  • I would love to see or hear Mugwumps..

  • THIS NOT ORIGINAL VERSION

  • @rememberold OK, send me a link to what you think is the "Original" version played by mainstream media on the air in the 1960's.

  • @Nocaro my video is the original version I have the 45 rpm disc of this song and the same to my video

  • @rememberold Yes, what I have posted is the ORIGINAL STEREO version of the song. What you have posted is an embarrassing mish-mash of some of their hits in mono. Generally 45 rpm's were NOT released in stereo during this time period so any 45 rpm sound you might post will not be the ORIGINAL STEREO version of the song.

  • @Nocaro Further, when I created this YouTube Channel several years ago, my intent was to post of the best "sound quality" currently available keeping the original recording whenever possible. Not very many people are going to be too interested in hearing how a 45 rpm mono recording sounds when an "original stereo" version has always existed.

  • @Nocaro sorry did not know about these versions

    you are the expert

There is a station that transmits only 60s and 70s

and the strange thing is that they transmit roy orbison-you got it 1989

Why? if they are only 60s and 70s

roy orbison-you got it is the 1989

why? the program only 60s and 70s

  • @rememberold I can only think that since Orbison was so closely tied to the 60's music scene, that station felt they could play anything he recorded whenever he recorded it. Even the Sirius/XM station "50's on 5" quite often reaches well into the 60's for music.

  • Thank you, Nocaro. Trivia: The Grateful Dead went electric and psychedelic after hearing John Sebastian because Jerry Garcia didn't like the folk sound. The folk scene benefited from his choice.

  • Who's the woman who shows up @ about 2:07 standing next to John? Was she standing in for Michelle?

  • @NYhomewrecker miss gibson took michelle's place when the group all voted to fire her... did not last long though,, the fans would have none of it and michelle returned to the group a short time later.... michelle' afair with denny and extensive drug use would doom the group after being in existence for less than 3 years....

  • @isfrebbie

hello, have been listening to this song for years its great Jonh Sebastian was lead singer 4 The Lovin Spoonfull, also sang Welcome Back Kotter theme song and played at Woodstock Rainbows all over you blues is a good song 2, just thort u like 2 know

    Paul

  • I've been loving this song since I found the "California Dreamin'" album in my parents collection...they definitely had it goin' on !!!

  • Great tune!!! My was Michelle Phillips absolutely beautiful, those eyes I could really fall for. Mama, she was just great. John Phillips, ah, no comment.

  • Always loved it .

  • Cass said it best, it was John's historical song of the group; Just to add to other's: McGuinn is of the Birds, and McGuire is Barry McGurie. Creeque Alley was the street name of the group at the time.

  • I wonder If Mama Cass had a sense of humor. Or I wonder if they explaines this song to her before they recorded it.

  • Favourited.

  • Mama Cass...(like Janis Joplin)....someone I would have loved to hear in concert.

  • Mentioned in the lyrics are the Mugwumps, an earlier group with Mamas & Papas' Cass Elliot and Denny Doherty, plus Zal Yanovsky & John Sebastian (later of The Lovin' Spoonful). Good post. Thanks!

  • great one!
