  • While my father prayed earnestly to god To protect commerce, I would offer up... Secretly... The proudest prayer a boy could think of. Lord, make me a great composer. Let me celebrate your glory Through music And be celebrated myself. Make me famous through the world, dear god. Make me immortal. After I die, Let people speak my name forever With love for what I wrote. In return, I will give you my chastity And my industry... My deepest humility, Every hour of my life. Amen.

  • The truth comes out. Arpeggio1358 IS Serenaluce. You can tell by the... well, you can tell.

  • @MrHbc3 You, old fart, it's not enough to you too to spread lies on YT. What truth comes out? PROVE it too that arpeggio IS Serenaluce! PROVE! Welcome to "PJ's troll club" with their cheer leaders like CaraPhilos and JaRoWie and listen to more lies they will make up! Bravissimo to you! Congratulations.

  • @serenaluce Things are looking up for you serenaluce. You have the good taste to be insulted by having been mistaken for Arpeggio1358. Prost!

  • @MrHbc3 Caro,of course,if you have nothing better to do in your old life just to rave on YT without any proof that somewhat "truth" comes out because somewhat anonymous brainwashed user CaraPhilos from "PJ's troll club" spreads lies about everybody whom dares criticize her baby PJ that it's the same person with multiple accounts... go ahead. But actually, it's YT. You can't attach police report with DNA analysis and finger prints. So how can you prove ANY truth?!People only exchange OPINIONS here!

  • Well, well, each of us can indeed mark the trolling of the multiple troll "Serenaluce" as SPAM or thumb down, and otherwise ignore it. You just feed a troll by anwering to their inane rantings.

  • @CaraPhilos Cara, you are so persistent in your lies. PROVE then that serenaluce and arpeggio are the same person! I'm waiting. You have nothing better to do in your miserable boring life than to spread lies on YT? Do you know anything about freedom of expression? There's no artist in the world whom absolutely EVERYBODY loves. There's no such thing as "Everybody loves PJ". Mind that neither arpeggio or me ever appealed to anybody to vote against PJ. Really brainwashed trolls are people like YOU!

  • sssilence.......leave your emotions free ... mind at home

  • "A better singing partner", really !! And who would that be ?

You want the name of a really FASHIONABLE singer : try Justin Bieber.

As for Jarousski, that's not the word I would have chosen : "good", even "excellent" would be more appropriate. I never ceased to be amazed by the way some people can dismiss someone just like that !

Oh, and by the way, I don't think Véronique Gens needs to sing with him for getting promotion.

And if she was after that, she would have sing with Natalie Dessay.

  • @serenaluce

I understand your point, but I don't understand why you are talking here about A Bocelli when I was talking about Jarousski. The only contertenor I can think of who was kind of a "pop singer" was Klaus Nomi, and thanks to him, when I was a teenager I discovered Purcell, contertenors voices and a whole kind of classical music I didn't think I could like. There's no bad way for discovering good music, and if Bocelli can do the same for other people, that's fine with me !

  • @19Edurne I don't despise PJ. You just don't understand my point. Nothing bad with discovering classical treasures first in pop singers' interpretations and having a desire to discover what other interpretations can be and compare. But the problem is that pop singers and their promoters should be HONEST and present it as "classics in pop interpretations". PJ is clearly a POP singer.Just singing classical stuff DOESN'T make Nomi opera CT, as Bocelli isn't a TENOR.But people are just brainwashed..

  • @serenaluce

If you consider Jaroussky as a pop singer, then it's hopeless ! I'm really wondering on wich criteria you base your judgment. And by the way, "tenor" or "counter tenor" has to do with the range of one's voice, and "pop", "jazz" or "classical" with the way one chooses to use this voice. I'm still waiting for you to give me a clear explanation of what is pop in PJ's way of singing. For me, I just ear a classical trained singer singing classical music in a classical way.

  • @19Edurne

And I don't consider Bocelli to be an opera singer, but I consider him to have a tenor voice.

  • @19Edurne Exactly. What's hopeless here for you?I said that PJ is the same pop, a virus in CT world as Brightman for opera sopranos as she is a POP soprano, Bocelli, Baskov for tenors as they are POP tenors.Bocelli recorded in operas like Carmen with true opera singers to sell it better.Baroque is first of all about moving the heart and showing wide range of human emotions, not only singing in small untrained falsetto on HIGH notes.Real CTs have all 3 well-developed registers, not FLAT voice likePJ

  • @serenaluce

You say you don't despise him but call him a "virus", with a "flat (!?)" "untrained" falsetto.

