? Just kidding. I didn't realize until recently that Eric is a World Class talent like Joe. He has his own solo albums with incredible work. He's not just a bassist. He's like Stanley Clark, and has a custom designed instrument that doubles as a guitar. It's on Youtube. You can't highlight both Joe and Eric on the stage. Believe it or not, Eric is holding back here.

@timboech I agree. These guys rocked and they were super tight.

@timboech Couldn't have said it better myself. I love watching these Rockpalast vids. Dust Bowl was a real disappointment to me. Eric Czar is the man... if Joe isn't utilizing you anymore, please move to Tennessee so we can get somethin going on.
thesimpleman87 8 months ago
@timboech Could not agree more. He has been record corporation cloned into one of their puppets.I don't care for the new album much either. No energy in the tunes or the playing.

Not just a monster, but a BEAST!!!
TheBlackCrayon77 1 year ago
@Bradenh83 Joe's fans should take a look at Eric Czar's solo album material is on Youtube. He has a custom made bass that also allows him to play both bass and guitar parts at the same time. He's a great guitarist in his own right.
