  • Another thing that puzzles me is the commando, CQB, mop-up style actions that the troops in the vid are displaying. It would seem to me that the primary purpose of pathfinders is to mark drop zones. So in order not to give the enemy any clues regarding the prospective drop zone, I'd say that stealth should be the pathfinders' credo. That is, they should shy away from pitched battles. Can somebody shed some light on this?

  • Wait a minute, check 2:03, 2:32, 2:37 etc.... This doesn't look like the SA80 to me. Have the paras converted to the M4 carbine?

  • @hgintern Probably Ive got a friend in the Australian Army adn he says our special forces are using the M4 whereas the rest of our troops use the Steyr

  • The enigma code was cracked when a U-Boat became damaged in the north sea and had to surrender to the Royal Navy, they found a decoding device on board, From then on the British had the power to read all German codes. The US cracked the Japanese codes before the war broke out. Just an FYI

  • What a crap documentary, I was interested in finding out about the pathfinders. but this is just silly old war porn.

  • True to life video, I commanded 1Para Pathfinders in the late 70s

  • This is a really great video. Always interesting to see footage of UKSF doing there stuff. These are some seriously tough guys. I briefly knew a guy who had rebadged from the PFs, and he was definitely not someone you messed with!

  • why aren't they using the L85?

  • @jkun17 Because elite units of the British Army such as the SAS and the Pathfinders train with a vast multitude of small arms, not just the standard L85A2 or the SA80A2 as it's known in the British Army

  • The song instantly reminded me of Black Ops.

  • What's the song?

  • i went to school with the brigadiers son "max Carlton-smith"

  • I have a question. The Brigadier looks to be in his 20's. I know in the American Army our Generals are usally in their early 50's. How does that work in the British Army? He seems to have a great deal of training and experience, but there again, looks quite young.

  • @JessieJackson11 Thats our British Brigadiers for you! I'd say he looks more 40 though.

  • @JessieJackson11 That might be what 20 year old Americans look like but he is propbably late 40's

  • @JessieJackson11 Coming from someone with an army that has 19 & 20 year old sergeants, we'll let that one slide!

  • Javelin ATM, Fuck yeah.

  • my father in law was one of the original pathfinders in ww11 and still going strong at ninety and still as tough he was the reason i joined the paras after leaving the aattv after nam in 1972 always remember on the 8th day god made the paras and the devil ran

  • Good film this. Just makes me realise I need to get some fitness back up!

  • Rolling stones - gimmie shelter?

  • @iRhymeWithHeaven what the 2 song

  • @Lito5435 first song is rolling stones gimme shelter

  • GET SUM !!!!

  • Bloody hard men

  • @toppaz79 Don't forget Tommy Flowers MBE, he designed Colossus, the world's first programmable computer. It's a shame he's always forgotten, I suppose the nature of code braking (being highly secretive) is to blame.

  • UKNationalAirsoft....What im saying is we layed the ground work. Do not even drag me on the subject of the phone lol.....It seems like im on here every day now....with these comments.

  • When i'm older I am hoping to join the British army and eventually become a Pathfinder, if I wear glasses that make my vision perfect when wearing them, would I be medically acceptable to undergo training for the role?

  • @SNFozzy919 Call the AFCO, each case differs so no-one here can tell you.

  • @SNFozzy919 Yes, the british army will except you with glasses mate :) hope for the best

  • toppaz79..I know your country likes take all the credit....but the orgins of the internet reach back to research of 1960s ,commishioned by the United States government. have you heard of (DARPA)? ARPANET was the first operational packet switching network of sets that came to compose the global internet....

  • @9223342 that was not the world wide web, and strictly speaking the internet was around in Victorian era in britain with phones of course

  • toppaz79...Charles Babbage ? (first fully programmabale MECHANICAL computer) Alan Turing ? (is the father of computer SCIENCE).

  • I wish a program would open up here in my town so that I can practice SOP's for future references and shit. I think learning SOP's would be amazing for future knowledge just in case if the world goes to shit.

  • these boys have got fucking slick drills.

  • Rubberbandits7........Really ? lol....The Atanassoff-Berry Compuer was the first ELECTRONIC computing device conceived in 1937 and successfully tested in 1942 and from that came the ENIAC a u.s army project........so go back to the mirror........(.concern.?..lol )...you fucken..ass clown.

