  • What a great video! Been racking my brains for no reason. You made it so easy to map! Thank you! Great Upload!

  • @bprince9 You're welcome ;) ... in the beginning I didn't think that it would be so helpful. But it seems like many people have got those problems ^^ ... glad I was able to help you.

  • I love you.

  • @maparr07 Oh, too bad, I already have a girlfriend! ;) ... did the video help you or what do you mean?

  • @Starfool06 yeah I guess I should have been more specific. I've been looking to get my knobs on my axiom to work in override mode in reason for a long long time. This did the trick, I'm so happy. now if only my 64 bit machine could recognize my trigger finger.

  • @maparr07 Just kidding ;) ... was already sure that you didn't mean it like you wrote it :P Well in view of the trigger finger I'm sorry, I can't help you with that. I just own the axiom and even that one I can't really use at the moment... time is so rare since I decided to go to school again :( ... Maybe you should contact m-audio and ask for help, if you didn't already do that ;)

  • thanks for the video , But how do you assign the drum pads or is it the same methodusing reddrum ?

  • @Supersteps Sorry for the late answer... had a lot to do. Well yes, it's the same thing. You can use the small play-buttons on top of each drum (Mute/Solo/Play) in Redrum and assign them with the remote override to your pads. There surely already is a preset saved on the axiom that allows you to control redrum with your pads. But I don't know which number it has and how the assignment would be.

  • Thanks man!

  • Mine (61 pro) worked instantly after installing the driver. (WinXP-SP3/Reason(5)-Record(1.5) Duo Pack).

Superb! all sliders and knops are working perfect!

  • I got an axiom 49 advanced 49 key semi weighted usb midi and im trying to connect it to reason, it can't auto detect though in the preferences so how do I get it to work? I just have it plugged in via USB. I know you can manually add it but I manually added a compeltely different keyboard and it came up the same as when i manually added mine so I jsut dont think its connecting.

  • @analduct Did you ever find a solution cause I have the same problem with my Axiom? :/

  • @deimosmusicprod Yeah just plug in the usb and hit "other keyboard". Don't chose any specific models from the list.

  • @analduct Sorry I didn't answer you. Seems like the notification got lost o_O

Did you try it like told in my video? When you use WinXP it is really important to use the "Reason Remote"-driver by M-Audio and to install it in the given order. The driver also works on Vista afaik. Only on Windows 7 it seems not to be necessary to use it.

    Which Reason-Version do you use?

  • I'm having the exact same problem with mine, except mine is a MKII this is the MKI so all the controls are different. I've looked everywhere but there isn't an explanation on how to fix it for the MKII :(

  • thanks dude... that helped alot.. its that preset that was the problem..

  • @lawatinio Yeah, it was mine too at first. And I wasn't really able to find something fitting in the web. So I took my manual and read it :D ... but after solving that there was still the problem with reason, that didn't find my keyboard. And to solve this I just visited the manufacturer's homepage. (M-Audio) ;)

  • Mi sei stato di grande aiuto bel video! :D

  • I amonce again caught in a pit somewhat? Transfered my stuff 2 new computer, and now my faders and stuff work, but not the play, record buttons?

  • My problem with my m-audio 61 to reason is that the instrument sounds delayed when i press the keyboards. Any advice?

  • @leohammondb3 Well, when you are using a standard-soundcard, then I would say your latency is too high. But if you have a good soundcard it could also be possible, that your buffer is too hight. Try around a bit. But I don't think that it has something to do with your axiom...

  • Oh, yes everything works just fine, I figured

It all out when I saw the vid the 1st time. Thx for giving me help if it didn't though. ^_^ I was puzzled for the longest before I watched this vid.

  • im trying to get rid of mu keystudio 49 and get an axiom 25. any suggestions??

  • I LOVE YOU !!!!!! THANKS!!!!

  • its all good i figured it out, MY dumb ass missed a step.. good work man.

  • @northstarjbeatz Ah okay, that's good to know ;) ... I am glad that it also worked for you.

  • this didnt work for me AT ALL.

  • @northstarjbeatz I'm sorry for that. But a closer description might help to solve the problem.

  • Thank you, thank you so much. I had was able to use everything except the faders and knobs but thx 2 you i can use my keyboard the Right way!

