I live in california and it's early March and my wisteria is already beginning to bloom some buds. Is it too late for my "february" pruning?

Planted a Wisteria potato about 4 years ago...it is pretty crazy already, but has yet to have any blooms making me crazy...I am going to prune it this wee, never have before at this time of year...hopefully I'll get flowers this year if not...Off with its HEAD! It is coming down...

My wisteria seems to flower every year without all this faffing around. It is a grafted cultivar called 'prolific'. I just leave it to do its own thing.