  • Looks easy enough

  • Brigadier is a posh twat

  • @richieh1980 then u no nothing about the army

  • @maxi9291 Don't tell me I know nothing about the Army son. You have no idea

  • @richieh1980 calling a brigadier a posh twat is fucking ignorant s fuck you should know tht most officers are middle classed and so have a 'posh' accent. I have this accent and am im gooing to sandhurst you bellend. Get educated.

  • @maxi9291 Sandhurst? If I find out who you are you can put a stopper on that Sandhurst education trip. I promise you

  • @richieh1980 If you are serving, I'm embarrassed.

  • @TheRationalRant I am British but would not be so downtrodden to serve in such a crude military. I am a French Foreign Legionnaire and all the better for it. Embarrassed?? the only embarrassment here is our Government and the way our military is

  • @richieh1980

fuck up ...british military is the best in the world dickhead fuck the french the only reason you joined the legionaire is because the brits wouldnt let you in so you took it bad and bad mouth the brtis ...fucking tosser

  • @sarahooxo Wrong again shit for brains. The British Army are a cause for no cause. I wouldn't be so low as to swear my allegiance to a woman, ie: The Queen who rips off the taxpayers by living in comfort and scrounges off the state that we pay for. So shut the fuck up you scag mouth fuck wit

  • @richieh1980

naaa im not wrong your just in denial ....the legionaires are good but the brits are the best trained in the world ....well there is going to be a king when the queen passes away ...so what will your excuse be then?

  • @sarahooxo No excuse. I can't stand and hate the Royals so I have no business in being one of their muppets defending their failning so called country called Great Britain. Not so great anymore but as long as they are living in luxury and eeryyone else is living off of scraps then you must think it is ok. As I said I would never swear allegiance to any Royal no matter who they are. And I never compared the Legion to the British Army so where you got that from I don't know???

  • @richieh1980

i know the british army are the best trained in the world ;)

  • @sarahooxo PS: How old are you?

  • @richieh1980

18 and joining royal irish in a week

  • Comment removed

  • jackF15..lol....Good cunt......and for Rubberbandits7......No one gives a fuck what you hate ass clown........America is why you have the computer, internet and youtube ........so if anyone going to fuck off ...it will be you.

  • @9223342 The first computer was made by a British lad called Charles Babbage. Also, i'm pretty sure i'm not a clown, just checked in the mirror. Thanks for the concern though

  • @9223342 Actually...I think Tim Berners Lee is credited with inventing the World Wide Web. Who invented the computer is a tricky one... but 2 brits can claim it. Charles Babbage (for the idea) and Alan Turing, for his computer which I think broke the Nazi codes.

  • @toppaz79 Let me put my history classes to test.

Alan Turing made a computer called the Collosus, which broke the Nazi code that was called Enigma right?

  • @toppaz79 It was actually Alen Turing's Idea and Charles Babbage designed and built it.

  • @toppaz79 First electronic computer (Colossus) created during WW2 by cockney Tommy Flowers.

  • @toppaz79 Nah it didn't break the Nazi Enigma Code. They only broke it when Allied soldiers captured an Enigma Code decoder.

  • @TheMrTantalum You will find that the codes changed regularly and had to be constantly rebroken by humans initially then by the computer that they developed..

  • what is a good age to apply

  • I hate Americans who think they're better than the rest. You shouldn't of watched the video if you were going to complain, fuck off back to your 101st shit if you dont like it.

  • @Rubberbandits7 well said

  • irelandor...LOL Are you smoking crack !!! look up this units history and then look up 101st and 82nd airbourne history.......i swear all the other english speaking countrys think they came up with this shit lol i see alot of american wepons in all these videos......i need to look up halo...lalo ....air assult....locking out of nuculer subs....combat air controlers and many other wepon systems that special units have that makes them elite........i bet america was the ones that did it first.

  • @9223342 Your vocabulary astonishes me!

  • i m just glad their on ourside . Its all changed but it was a feeder for the worlds best special forces unit in the world bar none . All base their training on the SAS.

  • Can you make this availbe on mobile?

  • Does someone know if they give you like a years training for the parachute training? Cause I want to join the SAS later, and I heard that you'll do a parachute training and Im scared of hights so Im wondering if they like give you enough time to get used it it...anyone know some info about that stuff??????