  • @Ace2CWB Select ZONE/GROUP, hit ABCD in the group section, and then look to make sure all 4 groups (3 if on the Axiom25) are selected. Your knobs and sliders should now work. Hope that helps. See my vids if you need more details.

  • I cant get my faders and knobs to work.. I can learn the assigments with a keys, but not with the knobs and faders... Any suggestions? I did everything wrote here, but nothing hepled

  • @Janaj2: Are the drivers correctly installed? Is your keyboard set to delivery status? Does the keyboard send data when moving a knob / slider?

  • @Starfool06

Idk what is delivery status, but I can move my knobs and slider in FL studio, but not in Reason.

  • @Janaj2: Sorry for the bad description.... I meant a factory-reset ;) ... the process to get the settings back like they were when you received your keyboard. But if you can use your knobs / sliders in FL they seem to send data, so that they should work. A reset isn't necessary.

What OS do you use? (Win XP, Mac, Vista...?)

Is your keyboard recognized correctly via "Auto-find"?

Did you change the presets on the keyboard to 10 like in the video?

  • @Janaj2 That's M-Audio's fault -- bad documentation. After you select preset 10, hit ZONE/GROUP and press A B C D (or just ABC if you have the Axiom25) in the GROUP section. You should see all groups active. By default just GROUP A is selected, which means only the piano keys and drum pads send messages to Reason. I posted a video response to this one about it; look there if you have more trouble. Hope that fixes it for you.

  • Only fish make music with vista, buy a mac man

  • @mooglisxbg67000: Well, if you have about 1.500 € to give, then I would buy one. I don't know where you are from, but in this country where I live an apple is really expensive. (At least the electronic one.)

But why spend so lot of money, if a windows-pc can do the work too? That's nonsense to me.

  • @Starfool06 Install XP or Windows 7, at least, not Vista.

  • @mooglisxbg67000: You're right. Vista is no good OS, but not only for music making ;) ... it's a mistake from every view :D

But the video is kinda old. On my Desktop-PC runs Vista and XP and on my Notebook (were I mostly do music) runs Windows 7 and Linux Ubuntu.

Seems like I misunderstood your comment. Sorry ;)

  • um what do i do if i don't see preferences under edit?

  • @bensmith202: Jump out of the window :D ... no for serious: I don't know. If there is no possibility for you to get to the preferences-settings, then you maybe should ask the propellerhead-support, what only is possible, if you paid for reason. (Not meant bad. But it's not seldom that people ask what they do wrong while owning an illegal copy.)

  • YOU FUCKING RULE

  • @purehav0k1 ask ya moms if im gay

  • @MrMuhigi: Who are you talking to? I don't see any purehav0k1 here in my comments. Maybe you posted on the wrong video? May happen ;)

  • @Starfool06 nah i swear some dude insulted me for no reason lol maybe he deleted his comment idk

  • i am thinking of buyin this but not totally sure

Can this be used in fl or only with software like protools i only want to use fl

also the 8 pads in the corner can you assign them to any drum, bass kick, hi hat or even song u want?

will instruments when played on the keyboard show up in the piano roll of fl?

Can you assign the keyboard to play any instrument that is in fl?

    thanks

  • @snake786123: well it is a usual midi-controller. all the things you wrote should be possible with it. i think it just depends on fl how much you can configure.

  • how do i record say two tracks simultaneously with two different midi controllers can only get 1 track to red record

  • @warchild1976: well, if you have a program like cubase it should be possible with some tricks. you could use cubase for example as host, add two midi-lanes, choose an controller for each lane and then choose reason instruments as output. but I don't know if that helps...

  • hi i have the axiom 61 but i was wondering how i record enable and have two midi controllers going at the same time in reason 4 any help would be fantastic

  • i have a oxygen 49 and i did everything u said pretty much..but it doesnt connect to the knob idk what im doing wrong lol is it the same concept with ur keyboard as an oxygen 49

  • @DjMute1029: hm, I think you should contact the support of your keyboard-manufacturer. I don't know what to do neither.

  • @DjMute1029 Did you get the knobs working? Select all groups to make sliders and knobs work. Hit ZONE/GROUP, press ABCD, make sure you're on preset 10, and you should be good.

