Pugs have breathing problems because of their smooshed faces. His tongue is probably sticking up because he is dehydrated. I do not in any way consider this to be abuse, nor was I being immature. that kind of heavy chesty breathing means they are overheated.

they can die from it if not calmed and cooled down. they wont slow down either when playing, so you have to watch them in hot temps.

No its just because pugs have a flattened nose, their breathing is very different.

They always have a snort like breathing.

If they sleep they snore always really fast.

My pug haves this too ;)

We went to the vet and got it explained.

Because of the flattened nose their breathing channel is shorter then other dogs.

The Air haves shorter traveling time and when the dog breathes out the air traveling in is bumpin on eachother.

That causes the heavy breathing :)

My Pug does the same thing!!!!!! I have a two (?) year old Pug named Anna. i do the same thing with her. she loves to get in the swing. sometimes she'll walk right up to it. =D I love my Pug.......sometimes. she's a little annoying at times, but she's my dog so i love her.