  • @emogamer96 if you join the parachute regiment, you will do ariel assault courses that are designed to adjust you to heights, however you will only get a chance to complete the course once, if you hesitate more than once, they will fail you. the same goes for the acutal jumps, if you hesitate at the door, you will fail. if you think you will falter at the moment of truth, then it is not worth putting yourself through pure hell to get there. if you do choose to do it though, best of luck!

  • @Alroight Well, lets just hope that I wont fail, I'v still got 3 years to train myself not to be scared of the hights, I will do anything to achieve jumping out of a plane and using a parachute. So I need all the luck and training ofcourse. Thanks mate!

  • @emogamer96

There is the SAS, and there is also, i think, a naval version when i last checked it out at the British Army website. (For each regiment, there is a phone number, if you need more information on them.)

The SAS do not endorse, or happily accept anything saying about anything on the SAS training program.

Also, ild like to say, that when jumping from heights, a parachute is one of the most re-assuring things available. If you want to get good w/ heights, Visit the CN tower in Toronto.

  • @TMPRDX Yeah there is a naval version, but they dont really mention about it. And I have seen some SAS training, and set-up about it. The ''what-to-know and how-to-do'' of SAS training. And I do understand that the parachute is the most re-assuring thing, jus tmy problem is the hights, which..hopefully in time, will pass away. I'll check out the CN tower in Toronto, when I've got some more money, but I think I'll first go with the Eiffel Tower. Its closer. But thanks for the tips :)

  • @emogamer96 Eiffel tower is good, but if you go to the CN tower, if you've seen pictures, theres a bulge like, near the top?

On that bit, the floor is made of like, Elephant glass, so its really thick, and you know you wont fall, but you can see right through it, and it is polished, like dayly, so you can see all the way down, to the floor, and when you're standing on it, it can be quite scary... one way to get rid of your fear of heights, is to lie down, face first on it, check it out with

  • @TMPRDX Ok I'll check if I can go to Canada, Toronto, CN tower once.. and I'll do it with the glass with, its good to know that I wont fall through it. I hope I get rid of my fear, I've seen alot of films about parachuting and to come to facts about what will and can happen.

  • @emogamer96 Check it out with your parents some time.

Plus, Canada is an amazing place to go in the winter, it allways snows, and they love to put all their xmas decor up in december, so try getting down their in december, its worth it,

    maybe...

Toronto- December 2012 (Say to your parents it can be one of your xmas presents.. =P)

    France- July 2012?

    Idk, maybe something like that...

Enjoy man, and i hope you get over your fear. =)

  • @TMPRDX and that Xmas presents look really funny to ask for, so thanks for the great Idea and its really nice to know that I've got some surport in my fear :) so thank you VERY much!! and PS: Im part Canadian, so hopefully I'll get rid of my fear quickly enough :P

  • @emogamer96 I only visit it because i have family around toronto...

theres also an absolutely amazing helicopter ride over niagra falls if you can get there (if you ever visit toronto, i think its like... idk, somewhere around an hour? but niagra falls is worth it, and you get an absolutely awesome like.. store there)

I think if you just like, explore some things, then you'll get over it, if you wanna start small, check out the london eye.

Takes you mid-high, and gives you a good view.

  • my father in law was one of the oringinal pathfinders in ww2 and is still going strong at 89

  • are they like the SAS?

  • I want to join the army, I'm 15 and i believe that I'm cut out for this shit

  • @LThomaaas You're not "cut out" for the army. Anyone can join the army. Join a different branch, just saying.

  • @Sampson712 lol ikr, stupid high school kids think they can do anything.

  • @Sampson712 You don't know me so......

  • @LThomaaas I'm not dissing you man, I'm just saying. No one is "cut out" for any branch really. I suppose you could consider yourself cut out for a specific MOS, but that doesn't mean any specific branch.

  • @Sampson712 I need to go more into depth about this

  • what is the song used for the HALO jump?

  • @MrHaahz disturbed down with the sickness

  • Hardly surprising these are the sort of lads that are usually the ones to make it into the SAS. These men are made of tougher stuff.

  • @SR0Penne0Brillo Alway's said the MILAN way outperformed the pissant DRAGON/TOW....great vid!

  • @WN8CQB Hmm?