  • Any tips on getting a alesis quadrasynth to work with reason 2.5

  • @Arrow69hunter: maybe anyone has some tips, but I don't, sorry. I only own my axiom.

  • Holy crap, thank you!

  • ur da man

  • @MrMuhigi thx ;)

  • arr thanks man

  • worked perfectly mate glad you pointed me to the remote 7 driver everything is working perfectly now

  • u r welcome ;)

that was also the point for me to find out and it's too bad, that m-audio doesn't really lead you to that remote driver. i only knew about that driver because of the propellerhead-forums ;)

  • in addition to my former answer: it pays to own the original-version from reason ;)

  • im still having trouble with this. i can connect everything just fine. but when i want to record in reason it will not allow me to. do you know why this is?

  • Well maybe I know a solution. But to find one you have to get more precise. What do you mean with "it won't allow you"? Do you get an Error? Does it just do nothing even though you press the record-button (in reason / on the keyboard)? Does it play the music, but it doesn't record what you're playing even though you see the pressed record-button? Or something else?

  • thanks for this. my lcd screen is broken, do you know of an easy way to set it to 10? thanks again.

  • well, I think the best way would be to send your keyboard to m-audio and let it repair, because you may not only need it for changing your preset; when you want to change your zones or the velocity curve for example.

  • i just bought the axiom49 and this helped me alot, sometimes visuals are better than a manual of text... thankyou for your time in putting this together.. respect

  • no prob, you're welcome ;)

  • ok thank you i must tell you that i didint used to have this problem before

  • Well, you're welcome. But I can't read out of your answer if the problem was solved. Was my thought right, that your computer chose another soundcard?

  • @Starfool06 yh its working well again thanx

  • @JaySparkstv k, thx for letting me know ;) ... maybe I should ask propellerhead and m-audio for money for this support I am doing :D

  • one question everytime i press the keys in my keyboard for some reason theres a delay this only happens in reason ive used it with fl studio and other program buts i dnt have that problem with them

  • Well I have the same problem when my computer chooses the standard soundcard instead of my external audio-interface. If you also have more than one soundcard you should check your audio-preferences and choose the right soundcard. (Normal soundcards aren't made for producing music, so that the latency is very high.) If this solution doesn't help plz write again ;)

  • ncie vid man this really helped :)

  • thx for the comment ;)

  • How do you install this reason remote? I have the folders and files. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Well, I already sent you an e-Mail, but maybe others have the same problem, so that I post the solution here.

Go to the m-audio webpage, then click on "support", then click on "Drivers & Updates", then click on "Keyboard Series", then choose your model (Axiom 61 e.g.) and then click Windows XP. There you should find an executable Reason Remote file.

  • hey! you are the man!

    Thanx a lot!

  • no problem, you're welcome ;)

  • huge thx mate i hoped m-audio would release a driver for this :)

  • yeah they did ;) ... but you will only need it in older Windows-Versions like Windows XP.

  • You are a hero...

  • Well if you think so, thanks :D

  • f me what is up with the music to this vid the sub bass is making my jbls fart lol

  • well, there's a lot bass in it... maybe your jbls are configured with too much bass...

  • @Starfool06 lol no i no my monitors the track is just hi in 63,40,25,19,8,Hz my eq sez so ....

  • Hey just a quick question. I've got a panasonic sxkc200 keyboard. The problem is that its not in the list of compatible keyboards for the reason softwear. Does this mean I need to get a new keyboard or just some drivers? Cheers

  • @cgallery111: Well, the cause of this video was the same problem. I got my Axiom, connected it, but it wasn't recognized. I searched a bit and found out, that the manufacturer had a driver I can install, so that the keybord can be detected. Have a look for a driver on the panasonic-website or just add a standard-keyboard in reason.

  • thanks a lot man!

  • You're welcome ;)

  • hi, i was hoping you could help me, ive got a keyboard, a rather big one its a casio i think a lk-70 or hats what it says onit anyway, i want to connect it to reason 4.0 but i have no software to run it and i dont know how to connect it to reason, its a usb cable if that helps, please help i cant use reasons keyboard layout, its too inpractical. thanks.

