@BigJT2010 Thanks for the reply.. I have turned it back into the wild...I didn't want it to die from not eating, plus mother wasnt too happy about me having it..ha. But, thanks again..
@snake1921 ha dont get me started on copperheads... i had one in SC that in the 3 months i owned it it only ate once which was another snake. i wound giving it to a breeder, maybe they had better luck
@BigJT2010 ha-ha.. Now I'm down to two Ball Pythons ( one 20+ y/o .. other 10or so y/o ) and a water snake..only about 2 y/o... so, no venomous ones at this time
@snake1921 i still have one red pyg that will eat lizards of mice, a saharan sand viper which im looking to sell, a western massasauga rattler and an Indonesian tree boa.
maximumcat ... pygmy rattlesnakes are very dangerous it's true. Long fangs, high venom yield and a extremely long strike range. I almost died from one of these just a week after a cornsnake almost asphyxiated me when i put it around my neck.Give me a fucking break.The worst part about being a hot keeper is listening to other hot keepers.Nice snake fishmich, props for the "first hot" recommend.People are going to get into hots and do need guidance when viperkeepers and maxcats get tampon uppity.
Venomous snakes are for extremely experienced keepers only. Otherwise, you are asking for a hospital bed at minimum. Venomous snakes will not strike just for the sake of attacking people, but they do so as a defense mechanism. Some of them, like the smaller vipers, are more defensive by nature than most of the larger species. The Sidewinder is especially aggressive. Pygmy rattlers are not quite as testy as the aforementioned, but they will not hesitate to bite a human if cornered.
thanks gary, even though pigs are one of the most commonly kept hots, they are(along with all sistrurus) one of my favorites. very attractive looking snakes and very rewarding snakes to keep.
are they very venoumous

there are no good beginners but some are better than others. i wouldnt reccomend cottons as beginners. find a mentor before you jump into the hobby.