  • @SR0Penne0Brillo The best parà troop it's Folgore Brigade Airborne from Italy. They don'tlike to joke at all....

  • @Ubaldo421 During 2nd W.W. Folgore Brigade in El Alamain battle they by them self did stop the entairy British 8th Army commanded by general Bernard Law Montgomery.Churchill wrote something about it in his war memory....

  • @Ubaldo421 Opinion. I'm Half Italian myself and so I'm inclined to believe you but at the same time I've been raised in England. So I'm afraid these are teh guys I'm backing as it's their Army and hopefully the parachute regiment that I'm joining (unless it's disbanded by the time I get there...). However about the joking thing; I'm sure these guys don't either when it comes to getting on with the job.

  • @SR0Penne0Brillo Thank you my friend.Anyway I told (wrote) you the truth. Italian paratrooper fo Folgore Brgade (Brigata Folgore) has a gloroius history. The are really the best of the best.Expecially Folgore Carabinierei Battaglione Tuscania. As you are half italian you'd have to be proud about it.Ofgcourse british parà are very good too.

  • @Ubaldo421 Well I'll certainly have to look more into it, thank you for telling me about them :).

  • หรอย คาด

  • Cheers! to WO Andy Newell from "Doc" Burklund, LTC, USA (Ret)

  • How come the Paras are training with AR15's in some of the clips?

  • @DemonicWeapons That's what they use? :)

  • @joevidya

    No, they use C8's.

  • @DemonicWeapons Why is every United States Marine trained first as an infantryman?

  • @Sampson712 its part of their mission, back in the day even the candle makers were sometimes called to fight, im a pilot but i had to be trained as infantry officer first

  • @TheRidersChoice Thanks for the lengthy explanation on an entirely rhetorical question :P I was just proving a point to the other guy.

  • @Sampson712 it also makes everybody else appreciate what its like to be in infantry, that why marine pilots are famous for CLOSE air support

  • @DemonicWeapons

    It isn't an AR15, it's a Canadian C8.

  • AIRBORNE from an old paratrooper. I have jumped with SAS and ASAS--some great soldiers! The music you added really should be wrapped tightly in a weighted bag and sent to visit Bin Laden but the video is really great.

  • cool video

  • As for british officers, the germans described the british army as lions being led by donkeys.Having been there, its still true. The officer core is still class riden.better men are kept from the job because they don`t have the right backgrounds. Our troops are dying because of poor decision making.

  • It was actually german officers ,british soldiers and american equipment!

  • Anybody who calls themselves elite are normally complete tw*ts!

  • Great video; awful soundtrack.

  • they look like real bad asses

  • U.S Army Rangers Lead The Way.

  • I'm starting my process for joining the Paras in december, anyone got any tips that might help?

  • @TheArmySheep Yes mate, hill sprints! find a steep enough hill sprint up it, then jog back down. Do atleast 10 in the middle of a run that will get your fitness up quick. Also google fartleck training. Got prac on the 8th november and then depot on 13th november. Best of luck with it, work hard and you will get there forget the pain !

  • @Tbutlerboy Cheers mate, can't wait tbh, and good luck to you man!

  • @Tbutlerboy Cheers man

  • @TheArmySheep too right.train hard and try to be a Greyman.Dont stand out.First I think you will say Why the hell did i join.keep at it,work hard and try to stay injury free.I was a Para in the 60s.Good luck to you.

  • first soong?

  • Puts the 101st and 82nd Airbourne to shame!

  • "If I had Canadian Soldiers, British Officers, and American Technology I would rule the world" - Winston Churchill

  • @pxdfover I believe that's just another version of Rommel's 'If I had Australian Soldiers, British NCO's and German Officers etc etc '

  • @pxdfover heh...yeah and a big NOSE jew bag to finance the war and call it war on terrorism. canadians,british,americans...they all work togethor

  • @pxdfover Churchill was a bi polar warmongering drunk

  • @alanbstard4 but he was a great leader

  • @pxdfover lol you realize that the americans buy alot of the technology from other countries right?

  • @pxdfover he forgot to add........a non british prime minister. Churchhill was a dead loss in parliment.

  • @pxdfover then his banking puppet-master would rule even harder

  • why are british troops using M4's :S?