  • At first check if the USB-Port is made for sending MIDI-Data (check your manual), cuz afaik it is thought for sending MIDI-Files from your PC to the keyboard. In this case you will have to connect your keyboard via the MIDI-Plugs on the back (if existing). But if it is also made for MIDI-Data (sending from keyboard to PC) be sure to install the drivers delivered from the manufacturer. After doing all those steps you may ask again ;)

  • I've got a question, it might be a stupid one D:

All I want to know is how to switch instruments by pressing a button on my keyboard instead of having to click the instrument on my Reason Sequencer. I am in the process of making a band and if we play shows I would much rather be able to just press a button my keyboard to go from playing like a Saw Wave, to playing another synth :)...instead of having to get on my computer and click the instrument. Please help me? :) I feel retarded :\

  • There are no stupid questions; just stupid answers ;)

The problem you describe is a thing I also wanted to know; if it is possible to switch the instruments in the sequencer. Up to now I didn't really find out. But I think the easiest way would be to add every instrument and let Reason send your Midi to each one. And then you select the Solo-Buttons in the Mixer via the Remote-Override-function.

Do you understand what I mean? ;)

    (I am german ^^)

  • Ahh I think I might understand....I'm not too smart with all of this :( do you have MSN or AIM? it would help a BUNCH :)

  • thanks man, work just fine without unistaling reason and m audio drive

  • thank you

  • Comment removed

  • THANK YOU!!

    --That's been driving me nutz!

    (nice music too)

  • thank

  • thank you!

  • if you assigne a certain knob or slider on a module say subtractor, you cannot assign it anymore in other modules like maltstrom, etc...

    how do you solve this?

  • Do you know how to get the transport and the knobs working??? I can get the faders as a result of your video but not the rest. Thanks in advance! :)

  • Nice tutorial. I'll have a look at this again when my Axiom 61 arrives =)

  • i tried calling m audio but never got to talk 2 anybody had me waiting 4 like a year and they aint open on the weekend but i will try prophead......if this doesnt work then wat ughhhhh

  • Like said... I noticed, that nobody answered your call and because of that I mentioned to write them. I wrote m-audio also a while ago and the next day I got an answer. At least you can give it a try ;)

  • thanks for the support it did work on my axiom 49 but how do you save it so it could work when i open a new session on reason becuse it go back to the same sitting when you open reason let me know thank you

  • you mean how to save the remote override settings? -> I think there is no way. But I think there is a way to program your axiom via the program enigma. I don't know really how that works, because I never did something likewise. But maybe there is your solution ;)

  • why did you use press the plus on your axiom dose that program something becuse i pressed it and i dont think it did anything let me know thanks

  • well reason set's automatically the preset 10 as default for steering reason... and because of that I selected the preset by pressing the + button.

  • i dont think it fell but i did reset and i dlded enigma but how to use it properly i would really appreciate a tutorial of how how use enigma for reason 3 im just an upcoming producer tryna reach his dream but lil problems like this are preventing me...plz help

  • Well, I can't help you, because I never used enigma really. And if it is not one of the problems I mentioned, then you really should contact either the support of propellerhead (Reason) or the support of m-audio. If you can't call them, write them a mail. I really would like to help, but I can't in this case, sorry.

  • i did everything and still actin stupid!!! i reset restart and everything im on the phone with m audio waitin to talk 2 some they be having me on hold for like year wtf!!!!

  • Well, that really sounds mysterious. Is it possible, that your keyboard fell down? Or that you fell over the usb-cable or something, so that it might be, that the keyboard is damaged? Did you prove the usb-cable? Maybe it wasn't plugged in deep enough and it got looser?

  • no i dont believe i did i just unistalled everything and re installed same problem how do i soft reset keyboard?

  • Well, I would try the following in this case: Install the program "Enigma" (available on M-Audio-Homepage) and reset your keyboard. If this doesn't help uninstall everything (driver for the Keyboard, Reason Remote driver and Reason itself) and then install in this order: Axiom Keyboard drivers (and restart), Reason Remote driver (and restart) and finally Reason itself. Also be sure to choose the preset Reason told you! If it still doesn't work afterwards you should ask M-Audio or Propellerhead.

