  • just removed the Mag Disconnect from my LC9. Its not a big deal but I dont need it.

  • Bought one last week, thanks for showing me this little trick.

  • Does removing the disconnect improve the trigger any? I've heard it does.

  • What do you think of the sr-9c?

  • @mjp1911 I have not fired one but I have handled one and I like it.

  • @humans4targets2 A lot of people state it has a nicer trigger. I've never shot an SR9, but my SR9c is nice.

  • Great video!

  • Thanks for the scoop one less sr9c with the political disconnect.

  • this dumping comment reminds me of pete from the armory channel

  • I removed this piece of shit safety from my Ruger P345 and SR9 (same part for both guns and interchangeable). The magazine disconnect on my P345 would get caught up on the ejector and lock the gun up. No amount of tapping on the slide or pulling back would get it unstuck. I eventually had to remove the rear sight and pull it out from there. So if you're asking if the magazine disconnect causes problems, yeah, it does. My advice is to get rid of it ASAP.

  • is this procedure the same for the SR40?

  • THX got a fullsize SR9 today...

  • Does this improve the trigger pull?

  • Hey buddy, keep your hands off of my plunger. 4:50 LOL

    Good video. Thanks

  • Thanks for the video. Just pulled the mag disconnect out on my sr9c.

  • nice shades ! lmfao

  • Does anyone know if this will work on the SR9-C as well? It all seems similar, but I'm not a gunsmith and don't want to risk screwing up my new carry pistol :-)

  • I HATE the mag safety. accident waiting to happen. Well done vid man. thanks for posting

  • after i took my mag safety out and reassembled my striker remains forward and i cant load a round with that sticking out, but if i rerack the slide it receeds. but if i dry fire the gun the striker stays forward and i have to rerack to get it to return in the slide. kinda annoying but more than that i was wondering if i screwed up somewhere? does this happenn to everybody else? any help is appreciated.

  • I don't mean to sound like a smart azz but what purpose does it serve to remove this disconnect if only to have the gun accidently go off when you think it's empty. I mean is it just so you can feed it a single round at a time? I guess Im a safety type guy Yes I love the external safety on my SR9c. and I like the one in the chamber indicator .

  • @Gordondon You can pull the trigger without a mag in the gun. It wont fire, however it will cause wear on the firing pin. Being able to potentially damage the firearm that easily is a bad thing, and for that alone I say this mag disconnect should be thrown away.

Also, what do you mean about having the gun go off when we think it's empty?

Even with a mag release, there is no excuse for not physically checking for a round in the chamber. A smart and safe gun owner does not need a mag disconnect.

  • @MikeReiner well mike The problem is there 's alot of not smart and not safe gun owners and I think we can live with this feature for their sake, (and ours) I know the last thing I ever want to happen is to get shot by some careless or dumb gun owner. AND accidents Happen Mike, were not infallible in any thing we do.

  • @Gordondon I strongly believe that somebody who is incompetent to the point that they would fail to check the chamber is a bigger danger than any safety can over come. Once you create a new idiot proof safety, a new and improved idiot will come along and circumvent it.

Why don't we look at how mag disconnects are ACTUALLY good, shall we? If somebody wrestles your gun away from you, you get the mag out before they get it, now they can't shoot you. THAT is what a mag disconnect is for.

  • @Gordondon Dude its just a thing that will not let the gun fire with the magazine removed, 90% of semi-auto handguns do NOT have this, and I dont need it.

  • @humans4targets2 yes it a safety feature that when some one next to you removes the magazine from their gun, forgets about the one in the chamber and shoots you in the back. with this magazine disconnect functional Im a whole lot safer when in the presence of mr forgetful or mrs careless. thats my only point you may not need it. but you might wish others had it.

  • @Gordondon theres a few reasons to remove the mag disconnect. 1) it can damage the striker. 2) It adds one more complication to check on when the gun doesnt fire. Not good when used for home defense. 3) General consensus is that it makes the trigger pull not feel as nice. 4) It creates a window of vulnerability when switching magazines that makes it not good for home defense.

Depending on the use of your gun, a mag disconnect can be good or bad. In my case (home defense) it is bad.

  • @Gordondon: The reason I removed mine from my M&P 9 Pro is because I shoot USPSA and after a stagae, you have to unload, show clear, then dry fire the gun before holstering. Not being able to dry fire the gun with an empty mag well causes issues with that.