  • @locky828 because pathfinders are able to use all ordinance, not just the standard sa80 combat rifle

  • @FullVolumesOnly ahh right pal thanks for the info:)

  • @locky828 The standard british assult rifle is the SA80, but elite and special forces have a wider variety of weapons, it just depends on the operation.

  • @locky828 because the sa80 is a shit and cheap weapon with only 300yards accurate range.

same reason SF dont use it.

  • @locky828 , well one. its not an m4 its a c8 carbine. which are better. us and uk s.f. also use the c8. and 2 there basically s.f. recon forces so they get to pick there own kit. and they use the c8 as they are lighter and have a higher rate of fire i think. they are lighter though. but they do have less range than the sa80 a2 which they can also use

  • @locky828 The Pathfinders have a choice of what weapons they want to use for whatever operation they are on. They are also trained (like many of the British Forces elite units) to use pretty much every weapon in the world, so a 'western' weapon like an M4 Carbine is probably one of the top weapons they'd train to use.

  • @locky828 Technically its a Diemaco/Colt Canada C7 or C8 rifles. I have no idea why but its a better tool than the SA80.

  • @Tobriep81 Believe the british name for it is L119A1 SFW.

  • damn....... the amount of ammo they carry on ready ...wonder hom much more they carry in those sacks..........

  • Why were Para's using an AR15 platform rifle in the first few minutes? I thought it was all about the SA80 and the sharpshooter for us?

  • @DemonicWeapons

    AR-15's are very versatile

  • @USN1985dos Very true. Just can't get my head around us Brits using them?! lol

  • mmm the music sound like from the vietnam era.

  • British have the best military ever.

  • @Browno86InnitBlud

Actually in a recent appraisal ordered by the British government, an analysis showed that the British military has resigned itself to be tied for second place among most other European nations.

  • @USN1985dos Thats probably because 80% of British laws are now governed from Brussels.... They couldnt beat us in war, so they did it economically by stealth as you will soon see.

    Thanks

  • Military + Rolling Stones = WARGASM!!!!

  • Its an excellent choice for a firearm .

  • @reddevilparatrooper Seal team 6 is a research and development Group. You maybe already a Seal. They may ask you to join but the course is well above what the normal Seals do.it was guys fro ST6 that slotted that prick Bin Laden in May.Hooyah.

  • the song?

  • this is where i hope to be in 5yrs time, time to join the paras :)

  • Wow very nice ! They use M-4s instead of the L85A1s ! Good choice !

  • @reddevilparatrooper It's not an M4. It's a Diameco (now-renamed Colt Canada) C8 AR.

  • @reddevilparatrooper The reason they use the M4 over the L85A1/2 is because they are much lighter.

The L85A2 is much more accurate than the M4.

  • @killerclown789 My M-4 I had in Iraq had an ACOG T31A,Grip pod,TLR2 Battle Light,PAC4 IR laser, and a PVS 14 adapter. It was a half pound heavier than the L85A1.It was heavy on combat patrol especially in August when it got very hot.All that equipment made alot of difference at night and beyond 400 meters on open ground in southern Iraq.

  • He speaks so well.

  • I'm the 70000 To view it! :D

  • Hey stupid, go Fuck your whore mom.

  • @techlogi8 Who gives a shit how they look as long as they can project metal at the enemy!

  • wher can i find a tent like that? 1:40

  • im going grenadiers but ive always wanted to do the p company course which i know you can go for but could i then transfer to the pathfinders?

  • @euan1jones No, you could only transfer to the paras. You would have to do selection for the pathfinders.

  • @euan1jones The Pathfinder selection course is open to all Capbadges, as far as I'm aware. You remain badged Grenadier but would wear the Maroon Beret, and parachute training would obviously come through your Pathfinder Continuation stuff.

  • @euan1jones Yes you can know someone that has done it but better to be in one of the PARA units or Support units

  • literally one of the best army related videos ive seen especially from air skills onwards

  • It's vids like this that make me miss the army so much. Massive respect, guys.

  • @techlogi8 You havent touched either of them so you shouldn't comment on things just because you have been playing COD/BF!

  • what is COD ? - did you watch video

  • @techlogi8 Yeah because looks are what makes a weapon effective, go back to COD.

  • I was a pathfinder in 1982 - with 90bl packs and amo!--fore 5 years with 58 jumps--all over tho world-if you were ther you how it is???