  • it was working fine b4 now just the drum pads work wtf i unistall the drivers and re installed!!! still actin stupid!!!

  • Did you change something with "enigma" (the program for your Axiom)? Maybe you changed something within the groups/zones, so that it has nothing to do with the drivers. Did you do everything I showed in this video? (Incl. installing the Remote Driver?)

  • eey i have an question, do u need a audio interface to hook up your axiom to your pc?

    thx!

  • no not at all, just connect it using the usb cable, and the built in sound driver will allow sound to come out the computer. of course having an audio interface is alot better with the latency tho.

  • yeah okay, thanks!

cuz i cant buy an audio interface this month cuz my money isnt in yet. so i must wait till september:P

thx ! sorry for my bad english

  • I would have answered you something like that, but I was in Wacken (Heavy Metal Festival), so that I couldn't ;) I would recommend you an Audio-Interface if you want to run programs like Cubase or Reason to avoid latency, like CardeyaTV said. "Normal" soundcards are usually not very good for producing music.

  • Hey i have a question why not all the keys on my axiom 49 work when i use reasons or any other program? . only the first 5 keys work and the pads work.

  • Hey. I think you disabled some of your zones. If not try to define it to all keys. You can do that when you press "zone/group" and then "1" (for zone one) and then the button "zone range". In the display you should see something different as before and then press the first key and after that the last key. So you defined zone 1 over the whole range of the keyboard. Write me an e-Mail, if this didn't help or if you have other questions.

  • thank you very much for makingt this vid!!!

    ur cool!

  • No problem ;) ... I just recognized after buying the axiom, that it's not that easy to connect it to reason. And because I just found the answer after searching a bit I thought: Why not making a video of how to do it. And there it is ;)

    Glad that it helped you.

  • hey i just got reason 4.0 and i hook up withmy axiom 61 . i was wondering how you get all 8 drums pads to work- it works with the first top pad then it doesnt 2nd top pad wont work but works with the third pad- it pretty much skips with my redrum

  • Well, the preset maybe isn't configured right. But before you try to find out how you change the preset in your axiom try the following: Activate the "Remote Override Edit Mode" like shown in the video, select the Redrum and then double-click the little play buttons on the top of a drum to assign them to a pad.

  • assign the pads using a program called ENIGMA, it should work after that

  • Good vid man i love the Axiom and Reason combo!

  • this doesnt work for me, i click auto find and it says no keyboards are found. and then i try doing by pressing a key on the keyboard and it still doesnt work. please answer back

  • Did you install (like said in the video) the reason remote v7 and the keyboard-drivers BEFORE you installed reason? Because this problem may occure if you don't!

  • Dont go for auto detect.. It doest detect.. Just go to Add> and select M-Audio and Down at Midi Input select M-Audio 61 In 1 and click ok and press - use as Master Keyboard.. u are done :)

  • Well, usually it does. Reason detected mine, too.

  • it auto-detected mine too

  • Did you really select preset 10 (or if you were given another preset number then chose that instead)?

  • i Mean How Can Change Knobs { Or Other Sounds } For Axiom in Reason { or Other Hosts }

    and Make a Loop

    sorry i'm really amateur :-\

  • Well, how you assign faders and knobs in reason is mentioned in this video. And if you want to make a loop, you just copy the recorded things. ;) ... I don't know really how to help you, because I don't really understand your problem ^^

If you never used Cubase or Reason or something, then I would recommend you to try out a cheap program like "Musik maker" (by Magix) to get a feeling for Sampling and so on.

  • Thanks man Cool Tutorial

Can You Learn How We Can Load VST & VSTi On Axiom ?

  • What you mean? You can't load sounds on the axiom, because it is just a Data-Keyboard to send signals to your computer. And if you want to use a VST with it, then you should have a host-program like cubase, if it isn't a stand-alone VST.

  • Thank you very much! Very helpful :) I appreciate these videos! Love the music too actually.

  • Is anybody using magix 12 deluxe music studio?? I can't plug my axiom 25, not getting a bit of a sound I'm deeeespeerraattee!!!!!!!

  • Well no, I didn't use it so far... can't help you with this, sorry!

  • Thanks man this helped out alot I appreciate it cuh!