Well, I really don't know how to namel it but despise !

Just because you think his voice is "flat"(compared to what ?) doesn't make him a pop singer, and he certainly isn't untrained ! I get that you're "a huge fan" of Spano (yes, I had a look at your chanel) but that's not a reason for disrespect. Fortunately, each singer has a different voice, otherwise music would be really boring.

  • @serenaluce

I "poopoo" on nobody ! Did I ever say I don't like like Spano ? In fact I quite like his voice, but I had never heard of him before. But unlike you, I will never say I'm a FAN, of ANYONE ! Even people I like a lot, because FAN means fanatic, and fanatism leads to a lot of things, and generally bad ones.

I'm still waiting the clear explanation for why you qualify PJ a "pop commercial" singer by the way. I might be dumb because I just don't get it.

  • @serenaluce

Well, of course he sings only high notes ! He sings as a counter tenor for god's sake ! Not a tenor or a baritone (although he can sing baritone for fun sometimes : actually, he and Andreas Scholl are the only 2 CT I ever heard sing also in a baritone register.)

And I'm sorry, but his voice and "répertoire" choices don't sound pop nor commercial to me, unless you think Monteverdi or some obscure Renaissance composers are a sure bet for commercial success.

  • @serenaluce

Sorry but I do make the difference between pop singing and classical singing, contrary to what you think. But we're going to stop there because it's useless and we clearly don't speak about the same thing. I make a difference between the technique and the intrinsic quality of a voice. There are just things training and technique can't change in a voice, and that's what make them unique. If you think his voice is flat, fine. But stop saying he's untrained !

  • @serenaluce Happy new year to you to ! But I still think it's useless if you're mistaking the quality of the voice with the training.

And if you want to hear a really untrained singer, search for Florence Foster Jenkins if you don't know her yet : If you're in for a big laugh, believe me you won't be disappointed ! My gift for the new year !

  • @serenaluce

Try to be precise with words : Foster Jenkins is a PARODY not a PARODIST. She would be a parodIST if she had sang that bad on purpose, but she did that seriously believing she was a singer, thus making of herself the parodY of an opera singer.

Since we don't give the same meaning to words, I don't see the point in continuing this exchange any further.

    Have a nice year !

  • @19Edurne Hey, I discovered Chopin via Liberace many decades ago. I now like his personal appearance, comedic style better than just his audio.. but even that had a certain style.

  • @serenaluce

But my point was that I really don't understand why you despise Jarousski that much, treating him a "pop singer" when he clearly isn't. I can admit you don't like his voice, after all, I don't like Caballé's voice (I always have the impression she's on the verge of being off key, can't help it) but I would never say she's a bad singer.

  • @19Edurne Actually Natalie and she seem to be good friends and one of the Duets on a CD by Emmanuelle Haim is with the two of them. The Virgin (EMI) promotional video (Handel, Arcadian Duets) on YT captures some of the interaction between them. Guess who is the more dignified. I like them both a lot.

  • We must recall that in the catholic tradition of Pergolesi times, women were strictly forbidden to sing in the churches. So this Stabat Mater as all the other catholic hymns were performed originaly by two Castratos (counter tenor) which is currently never the case today.

  • @frenchiecocorico1 sorry but there is a very important difference between castratos and counter tenors.. bering a counter tenor myself I know that I've still got my balls.. Castratos however had to give them up to keep their high voices.. There is also a huge difference in tone and warmth in their voices..

  • @tobiassegura Yes, you're absolutely right and I know it well for a long time. Actually, there is no real castrato singer anymore. They have been replaced by counter tenors and fortunately all of them have balls.

I just remenbered that in the catholic tradition of Pergolesi times, women were forbidden to sing in churches and only male singers were allowed to do. Sopranos were either children or Castratos. So, today counter tenors would have to sing the Castratos part instead of women

  • So much crankiness always on early and classical music videos. Something that some early and classical fans don't like, what they consider to be pop-like, is sliding between notes (portamento).

  • Wahou... ça donne envi d'être contre-ténor.

  • I saw Jaroussky in London, singing with Andreas Scholl. He wasn't amplified and he had no trouble filling the auditorium with that wonderful voice.

  • oh, my sweet Philippe with Maestro Spinosi again...

  • @ramirogorriti how many seconds did she have to begin applauding before the video quit?

