I wish Motley Crue would remake this song after putting it through the Motley Machine. I think it would be awesome. Only problem is, Vince Neil could never pull this song off live. :(
I was just looking at a list of top 100 country songs and Eddie Rabbit's I love a rainy night is higher than this song. Luchenbach Texas is at #72........ Yeah whoever made that list needs to buy some hearing aids cause they aren't hearing what I am.
I'm 42 now, and it's too bad I never listened to this great music until 3 years ago. I'm not a fan of new country just classic country. Waylon, Hank, Hank Jr, Merle Haggard, Willie, and Johnny Cash just to name a few. Great music!!
@22lamigra Yeah, I hear you. I am 41.5 (1970), and I will always love this song. My mother and father use to take us kids on vacation, and Texas was one of the locations.
As a child when I use to chime in, I thought Waylon was singing, "Let's go a lookin' round Texas..." lol
i love this song hell i love country music all around from hank sr TO conway twitty TO will nelson TO waylon jennings TO alabama TO hank jr,jason aldean etc

Long live Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash! Two of the four members of the Highwaymen, the greatest group to ever pioneer country music. How come my mother never liked this?!
Yeah, I am still a sissy, but every time I hear this song, it does the same thing to me ......THINK, CRY, THINK, THINK ABOUT THE PAST, THINK, CRY, for reasons I know of and reasons I don't.
@MsPandaRosa sadley i am not even close i am in Canada .............ffs not many country ladies up here or anywhere for that matter ..... luv southern belles hugs back
Call me a sissy, I get emotional hearing this song by Waylon. It brings back many, many memories, and just, it is a great produced song. Yeah,, call me a sissy, but I am 6' 4", 215, so what, men have emotions to...
What a great introduction when he hits the words Luckenbach Texas....Agreat hook and turn-around. Great voice....no one could ever re-do this as a cover song.It has that erieee erieee reverb on the vocal and keys. What a masterpiece. Rest my case. Oxon Hill Md. city hicks from the 60s and 70s, I tip my hat to you...Thank you guy's and gal's.
I hear ya bro, it sounds like Southern Rock ( and I love Linnnner Skinnner ) Spelling does not matter....If these guy's and chick's would have came out with this stuff 20 yrs. ago, they ( the radio ( would have classified it as Southern Rock no doubt!!!!
Does anyone know of those for mentioned individuals? Contact Hank at hanklovesongwriter17@yahoo.com or call 757-990-9035 ext.51 ask for Melissa, and leave a brief message. This is a private recorded asap#9 number that can not be governed. Can anyone touch base? WAYLON LIVES ON!!!!!!!!!!
Does anyone know if Lee Deal is still alive? He lived in Oxon Hill, Md. He played guitar at Mike's along with Larry Halmiton. Larry was the drummer. Is he still around? How about John Henry Deal and Thelma? Delores (Dee) McClary passed away, she was my mom, I figured I would try to reach out to friends of hers that were in the area of Oxon Hill. Diane Wilson, Brenda, Sissy, Raymond, the list goes on. Miss the times and memories will always be there. Contact: Hank ,hanklovesongwriter17@yahoo.com
Man, does this song bring back memories...I was just a kid when this song came out. I remember the jukebox at Mike's Restaurant, Sea Shell Restaurant, Oxon Hill Restaurant, M-n-M Bar, and the one down on Rt.410 on the right ( it is still there ) I do not remember the name. There were good people back in the 60s and 70s that were much older than me. My mom tended bar and waited on tables at those places. I was just a kid then. I remember all of the regular people there. Can anyone contact me..
I am a musician... great mix, great production, great song...You can not beat this song with the time and era....My hat go's off to Waylon, Willie, and the engineer/producer.........I always hear something different in that song, just like Led Zeppelin's Stairway To Heaven... No they are not the same song, but they are deep and meaningful...." ask Willie, he will tell you the same thing " The song has a sound, a peace, a character, a story, a purpose in the country music that surrounds it. HANK

@dragonzndemonz you haven't believed in God unless you've been to Texas. i don't care how great New Zealand is, Texas is the best, always has always will.
@CuntriGurl95 That's an AMAZING song! I am from Tennessee and I believe that Texas and Tennessee and Georgia are the greatest states.(though all southern states except florida are amazing)
I lived (but now I'm moving out of State) a stones throw from Willies place. I was often out in Fredericksburg where Luckenbach Texas is. Man I love the people and I am going to miss it.
Greetings from Salt Lake City..by the way, what is the ZIP code for Luckenbach ??

I lived (but now I'm moving out of State) a stones throw from Willies place. I was often out in Fredericksburg where Luckenbach Texas is. Man I love the people and I am going to miss it.