  • ur welcome ;)

  • Men...you saved my life....than you SO much...

  • glad I was able to help!

  • This was a great tutorial... I already knew how to do it but the way I was doing it stopped working... I use to right click each fader and knob and go to edit remote mapping and move the fader/knob i wanted.. but it stopped recognizing it for some reason.... But this way worked great thanks for posting. Do you have any other tips/hints for the axiom? like i dont know how to use the null/BankLSB/ Bank MSB/ GLob Chan/ Data 1 and all those buttons on there... lol

  • Global Chan is used from switching from midi channel 1-16. You would Press Glob Chan 2 and it switches to channel 2 and so forth. You can just press the number or use the + or - key if you have the 49 or 61. Not sure about the 25.

I hope that helped in some little way. P.S. read the manual lol.

  • Well, I also don't know much about all the Buttons you have there and what kind of possibilities they open. But looking into the manual should help, like Batman said ;)

  • Good lookin! Perfect instructions.. got my Axiom workin in 5 mins!

  • my reason4 cant find any keyboards connected :(

doesnt work in fl studio too :(

But I did everything right, I think....M-Audio drivers installed, Reason COntrol v7 too... So whats the problem?? PLEASE HELP ME !!

  • U need to go to the preferences on the EDIT screen. Then go to the drop down and change it to KEYBOARDS AND CONTROL SURFACES. Once you get there click ADD and select M-AUDIO BASIC with CONTROLS... that will get the Axiom to talk to REASON

  • Well, the method written by aone415 would maybe work also, but why using a "Standard-Control" if you can have the axiom 61 fully recognized?

Are you sure you installed the right drivers? (32-bit, 64-bit?)

Do you have a power-source (USB for example)?

Is the keyboard connected (via USB)?

Does the keyboard send any signals and is it recognized by Windows or Mac?

I know you're not dumb, but sometimes it can be one of the little things that drive you crazy ;)

  • Thanks alot, this really helped me get things set up fast.

  • Glad I was able to help you!

  • also i keep getting an error while trying to install the cd

  • Well, if you click auto find and it says there is no keyboard available, then you maybe have no drivers installed or the reason remote driver isn't working.

To the error: What does it say?

(Could you please write me Mails for this? thx ;) )

  • when i click auto find, it says no keyboard is available? Can you help me out please

  • This Really Helped man thanks alot :-) Subscribed.

    Joe

  • You're welcome ;)

  • this vid helped a lot but how do i control the delay from my keyboard to computer?

  • The delay depends on the power of the soundcard. With a higher buffer it gets a higher delay. But with a higher buffer you don't need such a powerful soundcard.

A lower buffer requires a better soundcard. But the delay can have more causes. Maybe it's better to ask M-Audio or the manufacturer of your soundcard!

  • jo is slang for dude or man in chicago

  • Okay, learned something new again ;)

  • hey i bought my axiom 25 and i just plugged it in and start playing and in reason, the section where the loop-record button is, stop to work after i made a preset on enigma. then a friend told me to reset it, and i did that and then i used the enigma again too upload the presets...but those buttons (and the knobs) doesnt' work...can you help me?

  • Maybe your preset switched to another one? I don't know much about enigma, because I don't use it. It's kind of too difficult to handle. Didn't have the time for finding out everything there. Maybe you should ask propellerhead or m-audio because of that.

  • thanks jo

  • You're welcome jo ;)

  • awesome, thank you. The keyboard should be arriving tomorrow, this will help tremendously.

  • Maybe, we'll see ;)

Well, "tomorrow" should be over now. Did this video help you?

  • Yeah, I knew exactly what I was doing when my 49 arrived, and I've been running it for weeks now without a hitch. 5 stars, thanks :)

  • Thanx but i found all this out the hard way. "searching forums" My question is how do I control all of these settings with 8 pads and 8 sliders, how do i make more virtual items move with the 16 controls I have? please, how do i set it up like this!!! ??????

  • In Reason it is very easy... you just have to open the remote override and choose the button you want to be assigned to one of your knobs/sliders. But if you want to do that in Cubase or Ableton... I don't know if that works.

Don't know if I understood you right. Maybe explain it to me a bit more via mail...
