Fortunately I've already answered this question so I can just copy and paste
The boost counter is incremented on four specific frames that a horizontal direction and the run button are held. By pressing run only on those exact frames, 25, 50, 70 and 85, Samus can charge the speed boost from near walking speed, and ready a shinespark where there isn't enough room to do so normally.
He is pressing down, but he gets up again so fast that you can barely see it.
So by running without sprint then pressing the run button on 25 then realese then press it on 50 then realese then 70 and so forth u can get that super short shinespark?
Ive been told a different compination of frames witch is a lot more complicated then that. I suppose mine is a lot faster but more complicated because cpadolf said it was the fastest out there so far...
Because the framerate is halved on YouTube. Samus's sprite is flickering on and off each frame, but at 30 fps you're only seeing the frames where the sprite is "off".
The trick to walljumping is to press away from the wall THEN press jump, if you press both at the same time it usually doesn't work. If you still can't make it then just go down to Norfair and get the High Jump Boots first, then you can just jump up there normally.
Haha, well good luck! I did learn how to approximate it in real-time by tapping the dash button at certain points in the running animation, because I needed it for some items in the SM Impossible hack. Doing it with frame precision just isn't going to happen without tools though :P

The two should never even be compared if you ask me. TASes aren't meant to show off skill, they're more like an abstract art form. Although, for a game as complex as SM, it does take some degree of talent as well as complete knowledge of the game to make a TAS as mind-bogglingly fast as this one. Still, Red Scarlet's console run remains the most impressive display of gaming skills I have ever seen.
Nah, there were a lot of tricks and techniques that were discovered between Red's run and Hotarubi's, ironically enough the majority of them were learned from TASing. The level of play is about the same, hotarubi's is just more "evolved" you could say.
ahhh I gotta say, mocking the bosses death was a pisser lol

Am I being a dumbass?

It is 25, 50, 70, 85 indeed. Also there is no faster way, you can shorten the distance, but that doesn't make it faster.

why does he disappear when he is on the elevators

tas speed runs are cool , but it's just some thing about non tas speed runs that show off a player's true skill

Red Scarlet's Super Metroid run? It's good, but Hotarubi played a lot better in his any% run.