  • @Gordondon

A gun owner should never "think" their firearm is empty, and it should never "accidentally go off." Period. If a person leaves any chance whatsoever for either of these to happen, they never knew how to handle their weapon to begin with. Ruger puts in the mag safeties to make their product marketable in Communist states such as California, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. Also serves law enforcement purposes theoretically allowing an officer to drop his magazine if his gun is taken

  • Good video! Very helpful. I just got myself an od green sr9 as well and i love it. Check out my vid when u get a chance.

  • Wicked how to video. Thanks a lot.

  • i have never owned a polymer pistol and i just bought an sr9. i like it a lot, have a lot to learn about strikerfired handguns though. QUESTION: when the gun is assembled there seems to be some play between the slide and the lower half. Is this normal?

  • @MrVollertron how much play, and is it up and down, sise to side or front to back play?

  • @humans4targets2 up and down, slightly. i used to shoot m9's so i don't know if its a polymer thing.

  • @mvollert04 Yeah not a problem

  • @humans4targets2 I get this too. If I wrap my hand around the front of the gun and picitinny rail there is some up and down play I can see. Do you get this.

  • @DAB0690 Thats fine.

  • Lmao the dump question is hilarious!!!! lol, it's so funny because it's true! LOL!!!!

  • I'm considering buying the sr9c, is removing the magazine disconnect from the sr9c the same as for the sr9?

  • @stevenliong Yes

  • @humans4targets2 Thanks! Very helpful!

  • @humans4targets2 Thanks! Very helpful!

  • very nice video..im geting my sr9 in two weeks..and you gave me some good ideas ..anywayz yes i have taken a big dump and my pants felt loose also..

  • That's what happens when us "Bigger guys" eat too much and download the extra. :0)

  • would this work for the P345 model?

  • @KillaSmit That I can not say for sure, I never had a P345

  • @humans4targets2 won't work on the P345, the internal design of the Mag DC is completely different. Rugerforum . com has some info on it. Ask about "Cleaning the Rear Sight". The SR9 Mag DC was made to be easily removed after they saw how folks didn't like the P345's design.

  • @txbosox13 Cool thanks for the info

  • Hey bro thank you, was easy. Didn't have a glock tool so what I did is use wire cutter and cut off each side of a close pin. Good vid!

  • im doing this tonight-- wish me luck

  • It's easy man.

  • @humans4targets2 can you do a video on the magazine disconnect for the browning hi power.

  • I have never owned or fooled with a hi power....

  • done-- it is veeery easy!!

now the trigger mech on the other hand.....

it was my first cleaning so i sprayed out the packing grease and reoiled.

i really want some aftermatkert parts

  • Cool man, glad it helped you out!

  • ya - totally... i hear theres is an aftermarket trigger

  • Thanks for the video !!

  • According to the Ruger manual, the SR9 can be dry fired with a magazine inserted.

With the mag disconnect removed does the trigger have a different feel?

Since you removed the mag disconnect, can you now dry fire with the mag removed as well?

    Thanks.

    Good video.

  • The trigger stays the same and yes the gun will fire with no magazine in it.

  • That was the best instruction i could find.

    thank you

  • No problem.

  • Thanks for the video, had some instructions from a forum but actually seeing it was so much better. Did mine tonight and excited that I can dry fire now :).

Checked out some of your other videos as well keep it up, sorry to hear about your dog.

  • Thanks man.

  • To answer your question about taking a dump...

Yes, I've taken a dump so big that my bathroom scale detected a 2 pound difference in my body weight, and I could tighten my belt another hole. It's the second best feeling in the world. The only thing I can think would beat it is when you shoot your tightest group yet.

  • Very good video...followed the video step by step and removed mine....nice work

  • Cool man

  • yo u missed me man and can do do a vid on a berreta m9 if u can get one

  • haha, thats funny, but the dump thing does happen to me....

  • Better out than in. Hey is that a 50cal in the backround, and great vid as always.

  • That is my Arsenal AK-47

  • Oh, i dident know because i live in Australia, i thought it was the round from your first Desert Eagle vid on your old channel, when u explaned the difference from a 50AE and a 50BMG. My mistake.

  • No problem man.

  • I have a question on how this safety feature works. Are you saying that if I had a bullet in the chamber with the mag off, the firing pin wouldn't strike it? I know the trigger (at least on my SR9) works without a mag but I have never tried firing a live round with a mag in it.

  • Yes if yours has this mag disconnect and have a round in the chamber and no magazine ib the gun it will not fire. h4t

  • Man great video 5*s. Haven't had a chance to pick up a Ruger SR-9 yet but its on my list now!. Is it sad I had my face glued to the monitor hoping my name might be called at the end?. lol. Thnx again.
