I can't do justice to a hilarious story he told on TV, but here goes. In Minnesota, 100 years ago a legend began inspired by the love a white boy had for an Indian girl. Their parents forbade them to see each other, but he loved her so much he swam across an ice-cold lake every night just to meet her. One night he caught a chill and drowned. The Indians renamed the lake in his honor, and erected a plaque on a nearby tree. It's still there and reads: Lake Jackass.

I loved Jackie Vernon when I was a kid. One of the funniest stories I can remember was the joke he told about his quest for a real, authentic Bavarian Cream Pie. Does anyone have it ?
