Whoever said "at least their old locker room was real wood" obviously doesn't know much about wood. The old lockers were made of Red Oak plywood veneer, one of the cheapest wood species you can buy. The new lockers are made of an exotic wood called Sapele Pomelle which is in the Mahogany family. It's not possible to get solid sheets of Oak or any other wood that are as large as the pieces of wood that were required for these lockers. Veneer is "real" wood. In fact, it's the best of the tree.