  • These comments are confusing to me. My first encounter with Jaroussky was in Salle Pleyel in Giulio Cesare with Cecilia Bartoli. He was fabulous and only one of several countertenors in the show. He was as loud as any of those other guys. I also noticed nothing "pop" about his performance. So I guess I don't get it.

  • ps: i'm fond of Jarroussky, when he sings you have the impression that it's very natural, easy for him. It's very sweet.

  • I've seen PJ in live in " il sant alessio" , it was beautiful. And his voice wasn't amplified. He doesn't need it.But Veronique Gens and Jarroussky ' voices don't fit together i think, that's why this version of stabat mater isn't very good.

  • @TheConsolamentum And how can you actually know that PJ's voice wasn't amplified? Can you prove itÉ Did you check him as at the airport using metal detector and found nothing? I have this whole DVD Sant Alessio but itès fantastic because of Cencic, Lemos , Sabata, Guilllon and other participation in it, and not because of this pop falsettist PJ! But surprisingly even PJ is not too bad there as itès exactly in the image of that freaking ÈsaintÈ Alessio to be empty and not manly. But he is not CT!

  • I cannot understand how anyone could respond to such sublime singing. However, looking at the bored expressions of some of the audience in this video one might wonder what on earth they are doing there! Jaroussky is magical no doubt about it -who can disagree?

  • Once again, Jaroussky cannot sing without a microphone. I've never seen him without one except in one live opera excerpt...and there it was obvious that he was amplified. The microphone was hidden somewhere...somewhere on his person probably.

  • @arpeggio1358 Absolutely, if ALL people had ears like you they could HEAR that PJ is just AMPLIFIED to create an ILLUSION that he actually sings almost as LOUD as Gens but it's impossible taking into consideration his superficial pop manner and just "touching the surface". Gens is a real classically trained opera singer, and if PJ didn't use a hidden microphone she would just blow him away with her strong voice. Love live sound technicians who can present any POP FALSETTIST as a true CT! LOL

  • @serenaluce I'm afraid that people will still continue to idolize Jaroussky and buy his recordings, unaware that he is just a pop falsettist. It's a shame that someone of Gens's high calibre is singing with Jaroussky. But then, Pavarotti sang with all sorts of pop performers. At least those appearances were in his Pavarotti and Friends concerts that were intended only for pop performers.

  • @arpeggio1358 Yeah, it's really a shame that such a wonderful soprano with a beautiful deep voice and splended technique as Gens has to sing with a promoted pop falsettist PJ instead of real CTs who are not that few nowadays like Cencic, Scholl, Lemos, Taylor, White, Spanos, Mena, Guillon, actually really enough, it's to name just a few who have strong voices with proper technique and don't need any TRICKS to emplify them to match her level.Pavarotti in any event was still a TRUE opera singer:-)

  • @arpeggio1358 the microphone was hidden in a fake teeth, i already saw that in a James Bond movie. The teeth is fake, Jarrousky is fake, all his concerts in every theatres are fake (you've been in those theatres haven't you ?) and all his international success is fake. They should have done this TV show without any microphone, then we would have heared the truth :-D :-D :-D

It's also PJ that made the fake video of 9/11 with fake planes, praise the conspiracy theory...

  • @poymanjoe Real oepra singers never use mics. PJ can't sing without a mic. The amplification is obvious to anyone with an ear for music. This is no conspiracy theory. BTW, which of your Bobby McFerrin or Tears for Fears videos gives you your knowledge of opera and correct singing technique?

  • @arpeggio1358 For me, power is not a major quality for singing. Emotion, musicality are more important, maybe like many people who like PJ. I don't feel like requiring a diploma of any kind to enjoy music, all kinds of musics, without dogmatism or elitism. I can feel so depressed listening to Chostakovitch, but i can't play piano. Wagner is not PJ's favourite music, he often sings in churches with small baroque ochestras, he seldom has to overflow a choir of 40 or more singers. Enjoy music.

  • @poymanjoe But he says he's an opera singer, and opera singers must use correct technique and sing without mics. One can't have musicality without technique. Nobody needs a diploma to enjoy music though. My preference is for real opera singers rather than those like PJ who sing in a pop style and belong in the popera (pop opera) category.

  • @arpeggio1358 I hate to tell you this, Arpeggio, but any time you hear a recording of an opera singer... a microphone or some sort was used. Otherwise.. No Recording!!! By the way, the cameo look at Natalie Dessay sitting at that table was fun.

