(hmm let's see, that's Dice-K, Okajima, Tazawa, Saito, formerly had Hideo Nomo...the Sox do like their Japanese players, don't they? Not that I'm complaining, they've done great.)
the west coast teams have all the best asian scouts. the dodgers had the first asian office, the first japanese player, the first korean player, and the first taiwanese player. they had the most asian players of any team last year, and became the first team to pitch 3 players from different asian nations in the same game.
Ok When Sammy gets 4 rings on his fingers and gets more than 485 saves you compare him with Mariano the greatest Closer ever to live. If any manager can have any closer in the world pitching the 9th inning for them sick or healty they would say Mariano Rivera
What happened to the "greatest" closer ever in the 2004 ALCS? And its easy to get those stats and rings when you have to play behind 3 roid filled filled pitchers.
According to the Boston Globe, the Red Sox made an offer to Takashi Saito after he was non-tendered by the Dodgers.
The Saito market has been surprisingly quiet since he was let go. He'd seem to be a really good gamble for a large-market team, especially since he'd be under control for three years even after being given a one-year deal.
It's gonna be all about the OX Broxton for the next 10 years. He'll be setting Dodger records year after year. Saito is the man but he's hurt right now, no one can touch Broxton's 100+ MPH heat
He's the greatest closer EVER! He puts every other active closer-especially Papelbon and Rivera-to shame. His ERA is NUTS. Sammy(as he's sometimes called), YOU TOTALLY ROCK! I hope that he becomes the 1st Japanese-born pitcher to win the NL Cy Young Award. Go all the way in 2008, Blue Crew! GO DODGERS!!!!
both of u are on crack... yeah he's a very good closer, but Gagne sucks, and Rivera and Papelbon pitch in the American League. And just the fact u compared him to Mo is dispicable! Let me ask u... game 7 9th inning of the World Series, who would u take?? Mariano Rivera or Saito?? C'mon, man!
Im a Brewers fan and I'm liking what I'm I'm seeing here!

Takashi has a kick butt curve and a great change up to make his fastball look unhittable.

I'd say the best closer right now is either Francisco Rodriguez or Broxton

Welcome to Boston, Saito-san.

I think Nomo resurrected his career in Boston. He had his second no hitter with the Red Sox and was our defacto ace after Pedro went down.

Nice Video, but Saito will never accomplish what Gagne did. Gagne was a true "Mania"
The excitement of Gagne coming out of the Opening Bull Pen Gates was the best entertainment imaginable.
So Don't Try To Make any Comparison.
I was there almost every game......I KNOW

Yea Rivera is sick
You right I would perfer Rivera over Saito.
But I think Saito one day will be just as Good or even better than Rivera.
LADodgerKid714 3 years ago
One day? Hes almost 40. Sammy only has a few years left.
