@iswearnothing I'm taking psych now & we learned about this recently. Depending on the area affected, either Broca's or Wernicke's area, you are unable to grasp certain aspects of language. I think if Broca's area is damaged you lose some ability to express yourself. You can read & understand fine but you'll have difficulty speaking or you'll speak in a diff language or not speak at all. I'm not sure if I have it completely right as I'm still only a high school student but i hope i helped.

I have a Chinese-exchange student friend... and yes this is how she speaks. So if you are Chinese and say "this is not how some Chinese people sound" -go suck an egg- yes this is how some Chinese people speak. Especially Chinese people who have learned British English.

@pcalling12 Foreign accent syndrome doesn't actually give you a foreign accent per-se, but it sort of just "breaks" the part of the brain that generates an accent, and the sufferer ends up with a wierd-ass accent that sounds to other people like its foreign. So its not REALLY a chinese accent or eastern-european or whatever but it sounds to people like it could be.