  • @MrHbc3 Hate to tell you, but Jaroussky sings withn obvious mic even when he's singing live...like here. Also, take a look on YT at Bocelli trying to sing a recital at the Met. Someone recorded him with a hidden camera in the audience. He's obviously not amplified and he can hardly be heard. Neither PJ or AB are opera singers, by the way.

  • @arpeggio1358 I am assuming that all of the singing with microphone is not recorded, that you were there in person and have good reason to be sure that it was not being recorded for any purpose. You and serenaluce post over, and over, and over again on this same thread insulting Jaroussky and pushing your Cencic etc. Surely no one is paying you for this crazy drivel, but what an obsession... and what mean spiritedness and poor manners.

  • @MrHbc3 Look here. I'm not pushing anyone. I simply think that Jaroussky sings in a pop style. I'm hardly obsessed with anyone. CVencic isn't my favorite countertenor. You are the mean spirited one who has poor manners. I have blocked you. Go away.

  • @MrHbc3 Who would speak about "obsession" you, old fart ,who put the "same thread"of obsession on every video by your precious Mary Ellen Nesi how great she is in pants roles that she only shows off her big boobies and revealing clothes while singing as a sexy mature WOMAN pretending that she is a MAN! LOL Who is pushing any Cencic if she descredits herself with her own manner of dressing to make men drool over her APPEARANCE as SEX SELLS! Who discredits PJ if not he HIMSELF with his POP MANNER!

  • @MrHbc3 I treated you with respect discussing what opera should be IMO,exchanging OPINIONS on YT but you are a mean old creature spreading lies about me all over YT. Prove that I hate PJ or the same Andrea Bocelli! It's all LIBEL! I don't insult anybody as a PERSON. Artists are public figures and supposed to be JUDGED by their LISTENERS to live by performances and recordings! Saying that Bocelli is a great POP SINGER but no opera singer as he has no operatic technique isn't INSULT!So is PJ,idiot

  • @MrHbc3 By the way,Cencic like arpeggio's isn't "my" Cencic either. I don't push anybody. I'm not his wife, lover, relative or an agent! I'm just a FAN!Prove that I have something to do with Cencic or anybody else and that I deliberately degrade PJ or YOUR Nesi as YOU are just obsessed with her that you even comment all the time on her dress when nobody else cares about her "to push" ANYBODY of my favourites!Prove it! You are so good at imagining stuff and telling the others to see a doctor! Now!

  • @MrHbc3 This is so funny, or would be if it weren't borderline psycho!! Evry three or four months I open a new Jaroussky video and find the same poison coming from Serenaluce; oxymoronic screenname if I ever saw one, since there is nothing serene or luminous about her comments. I hadn't come across arpeggio so far, but looks like a stalker from hell just as Serenaluce. Ladies, or whatever the hell you are, if you don't like Jarousski, why don't you get a life and keep away from him?

  • @sobelou I just saw most of Pergolesi's Stabat Mater with a good soprano and Vivica Genaux On YT. It was fantastic! Much better than this one. It was, however, a big production compared to this one. It also got a fabulous reception from the audience who finally compelled an encore after numerous leavings and returnings by the conductor and the singers. One difference seemed to be that the other that one was better rehearsed. Another was that the soprano and Vivica were much better balanced.

  • @sobelou Caro amico, it would be so funny what you write here if it weren't borderline psycho!!! Also blunt SLANDER, LIBEL doesn't do you any credit! Philippe Jaroussky has on YT about 2 320 videos if you put his name in "search". How many videos have I commented? Prove it and send me links or better copy ALL my comments on EVERY PJ's video, even the NEW ones at least for the last FOUR moths that you watch this POP singer PJ and post it here!Saying that he is a POP singer is POISON, STALKER? LOL

  • @serenaluce Yikes!! Why do you have to yell? Be serene, Serena!!. I don't have a clue of how many videos PJ has on You Tube, but almost every time I stumble upon one, there you are, intensely personal (yes, personal, several times you have made derogatory comments about his manhood). If you despise him so, or have such low artistic view of him, why do you waste your time on him?

  • @sobelou Come on.Who yells here? The only 2 people who make some noise here are wonderful Gens and pop falsettis PJ -which is such a pity as she deserves a better singing partner from true opera world! But to have a better chance of promotion for themselves as in any profession good singers have to work with those who are just FASHIONABLE for the moment and please"the right people".Don't be so naive.Actually I replied to Hbc here who seemed to be understanding in PMs and so mean in open comments

  • @MrHbc3 I know that recordings have to have mics, but Jaroussky uses an obvious mic ALL THE TIME. He is always amplified. Real opera singers don't use mics for live opera performances or recitals, except rarely in large outdoor venues with poor acoustics. My main objection to PJ is that he sings in a pop style and is really a pop opera singer, not a real opera singer.

  • Great!!!! Is always best when used a countertenor! ....Wish I could sing like this.....

  • Great!!!! Is always best when used a countertenor! ....Wish I could sing like this....

  • colora40 I got my opening night whith music of Pergolese. He past away too early,

otherwise we had have more beautifull music. This is so beautifull,I love Jaroussky.

  • excellent performance. I would suggest also listening to Andreas Scholl and Barbara Bonnie, they're interpretation is also excellent, clear cut and precise.

  • @wonderlasting

It's featured quite importantly in Amadeus. This might be why you feel that.

  • @wonderlasting This doesn't sound like Mozart at all!

  • pergolesI, please.

I share the opinion that this is not Pergolesi´s Stabat Mater

  • absolutely wonderful!!! I Almost cried!!!

  • Merveilleux......

  • The people who're sitting in those programs seem always so uninterested.. It's like they don't 'hear' the beauty!

  • @CornillieJunior You are right, they seem to be too busy with their own coolness to enjoy the performance (or they are all stoned, I guess we will never know....)

  • Simplemente extraordinario, maravilloso, exelso...apoteotico!

  • Simplemente extraordinario, maravilloso, exelso...apoteotico!

  • Try Sphera AntiQva... you will love them

  • Que c'est bien chanté! - Quelle belle interprétation! - Continuez1 - C'est formidable!

  • This is the best and most dramatic Stabat Mater I have heard.

    Many stars for that!

  • orribile

  • what's wrong with Veronique Gens ? i don't get you, to me she's a great artist and she's sober (not a cold fish, come on...)

  • Gens is cold like a fish , jaroussky so so and conductor ridiculous !!!

  • yup, doesn't sound like sacred music, lost all spirituality and poignancy.

  • Quel horreur!!! C'est vraiment du mauvais....

  • me 2

  • I dont really love the soprano but jaroussky is, as ever, amazing!

  • ... This was performed on Christmas day? Inaproppriate choice on the organizer's part.

    >.>

  • I agree.. Stabat Mater performed on Christmas Day, you say?? How contradicting 0_o

  • C'est vrai, c'est vraiment bizarre....

  • This is the best I've heard this piece sung, by far. These two are amazing.<3

  • Very good ensemble..

  • Pauvre con !

  • pergolesi NOT pergolese!! :-)

  • it's pergolese in French :)

  • Thanks for this video :-)

They both are one of my favourite singers ^^

  • !!!!! Ridicola tua mamma!

Jaroussky veramente suona ridicolo!

  • D'accordo! Jaroussky e' veramente ridicolo come sempre!

  • next thing we will see will be Pérgoilaise, or something... lol

  • Just try to learn French at first, and we'll see then ! ...

'at first'= d'abord

    xx

    hi hi hi ...

  • I think the word IDIOT describes you in both languages perfectly well

    :-)

  • OK, See You Next Tuesday !

  • what's happening next Tuesday?

Am I having the pleasure to meet you in person?

    :-)

  • Hey french people! IT IS PERGOLESI... avec une 'i'...RIGHT????

    don't appropriate him

    :-)

  • Gens sounds horrible and out of style i dont dont know why people said she is magnificent

  • I don't really find that their voices blend very well. Jaroussky's is a very focussed sound, while Gens' seems rather too 'generalised operatic' by comparison.

  • I like this a lot!

    chris

  • If you like this, you will very likely be in Heaven when you hear Dorothea Röschmann and David Daniels sing this together... Lawrence Zazzo and Angharad Gruffydd Jones are also very good team, much better than these two.

  • Do you have the links I can check out. I can't easily find them on YT.

    c.

  • Magnifique Veronique Gens !

  • thanks

i was hoping to see the rest of the show.

    oh, well....

  • You can write in english, because i don't understand what you exactly want. All extracts from this french show are already post

  • Do you have the rest of the show?

I was wondering if you can post it as well...

    Thanks much....

  • I posted all aria of the show. The rest is only french discussion. It would be so long to post the show and youtube doesn't accept long video. See my videos on my youtube account. Five are extract from this show

  • @jchembel wow! your french stinks!
